A piece with linkage to the media stories and Internet discussions about the news that John Edwards has been indicted, arrest warrant issued and he has shown up at the federal courthouse and was listed by federal officials as being in custody.
The indictment contained six felony counts, including conspiracy, four counts of receiving illegal campaign contributions and one count of false statements for keeping the spending off the campaign's public finance reports.
The indictment said the payments made with money from two wealthy supporters were a scheme to protect Edwards' presidential ambitions and his public image as a devoted family man.

Yes he lied until he was forced to tell the truth. Yes he spent a lot of money to keep the truth hidden. Yes he cheated on his wife who was publicly fighting a deadly disease.
Fine, but Elizabeth Edwards died of cancer and their children are now motherless, so I simply can't find the heart to say "good he got caught" if convicting him will take away their father as well.
Charges are expected to be filed by Friday and I only hope that if he ends up being found guilty, those children do not lose their last remaining parent to jail.
If found guilty of these charges,, punish him some other way, but don't punish the children.
