Edward Snowden Bombshell! "America's Secret Government"

By Susan Duclos, via All News PipeLine

Edward Snowden has been called a traitor, a whistleblower, a patriot and a hero, all depending on who is talking about him, but it is inarguable that he exposed one of the biggest scandals of the Obama administration when he released documents proving the massive expansion of domestic and international spying conducted by the NSA.

In the video excerpted interview below with Lawrence Lessig, Snowden explains the reason he blew the whistle on the US secret programs and explains to the world all about "America's Secret Government."

"MonsterMind" Automated War! The Last Straw For Edward Snowden

By Susan Duclos

Some call Edward Snowden a hero, others a traitor, but in his biggest revelation to date we find out that the last straw, the one that broke the camel's back, so to speak, which made him go public with sensitive classified information obtained from NSA databases, then flee the country as a fugitive from the United States, was a project called "MonsterMind."

MonsterMind is an automated cyber weapon, which would monitor everything on the internet and decide, without a human brain behind it, to wage war. This cyber weapon, referred to as a "creature" by Popular Science, is housed in Utah "perched atop the data flows into the National Security Agency's Mission Data Repository."

According to Snowden, MonsterMind is not only dangerous, tremendously powerful, but is easily fooled.

The massive surveillance effort was bad enough, but Snowden was even more disturbed to discover a new, Strangelovian cyberwarfare program in the works, codenamed MonsterMind. The program, disclosed here for the first time, would automate the process of hunting for the beginnings of a foreign cyberattack. Software would constantly be on the lookout for traffic patterns indicating known or suspected attacks. When it detected an attack, MonsterMind would automatically block it from entering the country—a “kill” in cyber terminology.

Programs like this had existed for decades, but MonsterMind software would add a unique new capability: Instead of simply detecting and killing the malware at the point of entry, MonsterMind would automatically fire back, with no human involvement. That's a problem, Snowden says, because the initial attacks are often routed through computers in innocent third countries. “These attacks can be spoofed,” he says. “You could have someone sitting in China, for example, making it appear that one of these attacks is originating in Russia. And then we end up shooting back at a Russian hospital. What happens next?”

We have seen people replaced with robotic creations, jobs lost to automation, the mixing of man with machine, automated systems going haywire over a short circuit, AI systems with the ability to "learn," and much more in this world where the rise of the machines is considered technological advancements, but do we really want a machine, with no human decision making process, no human brain behind it, no emotion or ethics, deciding to start a war, perhaps with countries that are nuclear powers themselves?

One has to ask themselves.... what could go wrong? The answer to that should terrify every human being on the planet."

Can You Crack The Code? NSA Using Twitter To Recruit With Coded Messages

By Susan Duclos

The National Security Agency (NSA) posted a cryptic tweet to Twitter on May 5, 2014, which had other users wondering if they had been hacked or if someone was playing a joke, but it turns out the tweet, shown below, was put out by the NSA as a recruitment tool.

According to a spokeswoman for the NSA, this mysterious tweet was put out "As part of our recruitment efforts to attract the best and the brightest, we will post mission related coded Tweets on Mondays in the month of May."

The code was cracked within minutes according to SkyNews, but the codes are expected to get harder.

For those curious, it is a letter substitution puzzle that once decoded, reads "Want to know what it takes to work at NSA? Check back each Monday in May as we explore career essentials to protect our nation."

Did you crack it before reading the paragraph above? If so, the NSA may want you!

Warning! CIA Plants Likely Involved In Cliven Bundy Standoff

By Susan Duclos - Cross posted at Before It's News

In the video below, AMTV's Christopher Greene explores the still tense situation in Nevada with Cliven Bundy and the Range War that occurred last week, where the federal government backed off in the face of awakened freedom fighters, militias, media and Bundy supporters, who not only forced the Bureau of Land Management to cease their operations, but then faced off with them again at the gates of the compound they used to hold the cattle they stole from Mr. Bundy.

Greene warns about the federal government's use of this situation to gather intelligence on not just those that went to stand with Bundy, but those reporting on it in favor of Bundy, those sharing on social media, which some say allowed the government to "tag" what they consider dissidents.

