The Silence is no Longer Deafening

For a while it appeared that our voices were crying in the wilderness, but no longer. The blogosphere has finally awakened to the fact that the Obama health care takeover may well ride on the results of the special election to fill Ted Kennedy's seat. It will be held on January 19th in Massachusetts. As we all know, the Democrats now have 60 votes in the Senate and that means they can override any attempt at halting the health care monstrosity by using a filibuster. They can only do this when all 60 Democrat Senators vote to stop debate and act on a bill. If the Republican candidate in that special election, Scott Brown, wins then health care can be talked to death.

The Democrat candidate, Martha Coakley is on record as being in favor of the health care bill and Scott Brown is adamantly opposed. Thus it does not matter whether you live in Massachusetts or not. What happens in Massachusetts will determine if Obama care finally passes or not. Most people who are political activists know that Massachusetts is just about the bluest state in the country so what chance would a conservative Republican have there? The answer would ordinarily be not much chance at all but a special election is a whole different kettle of fish. Republicans always turnout better than Democrats but that difference grows ever so much larger in a special election let alone one being held in the freezing cold weather in January in Massachusetts.

Now that the blogosphere is piling on about this election, more money and support will be coming Scott's way. Just because everyone has been assuming that Martha Coakley has a lock on this election, including her, she has just been coasting on to what should be a certain victory. That is a huge mistake. Scott Brown is one of five Republicans senators in the Massachusetts state senate. He has Mitt Romney's endorsement. He is an extremely good looking and articulate candidate. He and his family are a breath of fresh air in the corrupt politics of Massachusetts. His daughter, Ayla Brown, was a contestant on American Idol where she made it to the final eight. His wife and daughters are all very attractive and obviously talented.

The mainstream media have all been silent on this critical election and that is a good thing. There is not even a current poll available to give us a feel of how well Scott is doing. Several articles in the blogosphere and the Boston Herald have wondered why the Republican National Committee has not been pouring money into this race since the passage of health care is riding on it. It is true that the RNC has made some really dumb decisions in recent years but ignoring this critical race would be a totally incompetent thing to do. That makes me strongly suspect that they have been waiting until the first of the year to step in big time. That way fundraising for the fourth quarter will not show much money available and by the time the January fundraising figures are available, the election will be over.

That is what I would do if I were them and I find out hard to believe that they have not adopted the same strategy. They want the Democrats to stay lulled in their thinking that they have already won this election. If they really are that asleep at the switch at the RNC then maybe all of this activity in the blogosphere criticizing them for dropping the ball will cause them to adopt this strategy now and make it appear it was their strategy all along. If the RNC does pour a million into this race, it can be won as long as the Democrats do not wake up until it is too late.

You can do your part to derail Obama care by going to www.brownforussenate.com and contribute money and/or your time. Even if you do not live in Massachusetts, you can make phone calls for them from home using your cell phone with free long distance calling.

DHS/NSA/TSA/ Obama Admin, Attempts To Deflect Their Own Incompetence By Targeting Bloggers

(Cartoon by Chip Bok, via Townhall.com)

What do you do if your agency fails to stop a terrorist with enough explosive materials sewed into his underwear to take down a plane with 300 passengers, from boarding the plane and attempting to blow it up?

If you are the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), National Security Agency (NSA), Transportation Security Administration (TSA) or the Obama Administration, you issue new security directives, send them out to airlines around the globe, and then when one lands in the hands of a blogger, you go after the bloggers.........

“They’re saying it’s a security document but it was sent to every airport and airline,” says Steven Frischling, one of the bloggers. “It was sent to Islamabad, to Riyadh and to Nigeria. So they’re looking for information about a security document sent to 10,000-plus people internationally. You can’t have a right to expect privacy after that.”

Yes, if you one of the aforementioned groups, you attempt to deflect from the fact that the father of the terrorist tried to warn U.S. officials, walked right into the U.S. Embassy and alerted them.

In the case of Mr. Abdulmutallab, the N.S.A. appears to have captured critical intercepts, and his father provided the name that would have allowed American agencies to take action.

For Mr. Kean, of the Sept. 11 commission, it is the father’s role that should have moved even the most jaded bureaucracy.

“Think of what it took for the father, one of the most respected bankers in Nigeria, to walk into the American Embassy and turn in his own son,” Mr. Kean said. “The father’s a hero. His visit by itself should have been enough to set off all kinds of alarms.”

If you one of the aforementioned groups, you spin your wheels trying to deflect the fact that you failed at your job of making sure information from individual government security agencies is collated to prevent the situation from reaching the point where passengers had to stop the terrorist from taking their lives when the they saw the terrorist's lap on fire.

Intelligence intercepts from Yemen beginning in early August, when Abdulmutallab arrived in that country, contained "bits and pieces about where he was, what his plans were, what he was telling people his plans were," as well as information about planning by the al-Qaeda branch in Yemen, a senior administration official said. "At first blush, not all these things appear to be related" to the 23-year-old Nigerian and the bombing attempt, he said, "but we believe they were."

Agencies under particular scrutiny include the CIA, the National Security Agency -- in charge of electronic intercepts -- and the State Department. Each possessed pieces of the puzzle, none of which was considered overly worrisome or immediately actionable -- absent the other pieces -- under existing procedures. The National Counterterrorism Center, established after the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, to connect the dots government-wide, did not do so.

If you are Barack Obama, you blame it on a "systemic failure", which is was, but it was a systemic failure under his watch, while he was busy focusing on Obamacare, cap and trade and things like closing Gitmo and releasing more suspected terrorist to come back at us and plan an attack, as is what happened in this Christmas Day terror plot.

