President Trump Ends His Visit To China, Visiting Temple Of Heaven, Departing, Refueling In AK With Press Gaggle, Ending At The WH
On May 15, 2026, their last day in China, President Trump joined President Xi for a tour of the Temple of Heaven:
President Trump and President Xi also gave a brief to the press in China prior to the delegation's departure. President Trump expressed his thanks for the incredible visit. He thinks there were some fantastic trade deals for both countries. They did discuss Iran, both want the conflict to end, agree that Iran can't have nuclear weapons, and the straight needs to be open for commerce. President Xi and his wife will visit the US on September 24, 2026.
Then President Trump and his delegation departed from Beijing, China to return to the states via Alaska with the same fanfare as he experienced upon his arrival.
Of course, all gifts given to President Trump and his delegation (including members of the press) by Chinese officials were required to be trashed because of extreme security risks for espionage. These gifts had to be dumped in the trash bin before delegation members could board AF1. All event access passes, press badges, and lanyards provided by Beijing security were also trashed before being allowed onto AF1. Delegates kept their own technology locked up on AF1 and used burner phones during the time they were on Chinese soil. I suspect the Chinese delegation will do the same when they visit the US.
On May 15, 2026, when the plane stopped to refuel in Anchorage, Alaska, President Trump gaggled with the press for more than 25 minutes. As usual, the press were all over the place with their questions. I have grouped the questions and answers based on topic starting with the non-China topics first:
IRAN
Yes, the latest proposal from Iran was rejected. Until they agree to No Nukes Forever, every proposal will be rejected. President Xi agrees that Iran can never have a nuclear weapon. As to the Straight, President Xi is a buyer of Iranian oil, we are not. We do not care so much how long the straight is closed, Xi is concerned; however, President Xi has decided to purchase oil from Alaska. It's closer and there is no supply bottleneck between China and Alaska. As to asking President Xi to apply pressure to Iran, it is not needed. President Trump refused to commit to bombing Iran again, all he would say is Iran can never have a nuclear weapon. As to the strike on the girls' school at the beginning of the Iran conflict, all President Trump would say is that it is under investigation. President Trump clearly stated that Obama and Biden are responsible for where Iran was before we hit them and destroyed their military. However, he said Iran did admit they cannot get to the nuclear dust and will need assistance to turn it over.
RUBIO
Apparently, the press was enamored with one of the outfits Secretary Rubio wore. President Trump said he thought it looked good. However, he, himself, did not think he could pull off an outfit like that.
TEXAS SENATE RACE
President Trump said he knows both candidates well; but, has not yet chosen to endorse anyone. On the other hand, he said the Democrats had a 'weird' candidate. He's a 6-gender-weirdo who was vegan but knows Texans will not elect a vegan (they are definitely cattle country), so all of a sudden, he's no longer vegan. President Trump is sure both Republican candidates will easily defeat the 6-gender-no-longer-vegan Democrat.
NORTH KOREA
President Trump says he has a very good relationship with Kim Jong-un. He is respectful of our country. That is all he would say about North Korea.
TREASON
President Trump is calling out propaganda media for what he considers to be "treasonous reporting" with NYT & CNN being the worst. He did say that their editors tell them what to write. Then he said he thinks it's treason when the propaganda media writes that Iran is doing well militarily when they've been told that Iran's military is completely decimated. Every one of their planes is gone, every one of their ships is at the bottom of the sea. President Trump then postulated at the NYT's readership is down because of the fake stories they publish.
CUBA
President Trump said he would let the DOJ answer questions about indicting Cuban ruler Castro. He did say that Cuba is a country in decline.
TARIFFS
President Trump said he and President Xi did not discuss tariffs.
UKRAINE
Yes, Ukraine was discussed with President Xi. He agreed that we would like to see Ukraine settled. Ukraine took a huge hit May 14. A total of 25,000 people died last month.
UK
The British Prime Minister is in a lot of trouble between energy (oil) and immigration. President Trump says the UK should open up the North Sea for drilling oil. But, the British Prime Minister would prefer windmills that kill birds, ruin landscape, and are unsightly.