Greene also issues another warning for when, not if, the Feds decide to escalate the situation again, stating that it is more than likely that there is a CIA plant, or one from any of the other alphabet agencies, infiltrating the Bundy supporters or militia groups standing with him, in order to fire the first shot so the liberal mainstream media can spin it as the fault of those supporting Bundy.

This is not the first time this has been mentioned and it is quite likely that many militia groups have been infiltrated far before this situation came to a head last week, in order the for the government to know their plans, their capabilities, their hot buttons, in order to ultimately dismantle, discredit and/or disarm them.

Listen carefully below because our freedoms, our ability to stand up against tyranny as was done in Nevada, depends on understanding the methods the government will and do use in order to strip our liberty and rights from US citizens.

Lights Out For The NSA? Literally! (Video)

By Susan Duclos

If the courts won't stop the NSA from violating Americans' 4th Amendment rights, then states, one by one, need to cut the NSA off at the knees by proposing and in some cases passing bills that will prevent the NSA from operating in their states.

Maryland is the latest state to propose legislation fashioned by the Tenth Amendment Center which would literally cut the NSA off from water and electricity being supplied to them by the state, as well as prevent any "material support, participation or assistance in any form."

The bill would deprive NSA facilities water and electricity carried over public utilities, ban the use of NSA-derived evidence in state courts and prevent state universities from partnering with the NSA on research.
State or local officials ignoring the NSA sanctions would be fired, local governments refusing to comply would lose state grant funds and companies would be forever barred from state contracts.

The bill will be embedded below the video.

How To See What Gov't Agency Is Spying On You (Video)

By Susan Duclos

WereAreChange is joined by Alex Heid of HackMiami.org and FederalJack.com, who is a security consultant, to inform everyone how to determine what government agency is spying on your cell phones' unique IP address.

Amazingly, using his own Android phone, going through his settings and status he finds out who his phone is "talking to," so to speak and looks it up to determine his phone is talking to DINSO, Ministry of Defence in the United Kingdom.

Watch, learn, and use the knowledge to be aware of who is spying on your cell phone.

Huge! NSA Hacks Google's Cloud Worldwide (Video)

By Susan Duclos

According to newly released documents as reported by Wapo, discussed in the video below, Obama's NSA has hacked into Google's Cloud "worldwide", meaning Gmail, Google Docs, Maps, etc... in the biggest blow to citizens  privacy rights worldwide that has been exposed to date.

The NSA has done this without any legal justification or court orders whatsoever.

As the videographer states below, this is not a conspiracy theory, this is a major headlined story and makes alternative services, based overseas and offering guaranteed protection even more important.

Obama’s Spying Has EU Considering Sanctions Against US (Video)

By Susan Duclos

More fallout from the NSA revelations now includes the European Union considering sanctions against the US for the expanded spying the NSA has been conducting against some of our closest allies.

The agreement the EU is debating on suspending is the Terrorist Finance Tracking Program, which allows, according to Huffpo "access to funds transferred through the private, Belgium-based Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication, which handles the movement of money between banks worldwide."More in the video below:

Hysterical: Man Calls NSA In Attempt To Recover Deleted Email (Video)

By Susan Duclos

TheBlaze  reports Iranian-Dutch filmmaker Bahram Sadeghi deleted an email accidentally and couldn't retrieve it, so he decided to call the U.S. National Security Agency because they have a reputation of storing emails.

When the NSA employee wouldn't admitted to the collection of Internet data and emails, he decided to let her know he was an Iranian, therefore could possibly be a person of interest to the NSA, so could she check for him now?

What happened next is described in the video details as a "cat-and-mouse game with two NSA employees, where Sadeghi tried to draw out various admissions about surveillance programs, and the NSA tried to get his name and contact information."

Obama: NSA 'Accidentally' Accessed Citizens' Emails (Video)

By Susan Duclos

It has been recently revealed that the NSA's electronic spying program scooped up as many as 56,000 emails and other communications annually over three years by Americans not connected to terrorism.

That news came after a report showing an internal NSA audit identified 2,776 "incidents" or violations of the rules or court orders for spying on Americans or foreign targets in the United States.