One of the four leaders allegedly behind the al Qaeda plot to blow up a Northwest Airlines passenger jet over Detroit was released by the U.S. from the Guantanamo prison

Granted, that release was in 2007, under Bush's watch, but the Obama administration has plans to release approximately 100 more.

This morning in Riyadh, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said he spoke to Saudi Assistant Minister of the Interior Muhammed bin Nayaf about sending the roughly 100 Yemeni detainees currently in the detainee center at Guantanamo Bay to Saudi Arabia to the Saudi government's rehabilitation program for jihadis.

If you are the Obama administration, you try to deflect by using the "blame Bush" game again, since it always worked in the past, and send your people hunting information on any "systemic failures" when Bush was President instead of focusing on fixing the problems that your administration caused.

On December 26, two days after Nigerian Omar Abdulmutallab allegedly attempted to use underwear packed with plastic explosives to blow up the Amsterdam-to-Detroit flight he was on, and as it became clear internally that the Administration had suffered perhaps its most embarrassing failure in the area of national security, senior Obama White House aides, including chief of staff Rahm Emanuel, David Axelrod and new White House counsel Robert Bauer, ordered staff to begin researching similar breakdowns -- if any -- from the Bush Administration.

"The idea was that we'd show that the Bush Administration had had far worse missteps than we ever could," says a staffer in the counsel's office. "We were told that classified material involving anything related to al Qaeda operating in Yemen or Nigeria was fair game and that we'd declassify it if necessary."

It is not National Security, it is politics stupid!!

Another Black Conservative (and don't call me racist idiot, that is the name of his damn blog), calls Obama out on the blame Bush game:

Of course the White House uses the ever-tiresome “blame Bush” tactic. Sweet Jesus, you would think by now they would be embarrassed to go back to that excuse once again.

Guess not, I guess Obama figures he has three more years to use that excuse to justify his own incompetence.

Ok, so I digress, back on point here.

If you are the Obama administration, you try to deflect from the fact that "changes" were made when Obama took office, changes that endanger our country.

This employee says that despite statements from the Obama Administration, such information was flagged and given higher priority during the Bush Administration, but that since the changeover "we are encouraged to not create the appearance that we are profiling or targeting Muslims. I think career employees were uncomfortable with the Bush procedures and policies and were relieved to not have to live under them any longer."

SNIP

"I'm not saying that this kind of screw up might not have happened in the Bush Administration," the State source says, referring to the Christmas Day snafu. "I'm just saying that a number of us were encouraged to have a different mindset about such intel and such individuals, and today, we are encouraged not to have that same mindset."

So, by all means, ignore everything above that led to the "systemic failure" under Obama's watch, send out thousands of security directives to different countries, and go after bloggers that dare to report those directives when the information was handed to them.

Maureen Dowd, a liberal who writes an op-ed column for the New York Times, asks "If we can’t catch a Nigerian with a powerful explosive powder in his oddly feminine-looking underpants and a syringe full of acid, a man whose own father had alerted the U.S. Embassy in Nigeria, a traveler whose ticket was paid for in cash and who didn’t check bags, whose visa renewal had been denied by the British, who had studied Arabic in Al Qaeda sanctuary Yemen, whose name was on a counterterrorism watch list, who can we catch?"

Good question,

Something to think about here:

A Pentagon analysis, released in May, showed that one in seven freed Gitmo detainees—61 in all—returned to terrorism. Al-Shihri and Abdullah Ghulam Rasoul, the Taliban's operations leader in southern Afghanistan, are merely the best known. The Pentagon has since updated its findings, and we're told the numbers are even worse.

Yet the White House has resisted calls by Members of the House and Senate intelligence committees to declassify this revised report—no doubt because that would make closing Gitmo harder. Congress should insist on its release.

Here is another question.... why is the Obama administration hiding information from the American public when Obama himself promised more transparency?

Like Rats Fleeing From A Burning Ship...

Ayatollah Ali Khameni (pictured above) and company are planning to flee Iran to Russia.

Hat tip to Israel Matzav
Today Planet Iran posted a letter written on the official Islamic Regime letterhead that discusses Khamenei’s possible to escape to Russia.

December 29, 2009

Iran Global website has exposed a document that discloses information on Khamenei and various authorities of the regime’s possible escape to Russia.

The document is on the National Security Agency of the Islamic regime’s letterhead addressed from the office of the High Assembly of the Islamic Republic’s National Security official [name is redacted] to an individual [name redacted] in the revolutionary guards. The letter is dated 6th of Dey (December 27th).

It reads:
Re: Response to a letter number [redacted] written on the 5th of Dey (December 26th).

Salam Aleykom

With respect, we would like to inform you of the inspection, check up and preparation of the aircraft, destination Russia, for the purpose of transporting the Supreme Leader, his esteemed family and various officials of the Revolutionary Guards. Should the commanding forces lose control, direct your attention to the attached permit, number [redacted] of the National Security Agency and the Bureau of Revolutionary Guard’s Intelligence Security in order for the necessary steps to be taken.

Va al-salam

Office of the high assembly of the Islamic Republic’s national security

Commander, Brigadier-General, Revolutionary Guard

Stamped by Secretary General of the High Assembly of the Islamic Republic’s National Security

Stamped by Dr. Saeed Jalili

CC: [redacted]

This can only mean one thing:  The Green Revolution is terrifying the Mullahs and the heads of the Revolutionary Guards.  Without the Guards the Mullahs have no power, and it it looks like the rank and file Revolutionary Guard members just could be switching sides in an attempt to save themselves.

