Ted Kennedy Wants His Wife Vicki To Succeed Him

Recently Senator Edward "Ted" Kennedy was diagnosed with malignant brain tumor, after suffering a seizure and being rushed to the hospital. Reports now say that Kennedy wants his wife, Vicki, to succeed him.
According to Daily News, Senator Ted Kennedy (D-Mass) has told "confidants" that when his time is up he wants his wife, Victoria Reggie Kennedy, former Washington Lawyer and daughter of a politically active judge, to take his seat in the Senate.

While his wishes and request may sway voters in the state of Massachusetts, according to Massachusetts law, his successor for the rest of his term, which ends in 2012, would be picked by special election.

His brother John F. Kennedy held the Senate seat from 1953 to 1960. From 1960 to 1962, the seat was held by Benjamin Atwood Smith II, who was John F. Kennedy's college roommate, until Ted Kennedy turned 30, the minimum age provided by the U.S. Constitution for eligibility to serve in the Senate, the a special election was held and Ted Kennedy has held the seat ever since.

Nothing like keeping it all in the family huh?
