NSA Spying On Potential Terrorists Or Obama's Political Enemies By Labeling Them Right-Wing 'Extremists'?

By Susan Duclos

Does the headline question sound paranoid?

Liberals would say it does, then again, for three years liberals told Tea Party, pro-Israel groups, Romney donors, and pro-life groups that they were just paranoid and the IRS wasn't deliberately targeting them.

Those liberals were wrong as evidenced by the IRS finally admitting that yes, they were targeting conservative groups and had been since 2010.

The one thing all the groups above have in common is they are opposed to Obama's domestic, social, foreign and economic policies.

Looking at just a few examples from the IRS scandal:

• A pro-life group forced to sign a promise to not protest in front of Planned Parenthood, the nation's largest abortion provider, in order to obtain tax-exempt status. Barack Obama publicly supports Planned Parenthood.

• A pro-Israel group, Z STREET representative was told by an IRS agent that Israel-related organizations have been assigned to “"a special unit in the D.C. office to determine whether the organization’s activities contradict the [Obama]Administration’s public policies."

• It was reported back in July 2012, that an Idaho businessman, Frank VanderSloot, singled out by the Obama campaign for giving $1 million in support of Mitt Romney is became the focus of IRS audit. Subsequent reports indicate other Romney donors were also targeted by the IRS.

• Preliminary investigations have already shown, and IRS has admitted, to "inappropriately" targeting Tea Party,  patriot and 9/12 groups.

Bottom line is it is publicly known that one agency under Obama, the IRS, has deliberately targeted Obama's political opponents.

What about the NSA and the secret FISA court orders to collect data on millions of Americans, via every customer of Verizon, specific demands for information on users of Yahoo, Google, PalTalk, AOL, Skype, YouTube, Apple, Microsoft and Facebook?

Supposedly the  FISA secret court orders for the NSA, are to protect national security, to prevent terrorist attacks, but thinking back it seems that the Obama administration has labeled many right-wing groups that disagree with his ideology to be "extremists," and a danger to national security.

Just a couple of examples:

• Army training materials list Evangelical Christianity and Catholicism with extremism and equating them with terrorist organizations such as KKK, al-Qaeda and Hamas.

• Since 2009, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) , under Obama has publicly labeled those against illegal immigration and gun control opponents as "right-wing extremists," and "domestic terrorism threats."

Is it paranoia to wonder if the Obama administration deliberately labeled right-wingers as "extremists" and "domestic terrorism threats," to justify going to the FISA court to secretly obtain unlimited amounts of information on Americans that disagree with Obama politically, on the grounds of national security?

If it is paranoid to ask that, then 57 percent of voters nationwide are paranoid because according to the latest poll, those 57 percent "fear government will use NSA data to punish political opponents."