Without the Mullahs and more importantly the Revolutionary Guard, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is dead meat.  He will have no power, no friends, no allies.  I wonder will he will run to?  Venezuela and get help from Chavez?  Maybe, but don't hold your breath.

I know one person who will take full credit for this:  Barack Hussein Obama!  He will claim that by withholding support to the people of Iran, he brought about regime change.  The people of Iran know that President Obama said nothing, did nothing, helped them in no way.  In fact he congratulated Ahmadinejad when the election results were announced and violence hit the streets.

The Freeing Of Prisoners Who Were To Be Hanged

Iran Tehran 29 Dec 09 Nightly Protest

Perhaps with a regime change Iran will give up its nuclear program and will stop sponsoring terror groups like Hezbollah and Hamas.  Or am I dreaming too much?

There is a wind of change blowing through Iran.  Let us hope it is change for the better with the elimination of the Islamic Republic, and the formation of true democracy and freedom to the people of Iran.  An ideal they have been longing for these last 30 years.

The Deafening Silence

Have you seen or read anything in the media about a special election in Massachusetts for U. S. Senator in three weeks? Have you even heard a peep in the blogosphere? The all important 60th vote in the Senate that the Democrats need to enact health care and the rest of their agenda is up for grabs and all we get is a yawn? All we can assume is that everyone on both sides of the political aisle just assumes that the Democrats will keep Ted Kennedy's old seat. Ordinarily we would agree but not in a special election held in the freezing cold of Massachusetts in January. The Republicans will turnout much better than the Democrats but apparently everyone thinks it still will not be enough to elect the Republican, Scott Brown.

That is the conventional wisdom. The problem is that while it might be conventional it is not necessarily wisdom. The turnout in the primary held on December 8th was extremely low and there is no reason to expect the general election turnout to be any better. In Massachusetts, the independents decide general elections. The registration figures for the 2008 general election show that there were 1,559,464 Democrats, 490,259 Republicans but 2,141,878 independents. Scott Brown has two opponents, Democrat Massachusetts Attorney General, Martha Coakley, and the Liberty Party candidate, Joe Kennedy. Coakley survived a four way Democrat primary by getting 47% of the votes. Brown won the Republican Party with 89% of the votes.

There is no reason why Scott Brown could not win this election if he had enough money and support. It would appear that the National Republican Party is not putting millions of dollars into this race like it should be doing, but then the national folks are well known for dropping the ball. The big question is why the conservative activists are not behind Scott Brown like they were behind Doug Hoffman in the NY-23 congressional race. One would think that at least making a try to capture that 60th Democrat vote would be in order, but apparently not.
Update: The guys at Hillbuzz are now on board and so is Hot Air.

You can do your part to help by going to www.brownforussenate.com and contribute or volunteer to call from home. Clearly this a real sleeper race and maybe, just maybe, even without much help, Scott Brown can pull this off just because everyone is just sitting back and waiting for the Democrat candidate to be crowned. Imagine what a message his victory would send to not only the Obama-Reid-Pelosi crowd but the mainstream media as well. Ted Kennedy's old seat (and Jack Kennedy's too) goes to a Republican. Oh my!

Two Gitmo Releases Behind Terror Plot On Flight 253

ABC:

Two of the four leaders allegedly behind the al Qaeda plot to blow up a Northwest Airlines passenger jet over Detroit were released by the U.S. from the Guantanamo prison in November, 2007, according to American officials and Department of Defense documents. Al Qaeda claimed responsibility for the Northwest bombing in a Monday statement that vowed more attacks on Americans.

American officials agreed to send the two terrorists from Guantanamo to Saudi Arabia where they entered into an "art therapy rehabilitation program" and were set free, according to U.S. and Saudi officials.

They were released in 2007 to Saudi Arabia.

al-Qaeda is having a field day with this and taking credit for the failed attempt to kill a plane full of people.

ABC again:

Al Qaeda took credit Monday for the attempted bombing, boasted of its ability to overcome U.S. intelligence and airport security, and promised new attacks.

Go to the link above for photos of the bomb materials in the underwear.

More news related to this is that in June, the House of Representatives passed a bill which would prohibit the "primary" use of a whole-body imaging system, one that would have clearly shown the bomb materials in Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab's underwear.

The House of Representatives voted 310 to 118 in June to pass a measure that prohibits the TSA from using whole-body imaging as a primary means for screening passengers. The legislation’s prime sponsor, Rep. Jason Chaffetz, said Sunday that he stands by the measure. “I believe there’s technology out there that can identify bomb-type materials without necessarily, overly invading our privacy,” he told the Salt Lake Tribune.

“Yes, there is some brief violation of privacy with a full-body scan,” Rep. Peter King, the top Republican on the House Homeland Security Committee, told Face the Nation. “But on the other hand, if we can save thousands of lives, to me, we have to make that decision, and we have to come down on the side of saving thousands of lives.”

Liberals claim the system is invasive to their privacy.... guess death isn't as invasive huh?

This whole thing leaves us with a few questions... first and foremost, is Obama still planning to release Gitmo terror suspects to Saudi Arabia for "art therapy" so that they can come back and plan more attacks against America?

As of May, that was the plan, at least 100 of them.

Secondly, is Obama still going to bring these very same people onto U.S. soil, as he is doing with Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, the self-described mastermind of the Sept. 11 attacks?

The decision, announced by Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr., could mean one of the highest-profile and highest-security terrorism trials in history would be set just blocks from where hijackers for Al Qaeda destroyed the World Trade Center, killing nearly 2,750 people.

Mr. Holder said he would instruct prosecutors to seek death sentences for Mr. Mohammed and four accused Sept. 11 co-conspirators who would be tried alongside him.

