California Democratic Party Put The Nutroots In Their Place

The nuts on the far left liberal side of the aisle, not to be mistaken with the moderates, started what they are calling a "Courage Campaign" and tried to force the California Democratic party to censure Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) because she voted for Leslie Southwick for the Federal Appeals court Judge and voted to confirm Michael Mukasey. They bombed, failed and were put in their place quickly.

Here is the roll call on Southwick and you will notice that Feinstein was not the only Democrat to vote for him.

Akaka (D-HI)
Byrd (D-WV)
Conrad (D-ND)
Dorgan (D-ND)
Feinstein (D-CA)
Johnson (D-SD)
Lincoln (D-AR)
Nelson (D-NE)
Pryor (D-AR)

8 other Democratic politicians voted to do what was right instead of what the crazy fringe of their party demanded they do.

Here is the Senate roll call for Michael Mukasey and once again, there are other Democrats on the list, Democrats not being targeted by their own for voting the way they believed was right, which is why they were elected in the first place.

Joining Feinstein in that vote was:

Bayh (D-IN)
Carper (D-DE)
Feinstein (D-CA)
Nelson (D-NE)
Lieberman (ID-CT)

These two votes are the "stated reason" that the Campaign for courage went after after Dianne Feinstein, but I believe there was another reason which I briefly addressed back on October 30th.

Dianne Feinstein did the unthinkable in the nutroots eyes, she actually said something nice about President Bush. I showed everyone that day how the left went into a complete hissy fit over these words:

Bush invited Sen. Dianne Feinstein to join him on Air Force One during his trip. It may not have been coincidence that less than 24 hours earlier, Feinstein played a pivotal role in allowing Judge Leslie Southwick, a target of liberal groups, to be confirmed to an appeals court when she voted to block a filibuster and support the president's nomination.

With a 7:40 a.m. Thursday departure from Andrews Air Force Base, Feinstein found herself seated in the rear of the plane with a handful of Southern California congressional representatives.

After a breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausage and French toast, Bush popped back for what the senator described as a frank two-hour conversation, mostly about foreign policy.

"I found the discussion extraordinarily positive," Feinstein said. "I came away with a very different view about him."

As for the president's performance on the ground?

"It was a wonderful thing to see, to be candid," Feinstein said. "I saw a warm, caring human being."

Reactions:

Enough to make eyes bleed dammit!!! Bush charmed her. One idiot actually said the words "schoolgirl crush behavior".
So, do not think for one moment that her votes are the only reason she has become the "enemy" in the nutroots eyes, it goes deeper than that, it is because in their Bush Derangement Syndrome that cannot stand that Feinstein actually sees George Bush as a human being and not some monster.

From Crooks and Liars: (Very upset about being put in their place, I tell you!!)

Let’s start with the good news first, even though there is plenty of bad to come later, given the disgraceful behavior of California Democratic Party staffer Bob Mullholland, caught on video. In just five days, over 33,000 Americans, 90% or more Californians, joined the Courage Campaign call for the California Democratic Party (CDP) to censure Senator Dianne Feinstein for her pivotal votes to approve Judge Michael Mukasey as U.S. Attorney General and Judge Leslie Southwick to the U.S. Court of Appeals. These Americans were joined by the Courage Campaign, MoveOn.org, Progressive Democrats of America, CrooksandLiars.com and over 40 Democratic Clubs and progressive organizations from across California....

Sounds good huh?

Blue Crab Boulevard crunches the numbers:

The Secretary of State of California reports that there are 6,667,437 registered Democrats in California, as of February 10, 2007. "Over 30,000" Americans "90%" from California (and therefore actually entitled to express their opinion) means somewhere around 29.000 jumped on this particular bandwagon.

Or 29,000/6,667,437*100 = 0.44% of registered Democrats in California on board.

So much for their good news.

The are also complaining about Bob Mulholland, a campaign adviser to California Democrats because he rightly stated:

For Bob Mulholland, a campaign adviser to California Democrats who has known Feinstein since her time as San Francisco mayor, the backlash against Feinstein amounts to a betrayal rather than a defence of the party's core principles. Mulholland blasted the bloggers and activists supporting the censure resolution as "fringe" and "pre-nursing home".

Here is a video of them whining, found on YouTube, for those getting the email subscription to Wake up America (videos don't show up and you HAVE to see how good they are at whining)

Malkin makes a good point:

Let’s hope they keep at each other’s throats. If they’re preoccupied tearing themselves apart, that’s less time and energy they’ll have to hike your taxes, expand government, and undermine our security. Every bit helps.

Michael van der Galiƫn thinks this is amazing to watch:

Amazing. They eat their own. What’s more, they go after someone not because that person has truly made bad judgments, but because that person votes to confirm someone, who - objectively spoken - is indeed the right person for the job (Mukasey).

Remember this isn't the first time the nutty roots have felt they were "put in their place", by their own party, which we showed you in their own words on October 21, 2007.

They will continue to try to force their far left liberal agenda down the Democrats throats until they succeed at destroying the Democratic party as a whole.