In the graph shown previously but well worth showing again, it became apparent that the majority of those violations were authorized by presidential executive order.

In a new interview,on CNN's "New Day" show Friday, Obama claimed that the NSA had "accidentally" pulled the emails on some Americans.

Exactly how stupid does Obama think Americans are that we would believe this was an accident?

Presidential Executive Orders Violated Privacy Laws More Than FISA In NSA Audit (Videos)

By Susan Duclos

An internal NSA audit has identified 2,776 "incidents" or violations of the rules or court orders for spying on Americans or foreign targets in the United States.

As the graph below shows, since 2011 those illegalities and violations were separated by authority and the majority are listed as presidential executive order violations.

While much focus surrounding this audit is on the number of privacy violations, as the graph above shows, it is the abuse of presidential authority that is far more prevalent and should be highlighted.

When a president of a Republic so audaciously bypasses Congress and the rule of law, it then shows conclusively that we no longer live in a Republic, but are being ruled by a tyrant that believes he has no obligation to follow the laws set forth in the Constitution.

'We knew USG Would Come After Us'- Silent Mail Preemptively Shuts Down After Lavabit Closure (Video)

By Susan Duclos

Silent Circle has preemptively shut down its Silent Mail encrypted email service, after Lavabit was forced to shut down or "become complicit in crimes against the American people."

TechCrunch quotes Silent Circle CEO Michael Janke, saying the preemptive closure of their Silent Mail service was because "We knew USG would come after us."

In a statement to TechCrunch about whether the shut down was only because Silent Circle felt email was insecure, CEO Michael Janke tells us
“It goes deeper than that. There are some very high profile people on Silent Circle- and I mean very targeted people- as well as heads of state, human rights groups, reporters, special operations units from many countries. We wanted to be proactive because we knew USG would come after us due to the sheer amount of people who use us- let alone the “highly targeted high profile people”. They are completely secure and clean on Silent Phone, Silent Text and Silent Eyes, but email is broken because govt can force us to turn over what we have. So to protect everyone and to drive them to use the other three peer to peer products- we made the decision to do this before men on [SIC] suits show up. Now- they are completely shut down- nothing they can get from us or try and force from us- we literally have nothing anywhere.”
On Silent Circles website there is a message to their customers, which includes the statement "However, we have reconsidered this position. We’ve been thinking about this for some time, whether it was a good idea at all. Today, another secure email provider, Lavabit, shut down their system lest they “be complicit in crimes against the American people.” We see the writing the wall, and we have decided that it is best for us to shut down Silent Mail now. We have not received subpoenas, warrants, security letters, or anything else by any government, and this is why we are acting now."

Lavabit, the company reportedly used by NSA leaker Edward Snowden, put their full statement directly on Lavabit's main page.

"My Fellow Users,

I have been forced to make a difficult decision: to become complicit in crimes against the American people or walk away from nearly ten years of hard work by shutting down Lavabit. After significant soul searching, I have decided to suspend operations. I wish that I could legally share with you the events that led to my decision. I cannot. I feel you deserve to know what’s going on--the first amendment is supposed to guarantee me the freedom to speak out in situations like this.

Unfortunately, Congress has passed laws that say otherwise. As things currently stand, I cannot share my experiences over the last six weeks, even though I have twice made the appropriate requests.
What’s going to happen now? We’ve already started preparing the paperwork needed to continue to fight for the Constitution in the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. A favorable decision would allow me resurrect Lavabit as an American company.

This experience has taught me one very important lesson: without congressional action or a strong judicial precedent, I would _strongly_ recommend against anyone trusting their private data to a company with physical ties to the United States.

Sincerely,
Ladar Levison
Owner and Operator, Lavabit LLC

Defending the constitution is expensive! Help us by donating to the Lavabit Legal Defense Fund here."

Both companies are shuttering their encrypted email services rather than betray the trust of their users by allowing themselves to be forced to turn over private data to the Obama administration about their users.

Jennifer Granick, the Director of Civil Liberties at the Stanford Center for Internet and Society, wrote that "the U.S. government, in its rush to spy on everybody, may end up killing our most productive industry. Lavabit may just be the canary in the coal mine."