But while the civilian system would handle those cases, he said five other detainees would be prosecuted before a military commission.

Then the obvious question of how much privacy are people willing to compromise on so that a terrorist cannot board a plane with bomb materials sewed into his underwear?

TSA gives information about those privacy concerns:

Facial features” (and, presumably, other body parts) “are blurred when our officers see the images.

TSA will not keep, store or transmit images. Once deleted, they are gone forever. For additional privacy, the officer viewing the image is in a separate room and will never see the passenger and the officer attending to the passenger will never see the image. The officers have 2-way radios to communicate with other in case a threat object is identified.

Obama is "talking" tough but at this point that is all it is, "talking", he still plans to close Gitmo despite the fact that an overwhelming majority of Americans do not support his decision, and that was on Decemeber 16th, 2009, before this latest terror plot against America.

I guess the only real question left is whether anyone actually believes that al-Qaeda and people like Abdulmutallab are going to magically stop trying to attack our airlines or our country?

If you are one that does think they will stop... I have a bridge in Brooklyn I want to sell, interested?

Tea Party Letter

I get many letters from this man. He is the founder of our Liberty Party. His thoughts are the same as mine. He just talks better than I do. I tend to be sarcastic. :)
It is a truth that money talks, but does it not also be a truth, that truth talks? I too like, and would like to see Sarah Palin. She could take it both ways, go National, raise the money, but come down to earth and visit us sometimes. We are the real electors! We, have the vote! WE, need no more isolationism! (me)

The Letter:

"Greetings Patriots:

I recently received notification of a National Tea Party Convention slated to take place February 4th-6th in Nashville, Tennessee.
I personally had some concerns in regards to this event and others slated to be held during the Tea Party "indoor season."
The National Tea Party event will easily cost over $1000.00 per person when you figure in accommodations, travel and food. What average working person can can afford that? I am left pondering who will, in fact, be able to attend? Could not the funds used for participation in this event be better spent on the local level to further aims there? There is a lot of money involved here. It would print a lot of fliers, buy advertising, rent facilities for local events.

Don't get me wrong, I'd like to go see Sarah Palin just as much as anyone else. But it seems an inordinate sum of money for an average working person to spend. It's just like the CPAC (Conservative Political Action Committee) event in DC. A ticket for all the "festivities" is $750.00. Couple that with a hotel bill of $850- $1500.00 for the three day event, plus food and transportation, and you've got a sizable chunk of change. Once again, can an average working person afford to attend such a thing and if so, could not those funds be of greater utility on the local level?

My salient point is this- if we continue to set up an elite, if we continue to try to emulate the structure and elitism that currently exists and has resulted in the current political malaise that we have in this country, can we really expect different results? We could very well wind up with the same type of oligarchy that we have now only through an agency of the Right as opposed to one of the Left.

Just a caveat that I throw out for consideration. A government is for, by and of ALL the people, not just those who can afford to buy tickets to the "inside track.'

Thanks and God Bless America,

Gregg Nicholl, Middletown Liberty Group"

Well said! It starts at ground level.

HUAS Of The Weak

Whoa! He changed the picture! I wonder why? Well, because this weeks winner did not vote for, or support Obama, so I can't really put him down like the original pic does. But he did have his head hidden in a private place for awhile on Saturday.

This man is a very close friend of mine. We speak often, and exchange ideas. I consider us both to be intelligent.

I'll make this rather short, to save him too much embarassment. Saturday, his PC crashed. He had everything backed up on a second hard drive. Pictures, music, movies, important things from politics, and so on. To repair said PC, he simple reformatted and reloaded Windows.

Oooops, he forgot to disconnect aforementioned Hard Drive! You should have seen his face when he discovered that 4 years of saving was gone! He spent all weekend getting back just the normal items he uses everyday! Blogging, E Mail, etc.

So I dedicate this last HUAS of 2009 to my personal friend......,

The 'System' Did Not Work- Obama Admin Fails In War On Terror

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano actually tried to tell CNN's Candy Crowley that the failed attempt to blow up a commercial airliner with 300 passengers on board was proof of how the "system" worked.

While Napolitano is now backtracking that statement, the fact that she dared even say that the system worked in any way, shape or form, takes audacity.

The man had been on a U.S. watch list, he had known extrmist connections, was barred from Britain, his father had warned the U.S. Embassy that he was going to do something and the airport security failed... nothing about the "system" worked at all, in fact it failed miserably.

More from WSJ and The Corner

The Obama administration has been so busy trying to close Gitmo and bring terrorists onto U.S. soil for civilian trials, pushing for Obamacare and working on his agenda, his administration has absolutely failed to acknowledge and focus on the terror threats.

Obama decided to grade himself and give himself a B+, but on the war on terror, he gets gets triple FFF on any report card.

He has bowed down, literally, been so busy apologizing for America and generally made us weaker in the eyes of our enemies, that he has personally guaranteed that more of these attempts will happen in the coming years.

Then again Obama and his administration still think the "blame Bush" line will continue to work, even a year after Obama was elected to the presidency.

Via Wapo:

White House officials struggled to explain the complicated system of centralized terrorist data and watch lists, stressing that they were put in place years ago by the Bush administration.

The problem with that line of thinking is that Bush continuously tried to improve security, constantly putting new stringent rules in place, to which liberals and Bush haters bemoaned him, accused new technology of being "too invasive", accused Bush of using "scare tactics" in the war on terror, yet he always focused on keeping America safe after 9/11.

What has Obama done? What public statements, security measures has Obama implimented in the last year that would improve our safety?

Obama fails.

