Ahmadinejad Denied Visit to Ground Zero

Personally, I cannot even believe anyone even considered this lunatics request to visit Ground Zero and I seriously doubt New Yorkers would have stood silently by and allowed it to happen.

I still say we should not even grant him a visa into the United States of America and we spoke, at length, about this yesterday.

Today the New York Sun reported that the Bloomberg administration is in discussions to escort the Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, to ground zero during his visit to New York next week.

The Iranian mission to the U.N. made the request to the New York City Police Department and the Secret Service, which will jointly oversee security during the leader's two-day visit. Mr. Ahmadinejad is scheduled to arrive September 24 to speak to the U.N. General Assembly as the Security Council decides whether to increase sanctions against his country for its uranium enrichment program.

Mr. Kelly said the NYPD and Secret Service were in discussions with the Iranian Mission about the logistics for the possible visit, and whether it will take place at all. He said that for safety reasons related to ongoing construction at ground zero Mr. Ahmadinejad would not be allowed to descend into the pit.

"There has been some interest expressed in his visiting the area," Mr. Kelly said. "It's something that we are prepared to handle if in fact it does happen."

BIG MISTAKE to consider it and Hot Air shot a bow across their bow immediately, warning of a massive fallout should this come about.

Not to go all nutrootsy here, but there are one or two influential people who allegedly read this site so let me issue a formal warning to them on behalf of myself and, I suspect, most of our readers: if Bush and Rice let him go down there, especially in the wake of Petraeus and Crocker reporting the threat Iran poses to American soldiers in Iraq, you have no idea how grave the political fallout will be. Consider this an alert from the grassroots early warning system. You ignored the warning we gave you this summer about the amnesty bill. For your sake, don’t ignore this one.

According to the City Room, that request was denied, rightly so.

The gall of this lunatic is astounding, the fact that anyone would even consider this idiocy is even more astounding and that it made it far enough to be published in the news goes to show the idiocy of the people running things.

An advance team for the president of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, asked earlier this month that he be allowed to lay a wreath at the World Trade Center site during the opening of the United Nations General Assembly next week, but the request was denied, New York City police officials said today.

Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly caused considerable confusion earlier today when he suggested that the request was still pending. In fact, police officials said later, the request — made at a meeting that included the Secret Service and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey — was denied for reasons of security and safety. They added that Mr. Ahmadinejad’s aides had asked that he be allowed into the pit, where construction is taking place.

You just KNEW Mitt Romney would have something to say about this after his letter to the Secretary General of the UN, regarding Ahmadinejad's addressing the General Assembly.

“Ahmadinejad’s shockingly audacious request should be met with a vehement no. It’s inconceivable that any consideration would be given to the idea of entertaining the leader of a state sponsor of terror at Ground Zero. This would deeply offend the sensibilities of Americans from all corners of our nation. Instead of entertaining Ahmadinejad, we should be indicting him.”

There should be no visa allowed to him at all. He is not welcome in America and this shouldn't even be an option.

Why is it?

This is disgraceful.

In other news about Iran, we see they have drawn up plans to bomb Israel. THAT would be a fatal mistake.