Another U.S. Coverup Exposed - DEA Agents Trained To Hide Where Investigations Originated (Video)

By Susan Duclos

The hits just keep coming against the Obama administration as news breaks that a secretive U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) unit is using "intelligence intercepts, wiretaps, informants and a massive database of telephone records to authorities across the nation to help them launch criminal investigations of Americans."

Not only are they using this information for purposes that have no connection to "national security," but they are actively trained to "recreate" the investigative trail to effectively cover up where the information originated, a practice that some experts say violates a defendant's Constitutional right to a fair trial.

The information origins are also being hidden from defense lawyers, and in some cases prosecutors and judges.

According to Nancy Gertner, a Harvard Law School professor who served as a federal judge from 1994 to 2011, "I have never heard of anything like this at all." She continues on to say "It is one thing to create special rules for national security. Ordinary crime is entirely different. It sounds like they are phonying up investigations."

Since the NSA programs and the metadata collected is only supposed to be used against terrorists, according to the Obama administration, guess that means we are all terrorists now.

NSA Whistleblowers- Anyone Who Says the Government Only Spies On Metadata Is Sadly Mistaken (Video)

By Susan Duclos

William Binney, NSA’s former director of global digital data, and a 32-year NSA veteran widely regarded as a “legend” within the agency and Russell Tice, who helped the NSA spy with satellites, were both interviewed by PBS.

The headline of this article says it all...... Anyone who says the government spies only on metadata is sadly mistaken, according to these two whistleblowers.

In the video below, Binney and Tice confirmed that the NSA is recording every word of every phone call made within the United States.

Transcript, via WashingtonBlog:

JUDY WOODRUFF: Both Binney and Tice suspect that today, the NSA is doing more than just collecting metadata on calls made in the U.S. They both point to this CNN interview by former FBI counterterrorism agent Tim Clemente days after the Boston Marathon bombing. Clemente was asked if the government had a way to get the recordings of the calls between Tamerlan Tsarnaev and his wife.

TIM CLEMENTE, former FBI counter-terrorism agent: On the national security side of the house, in the federal government, you know, we have assets. There are lots of assets at our disposal throughout the intelligence community and also not just domestically, but overseas. Those assets allow us to gain information, intelligence on things that we can’t use ordinarily in a criminal investigation. All digital communications are — there’s a way to look at digital communications in the past. And I can’t go into detail of how that’s done or what’s done. But I can tell you that no digital communication is secure.

JUDY WOODRUFF: Tice says after he saw this interview on television, he called some former workmates at the NSA.

RUSSELL TICE: Well, two months ago, I contacted some colleagues at NSA. We had a little meeting, and the question came up, was NSA collecting everything now? Because we kind of figured that was the goal all along. And the answer came back. It was, yes, they are collecting everything, contents word for word, everything of every domestic communication in this country.

JUDY WOODRUFF: Both of you know what the government says is that we’re collecting this — we’re collecting the number of phone calls that are made, the e-mails, but we’re not listening to them.

WILLIAM BINNEY: Well, I don’t believe that for a minute. OK?

I mean, that’s why they had to build Bluffdale, that facility in Utah with that massive amount of storage that could store all these recordings and all the data being passed along the fiberoptic networks of the world. I mean, you could store 100 years of the world’s communications here. That’s for content storage. That’s not for metadata.

Metadata if you were doing it and putting it into the systems we built, you could do it in a 12-by-20-foot room for the world. That’s all the space you need. You don’t need 100,000 square feet of space that they have at Bluffdale to do that. You need that kind of storage for content.

JUDY WOODRUFF: So, what does that say, Russell Tice, about what the government — you’re saying — your understanding is of what the government does once these conversations take place, is it your understanding they’re recorded and kept?

RUSSELL TICE: Yes, digitized and recorded and archived in a facility that is now online. And they’re kind of fibbing about that as well, because Bluffdale is online right now. And that’s where the information is going. Now, as far as being able to have an analyst look at all that, that’s impossible, of course. And I think, semantically, they’re trying to say that their definition of collection is having literally a physical analyst look or listen, which would be disingenuous.