How to Stop Obama Care Now

Even a lot of Conservative activists have not yet realized that if Obama care passes, we are stuck with it until at least 2013. Why is that you ask? Why can't we just repeal the thing after the 2010 elections? As we just found out if we did not already know, it takes 60 votes in the Senate to get anything big done. That not only includes passing legislation but repealing it as well. The Republicans only have 40 votes so they need to gain 20 seats to undo this beast if it passes. There are only 19 Democrat seats in the Senate up for election in 2010. Thus there is no way to get 20 more votes until 2012. Even if we won a lot of seats and managed to get a repeal passed, Obama would veto it and then you need 67 votes in the Senate and 290 in the House.

On top of that, there is no way to gain 19 seats in the Senate. Three of them are lost causes (Schumer, Leahy and Inouye). We have a real chance in Washington and Wisconsin, but there is no viable Republican running and you cannot beat someone with nobody. The bottom line is that Conservatives are royally screwed if Obama care passes because by the time we have enough votes to repeal it, the benefits will be kicking in. Once that happens, it is all over because no one can repeal an entitlement program once the benefits start. Could you repeal Medicare? That right there tells you what we are up against.

The Democrats understand this very well and that is why they are willing to take huge losses in 2010 to get Obama care through. Our only hope is to prevent Obama care from passing in the first place. How can we possibly make sure that it does not pass? The answer is to take the 60th vote away from the Democrats so that the final bill cannot get through the Senate. Apparently lost on just about everyone, including the leadership of the Republican Party, that 60th vote is up for grabs in less than a month from now.

There is a special election being held on January 19th to fill the old Ted Kennedy seat. Ordinarily, a Senate seat in Massachusetts would be a lost cause, but not in a special election. Scott Brown is a viable candidate and he has a real chance to win because special elections have low voter turnout which strongly favors Republicans. Yet no one is getting on board to help this guy because they just assume it is a lost cause. Instead of bitching about how screwed we are, how about doing something about it?

Go to: www.brownforussenate.com and donate every cent you can spare. We can take that 60th vote away from Reid and then health care will never pass. If we do not do this and send the Democrats a real message, we really are screwed. If you live in Massachusetts or even in New Hampshire near the border, volunteer to get the Republican vote out on January 19th. All you need are a list of the voters who are Republicans and their phone number. The Scott campaign should be able to supply that. You just get the phone numbers added to the voter files by a commercial service. I do it for clients all the time. You can do this from your home even if you live somewhere else and have a cell phone with free long distance.

Please listen to a long time political strategist and believe me when I tell you that this is our only chance to stop Obama care dead in its tracks. If you are dead set against Obama care and the takeover of a sixth of our economy by the government, this is how you can do something about it. While I live in Arizona, I was born and raised in Massachusetts. This is doable if everyone will just get busy and help Scott Brown.

Failed Detonator Saved Northwest Flight 253 From al-Qaeda Planned Terror Attack

ABC, as well as every other news organization, has been all over the failed terror attack on Northwest flight 253 by Abdul Farouk Umar Abdulmutallab, a 23-year-old Nigerian student who was to carry off the Christmas suicide attack.

ABC reports that an al-Qeada top bomb maker was responsible for sewing in the bomb materials to Abdulmutallab's underwear.

Investigators say the suspect had more than 80 grams of PETN, a compound related to nitro-glycerin used by the military. The so-called shoe bomber, Richard Reid, had only about 50 grams kin his failed attempt in 2001 to blow up a U.S.-bound jet. Yesterday's bomb failed because the detonator may have been too small or was not in "proper contact" with the explosive material, investigators told ABC News.

According to Abdulmutallab, he contacted a radical imam in Yemen who put him in touch with al-Qaeda leaders.

The suspect in the Northwest Airlines attack told FBI agents he lived with the al Qaeda leader in Yemen for about a month and was not allowed to leave as he was trained in what to do and how to do it, authorities said.

At some point, according to the account, Abdulmutallab said he was joined by a Saudi citizen whom he described as an al Qaeda bomb maker.

The device intended to blow up the Northwest flight was made at the location in Yemen, according to Abdulmutallab, and consisted of a six-inch packet of powder and a syringe with a liquid. Both were sewn into the student's underwear so they would be near his testicles and unlikely to be detected, he told agents.

In another ABC report we find that the reason this attempt failed was because the detonator didn't work properly.

Furthermore, al-Qaeda is aware that our screening machines and security measures make us vulnerable to this type of attack.

The New York Times reports that new security measures will be implemented although the things they name would not have prevented the specific type of attack that Abdulmutallab attempted.

Times Online reports that Abdulmutallab was previously barred from returning to Britain and more worrisome, he was already on watchlist by the United States, for two years, because of his "extremist" connections.... yet he was allowed to travel, by plane, into America.

The incident led to increased security at UK airports and delays of up to five hours for passengers in Britain yesterday. For the past two years Abdulmutallab has been on a United States watchlist for people known to have extremist links, but he was not prevented from flying to America. UK officials indicated that he had passed across MI5’s radar but was not deemed sufficiently threatening to warrant surveillance.

CNN informs the public that the suspect's father had tried to warn authorities that his son was planning something.

The father -- identified by a family source as Umaru Abdul Mutallab -- contacted the U.S. Embassy "a few weeks ago" saying his son, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, had "become radicalized," the senior administration official, who is familiar with the case, told CNN.

Abdulmutallab, 23, was charged in a federal criminal complaint Saturday with attempting to destroy the plane Friday on its final approach to Michigan's Detroit Metropolitan Airport, and placing a destructive device on the aircraft, the Department of Justice said.

