Drilling For Our Own Oil Or Raise Taxes?

Republicans believe to fix our gas price problem, we need to drill our own oil, thereby depend less on other countries.

Democrats believe to fix our gas problem, we need to raise taxes.

Never has the contrast between the two been as clear cut and simple.

A GOP energy plan, rejected by the Senate last month, calls for opening a coastal strip of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska to oil development and to allow states to opt out of the national moratorium that has been in effect for a quarter century against oil and gas drilling in more than 80 percent of the country's coastal waters.

Makes sense and as Republican leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky says, Democrats' response to the gas situation is that they "think we can tax our way out of this problem."

The always do.

Today we see that the GOP has blocked the Democratic measures to raise taxes on oil companies, as well Americans, in a 51-43, the Dems failed to get the 60 votes needed to bypass a filibuster.

Sen. Pete Domenici, R-N.M., puts it well when he said, "The American people are clamoring for relief at the pump, they will get exactly what they don't want. The bill will raise taxes, increase imports."

Seriously, what good is lowering prices at the pump if the Democrats are just going to take MORE in taxing us?

How idiotic can they get?

"Republicans by and large believe that the solution to this problem, in part, is to increase domestic production," McConnell said.

So, why is there 80 percent of coastal area NOT being utilized to help our country solve their gas problems?

One word.

DEMOCRATS.

Tell the Democrats to " Drill Here. Drill Now. Pay Less.

We, therefore, the undersigned citizens of the United States, petition the U.S. Congress to act immediately to lower gasoline prices (and diesel and other fuel prices)* by authorizing the exploration of proven energy reserves to reduce our dependence on foreign energy sources from unstable countries.

Sign the petition, over 400,000 people already have and let Congress know, you want us to become less dependent on other countries, which would solve the problem without raising OUR taxes.