TAIWAN
President Xi does not want Taiwan to fight for independence. China has held control over Taiwan for over 1,000 years. Even though President Xi thinks there might be a war against the US over Taiwan, President Trump did not think that was a possibility. As to arms sales to Taiwan, President Trump said he would make a determination soon. What about the 1982 assurances President Reagan signed? The last thing we need right now is a war over 9,500 miles away. He did not speak to President Xi about his ideas concerning Taiwan.
DECLINE OF US
President Xi mentioned that the US was in decline for 4 years (during the Autopen administration), he followed that with the turnaround President Trump has established since he started his 2nd term. President Xi called it a "virtual miracle" and now the US is the hottest country in the world.
CHINA - TRADE
China will buy billions of dollars worth of soybeans from American farmers. China will also buy 200 Boeing 777's with the possibility of expanding to 750 if the product is well made.
CHINA - OIL SANCTIONS
President Trump will make a determination on lifting sanctions on Chinese companies buying Iranian oil soon.
CHINA - COVID FROM WUHAN
President Trump said he blamed President Xi for Wuhan and President Trump was right. It affected the China-US relationship for quite some time. But, we had a great relationship before Wuhan and now that relationship is better than ever.
CHINA - FENTANYL
President Trump said he put a penalty tariff on China over Fentanyl (and its components). Fentanyl in the US is way down and the penalty tariff could be part of the reason
CHINA - IS PRESIDENT XI A DICTATOR
President Trump was asked if he though President Xi was a dictator. He replied that he does not think about it. He recognizes President Xi as President of China. He's the ruler in China. You deal with what you have. President Trump respects President Xi, he's very smart, he loves his country. Whether or not President Xi is a dictator is for the press to figure out.
CHINA - POLITICAL PRISONERS
President Trump said he brought up the political prisoners with President Xi and that President Xi said those are tough issues. President Trump thinks President Xi is giving serious consideration to releasing the pastor. As to the other one, President Xi said he would strongly consider what is best in the situation.
CHINA - NUCLEAR ARMS
China has 600 nukes by now, President Trump spoke about denuclearization with both China and Russia. These are beginning times. We have another 4 meetings this year. President Xi said he wants to attend G20 in Miami later this year and President Trump thinks it is important that President Xi attend the conference. The talk is about denuclearization, building down of the nuke arsenal.
CHINA - SPYING
They spy on us, we spy on them. We know about how they are spying on us, and they probably know how we are spying on them. It's a spying infrastructure.
CHINA - TECHNOLOGY
Advanced computer chips did not come up in discussion. Jensen was there, so he might have discussed those chips in his sessions. On AI, we're leading by a lot; but, China is very strong in their own AI program. President Trump said there is a possibly working with China to create guard rails for AI. They had a good conversation about biological nuclear cyber as well.
President Trump reminded everyone that this was an historic visit to China. Then he told everyone to enjoy the rest of the flight back to DC and shut down the gaggle.
On May 15, 2026, upon arrival to the White House, President Trump gave extremely brief remarks to the press. He took a few seconds to tell the press: "it was a great success, we did great trade deals, it was an historic moment, and the press will be hearing about everything later." Before he headed into the White House.
Finally, on May 15, 2026, the President sat down with Bret Baier to talk about China and other topics. President Trump reiterated that he has a good relationship with President Xi. That trade between our 2 countries is strong especially in soybeans from American farmers. China ordered 200 Boeing 777's and if China likes what they receive they could order another 500 to 550 more of them. China was surprised at how much progress we have made in AI and we are now substantially ahead of China in that race.
Both countries agree that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon. Both want to see the Iran conflict end. We want the 'nuclear dust' and are willing to go get it if that's what it takes. The Straight of Hormuz needs to be opened, Iran has been using the Straight as a weapon against the rest of the world. Even if it takes another 4 weeks, President Trump said he "wants to do the job right" and considering Vietnam lasted 19 years and other wars lasted between 7 and 22 years, for being in conflict with Iran for only 2 1/2 months at this point is amazing. In another month (or so) President Trump expects for the Straight to be reopened and the oil to be flowing and gas prices at home to drop.