A family source told CNN that Mutallab -- who recently retired as chairman of First Bank PLC, one of Nigeria's premier banks -- had contacted the embassy in Nigeria's capital, Abuja, and various other security agencies earlier than the timeline provided by the administration official. The family source said Mutallab went to those agencies about three months ago after receiving a text message from his son.

The source, who lives at the family home in Kaduna in northern Nigeria, said the son informed his family in the text message that he was leaving school in Dubai to move to Yemen. He implied that he was leaving "for the course of Islam."

Last but not least, meet Jasper Schuringa, a passenger who stepped up to the plate and helped take Abdulmutallab down.

You can read the criminal complaint against Abdulmutallab, here, PDF file.

60s revisited

If you have never heard this, it is a perfect satire for politics in the 60s. Maybe pertinent as well for 2009. It is a Christmas gift to you., the reader. Very rare, worth the listen. (little blue links)

Lighter Side (helium filled)

Ahhh, finally some good news! Balloon Boy! (excellent story btw, I enjoyed every popcorn crunching minute of it, when it unfolded)

Justice served, and I feel it to be satisfactory. We were entertained, and I believe that none of us were fooled for a second. Except Obama voters....you are easy.

DeMint Challenges "Big Bill"

To say this bull is un-Constitutional is a VERY BIG UNDERSTATEMENT! Start here, with what Obama promised. (maybe the only one he kept)

Oh yes! He said it!

Challenges have been ignored however, as the bill will be voted on tomorrow morning. There is some dangerous "language" though.

"This is not legislation. It's not law. This is a rule change. It's a pretty big deal. We will be passing a new law and at the same time creating a Senate rule that makes it out of order to amend or even repeal the law. "I'm not even sure that it's constitutional, but if it is, it most certainly is a Senate rule. I don't see why the majority party wouldn't put this in every bill. If you like your law, you most certainly would want it to have force for future senates."

Jim DeMints' whole story here: Taken from Weekly Standard

http://www.newmediajournal.us/the_fifth_column/12222009b.htm

Vid:

Maybe, sometime during the night, the "Ghost Of Christmas Future", will visit just one Dem Senator. Otherwise folks, we are pretty much screwed. Seems the language also implies that future congress, cannot even repeal parts of this idiocy of a bill. Fundamentally Change? Not the change anyone had hoped for, or is going to get. Any of that buyers remorse setting in? I doubt it. Most of those that voted Obama, don't even know what is going on. They have left it in the Messiahs hands. And I have personally met some, and asked. They have this far away look, still, and you can tell, that they are clueless. So you drop the conversation.

Hope and Change indeed! It is un-Constitutional! But, isn't that what Socialism is?

Welcome to The United Snakes Of America! My sarcasm has returned. Just in time......

Obama Video On Campaign Trail : "we are gonna set up a 'public plan'"

Obama on campaign trail, 2007, states "we are gonna set up a 'public plan'. Video below at 1:40 seconds in.

Obama almost a decade ago, speaking about "single payer", video below.

At the end of the video above, Obama says first they have to take the White House, the Senate and Congress- they did.......

Perhaps now wasn't the time for Barack Obama to take on the far left of his party, the portion of it that insisted the public option part of Obamacare was their Waterloo, but that is what he did nonetheless.

Obama tells the Washington Post that he "didn't campaign on the public option."

I submit, using the video above as proof, that Barack Obama had been campaigning on the "public option and/or "single payer" option, for almost a decade, at least.

Liberals across the country did some digging and are calling him out as a liar.

Think Progress finds multiple instances where Obama did, in fact, campaign on the public option.

– In the 2008 Obama-Biden health care plan on the campaign’s website, candidate Obama promised that “any American will have the opportunity to enroll in [a] new public plan.” [2008]

– During a speech at the American Medical Association, President Obama told thousands of doctors that one of the plans included in the new health insurance exchanges “needs to be a public option that will give people a broader range of choices and inject competition into the health care market.” [6/15/09]

– While speaking to the nation during his weekly address, the President said that “any plan” he signs “must include…a public option.” [7/17/09]

– During a conference call with progressive bloggers, the President said he continues “to believe that a robust public option would be the best way to go.” [7/20/09]

– Obama told NBC’s David Gregory that a public option “should be a part of this [health care bill],” while rebuking claims that the plan was “dead.” [9/20/09]

Salon says Obama is trying to "get cute with semantics" by making this claim.

Politico points to a campaign position paper on health care where public option/plan was mentioned eight different times.

Moderate Voice says Obama is "fudging the truth."

Jon Walker at FDL adds this to the list of broken promises by Obama.

Empty Wheel takes on Obamabot defenders (Erza Klein) and takes them to task.

It is pretty hard to rewrite history when everything said and done is captured on the Internet and by video, forever.

Pinch Us Because We Must Be Dreaming

From The Marston Chronicles

There is no way that what is happening can be real so I must be dreaming as are we all. I can prove to you that this must be the case and that we must all be having the same hallucinatory dream. Think back to 2003 for a moment. You are in a bookstore and you see a best selling novel set a few years in the future in Washington DC that is all about political intrigue. In this novel the author has made up this scenario whereby you are asked to imagine this future he has created.

In this future set just a few years ahead, we are asked to believe America has elected a black male President when blacks make up only 12.3% of the population and we have done this before even electing a female President. Okay, that is realistic enough since there are a lot of intelligent competent black Americans who have the necessary credentials to run this country. One can image Colin Powell being President or even getting a two for one by electing a black female President like Dr. Condoleezza Rice. However, the author wants you to believe that instead we have elected a black male who was known for having strong socialist tendencies based on his own statements. Not only that, but he has clearly associated with unsavory characters who have been known unrepentant domestic terrorists, blatant racists and convicted felons. Now who is going to believe that we would elect anyone who could not get a security clearance to be his own bodyguard and essentially give him the highest security clearance of all?

Everyone knows what a field day the news media would have pointing all of this out to the American public. After all, you get Pulitzer Prizes for pulling down a politician with a track record like this. There would be a news media feeding sensation with each of them trying to outdo the other to reveal in a breathless voice the next documented (or maybe even undocumented ones like Dan Rather did) scandal. What publisher would accept a manuscript with such a cockamamie premise? If that is not enough to invoke disbelief, the author wants you to believe that we would elect a man President who spent his formative years going to a Muslim school in a place like Indonesia. How could he be a "natural born citizen" under such circumstances even if he was born in Hawaii? Why would anyone believe we would elect a man with Muslim sympathies a mere seven years after 9/11?

We are all willing to suspend belief for the sake of a good story but this is getting ridiculous. Finally, this man has no experience in business and has never had to meet a payroll. Most businessmen would not hire him to push a wheelbarrow and even then only to satisfy an affirmative action quota. But actually he has been an affirmative action bonus baby all the way. He has never had to earn anything because it all has been handed to him on a silver platter because of the color of his skin. The author wants us to believe that the American people would actually do such a racist thing because of some imaginary guilt complex about slavery on the part of the 74.3% of the American people who just happen to have white skin.

But wait, it gets even better. Along with electing this black President, the American voters gave his party control of both houses of Congress including a filibuster proof Senate. They in turn have tried to jam a legislative agenda down the throats of the American people that is opposed by a clear majority of the people. They have ruled that carbon dioxide is a "pollutant" and giving the EPA authority to regulate anything producing more than 250 tons of carbon dioxide in a year. That includes the vast majority of all businesses, and all schools, hospitals, shopping malls, etc in the entire country. They are passing a so-called health care reform bill that requires everyone to obtain health insurance or pay a fine for not doing so. Failure to pay the fine gets you a jail sentence. The bill even contains language that makes it impossible to ever repeal certain provisions of it.

Everyone knows that the cardinal rule of politics is to get re-elected. This author actually wants us to believe that even though they do not have one single vote from the opposing party, that politicians would commit political suicide by passing such a bill. Such foolish things are only done by ideologues and they make poor politicians. Not only that but the author has them get the necessary votes to do so with out and out bribes right out in front of a credulous public. When this is pointed out to them, their attitude is: Too bad because we are going to do it anyway. When it is pointed out that the Constitution does not give them the authority to do this, their attitude is: The Constitution allows us to do whatever we feel is necessary because we can always find enough liberal activist judges who agree with us. What politician in the real world could ever be so credulous and naive?

Even political novices know that messing with social security and medicare is the third rail of politics. How can the author want us to believe that any politician would pull $500,000,000,000 out of medicare for any reason whatsoever when some of them represent districts where one out of every four voters is over 65? He wants us to believe that the largest association of retired people would sell out their membership by approving this bill. He wants us to believe that the AMA would do the same thing. Obviously this author does not know the first thing about American politics. You really just cannot make stuff like this up and get anyone to believe you. That is why this cannot be some book published in 2003 that has all this nonsense in it.

That is why this must be a dream. We must all be having this dream at the same time because it just cannot be true. It makes no sense whatsoever. What a total nightmare! Pinch us all so we can wake up and know this was just a bad dream. I just pinched myself and I am still having this dream. How about you? Are you having the same dream? If you are not, help me wake up. Please? Pretty please with sugar and molasses on it?

In Memory!

Of our dear friend Roger W. Gardner, founder of Radarsite.

Roger Gardner was diagnosed with Leukemia September of 2008. The doctors gave him 2 weeks to live. G-d had other plans for him. Roger survived 2 weeks, 2 months, 1 year. All the time fighting for his life, and this nation he loved so well.

I find it hard to write this. Roger was a friend and mentor. His death is a loss to the fight for justice, freedom and decency. We will all miss him very much.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. May G-d bring comfort to his family.

HUAS of the Weak

In memory of Roger Gardner, I passed this on to Tuesday night. I have to say that I did not have much contact with Roger, I did read Radarsite often. Rest in peace. Well deserved peace.

OK, life must go on. I found the perfect candidate for the award this week. Not all winners/whiners, are politicians. Without these people, we would all have something better to do! From Bastard Obama

Renee, from Virginia, I do not know you, but I welcome you to the fold of HUAS winners. I am not singling you out though, you have many others that can share this award with you. Truth hurts, when your head is up your keister. (that probably does not feel good either)

Kudos to Mr. Savage!

And to the rest of you, without my usual sarcasm, I really do wish you a Very Merry Christmas! And a special shout out to Pat! I am Skeez. Remembering Roger W. Gardner (Video)

Many of you will remember Roger W. Gardner's writings and his feisty comments here at Wake up America. Roger was former military, fiercely pro-American and spoke with absolute clarity about the moral, racial and religious issues that plagued this country. His voice was unique. There was never a moment of doubt about his message. Today and for many days in the future, we will be remembering Rog.

Roger W. Gardner

We are mourning the loss of our friend, and owner of Radarsite, Roger Gardner. He battled leukemia for a little over a year. We learned yesterday through an email from his son Geoff, saying that Roger lost his battle on Thursday evening, December 17th.

Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 North Avenue in Haverhill, Massachusetts took "amazing" care of Roger, according to Geoff, and as his friends out here in his conservative blog network know, his family, who he loved so very much, were always there for him.

All of the photos and the video in this post are courtesy of Norm Hooben at Storm'n Norm'n. Norm was one of the few of Roger's blogging friends who was fortunate to meet him in person. Here are a few memories from Norm:

Norm Hooben (L) and Roger Gardner (R)

Rog

I got to meet Roger on two occasions and was very impressed with his knowledge of early Roman history...he was very well read and had an array of books in his small but comfortable apartment.

Some of you may remember the video I took during one of my visits...he was also
an excellent musician (self-taught, I believe) ...
My prayers are for his family and friends...I'm speechless at the moment but I know Roger is with Our Creator...Norm

Over the coming days, you will find additional memories and tributes at Radarsite, as well as our favorites among Roger's outstanding writings. If you have a favorite article by Roger, please leave it in the comment section and we will add it to our list.

The Left Against The Left On Obamacare

An interesting pattern has emerged along with Harry Reid's monstrosity of bill, Obamacare or healthcare, whatever you want to call it and the far left seems to be contradicting, well, the far left.

FireDogLake stands in the Howard Dean crowd of "kill the bill" while others, such as Erza Klein continue to try to defend the bill, while people like RJ Eskow from Crooks and Liars asks Klein and others to stop ignoring and manipulating information to benefit their own political point of view.

Not only has the wheeling, dealing and bribery from Harry Reid and other Democratic political leaders, started to alienate the majority of American voters, it has divided the left from the moderate left and both from the progressive liberal left.

Going into 2010, with Democratic double digit losses in the House already expected, and Republican challengers ahead of Democratic incumbents in the Senate, such as Harry Reid, the last thing the left needs is their own party divided into three, yet Democratic political leaders continue to slice and dice and divide their own party.

While the obamacare battle is not over by a long shot, the Senate still has another vote, then the House and Senate have to merge their bills, then more rounds of votes must be had, so our eyes need to be on that ball, but we also have to start working on seeing these politicians who are ignoring the will of the majority of people, lose their seats in 2010, then more in 2012.

We need to start supporting, helping, writing and doing everything in our power to take back the House and the Senate and in 2012, the White House.

.

Obamacare And Democrats Ignore 'We The People'

Headlines today truly says it all, see for yourself.

Senate health-care reform bill passes another hurdle, Democrats Face Challenge in Merging Health Bills, U.S. Voters Oppose Health Care Plan By Wide Margin.

While Harry Reid and Senate Democrats race to pass Obamacare by Christmas, voters, in poll after poll after poll are saying they are opposed to the healthcare bills currently being pushed by Democratic leaders.

As the Senate prepares to vote on health care reform, American voters "mostly disapprove" of the plan 53 - 36 percent and disapprove 56 - 38 percent of President Barack Obama's handling of the health care issue, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today.

Voters also oppose 72 - 23 percent using any public money in the health care overhaul to pay for abortions, the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University poll finds.

Quinnipiac is not the only poll showing the majority against Obamacare.

Another reminder, one I have shown you twice, but bears repeating, yet again, to show readers just how little the Democratic leaders care about "we the people" that voted them in and will be voting them out in 2010 and 2012.

RCP shows the averages from all the latest polls, NBC News/Wall St. Jrnl, Associated Press/GfK, Rasmussen Reports, Gallup, ABC News/Wash Post, Pew Research, FOX News, CNN/Opinion Research and Quinnipiac, all show a plurality or majority against Obamacare.

Just in case any one is silly enough to think it is only conservatives that are against the obamacare bill, for reasons different than conservatives, some liberals are just as opposed, even listing the top ten reasons to kill the bill.

OBAMA Unleashes Media Matters to Attack Israel and Praise Goldstone Report

Media Matters is President Obama's Media watchdog. Its role is to attack public figures, talking heads, politicians, bloggers, just about anybody who says anything bad about the President or his policies. Now Rather than concentrating on the counter-attack the group is going directly against Israel, once again showing Obama's true colors regarding the Jewish State.

As anti-Israel attackers tend to do, Obama uses an Jew to lead the charge against the Jewish State, in this case its, MJ Rosenberg, Jewish-Lobby conspiracy theorist, bully with a keyboard, self-proclaimed
violator of national security.

To be honest I have only cross paths with Rosenberg's writing twice before, in the matter of Chas Freeman President Obama's pick for NIC Chairman who was a tool for both the Saudi and Chinese government and in the matter of Steve Rosen, the former AIPAC who was
wrongly charged with espionage (the charges were dropped this year). In both cases,  Rosenberg’s strategy has been is to attack people personally, throw around the “N” word (neo-con), twist words around (including mine) and accuse those of us who have differ from his point of view as hell-bent to run the foreign policy of the United States of America.

Now Obama is sending a "hired Jew" (MJ Rosenberg) and
Media Matters to do his dirty work against Israel.
This week there was new evidence that mainstream progressives are confronting the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. After years of silence on the issue, progressives are coming around to understanding that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is not just a "Jewish" or "Muslim" issue but one that affects all Americans.

It was reported on Wednesday that Israel Policy Forum, where I worked for a decade before coming to Media Matters Action Network, is moving into the Center for American Progress, the progressive think-tank

53 Percent Of Voters Disapprove Of Obama

Rasmussen divides those that strongly approve or disapprove of Obama and the break down is below:

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows that 26% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty-three percent (43%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -17 (see trends).

Today’s update show the highest level of Strong Disapproval yet recorded for this President. It comes as the Senate is preparing to pass health care reform legislation initiated by the President and opposed by most voters. That latest Rasmussen Reports tracking, released earlier today, shows that 41% support the health care legislation and 55% are opposed.

Take the word "strongly" out of the equation and the numbers show the majority of votes disapprove of Obama's job performance.

Overall, 46% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President's performance. Fifty-three percent (53%) now disapprove.
