Robohope: First Humanoid Robot Sent Into Space To 'Get Along' With Humans (Video)

By Susan Duclos

Kirobo is a 13 inch Japanese android with voice-recognition, face-recognition, ability to talk, recognize emotions and learn, and on Sunday this little guy was sent into space, headed for International Space Station. His mission is to befriend robots and humans.

Kirobo was jointly designed by the University of Tokyo, Toyota Motor Corp and Dentsu Inc., and can operate in conditions that include zero gravity.

Designers claims that with his voice-recognition, face-recognition and communication technology, Kirobo can have a meaningful conversation with human beings and has the ability to learn new terms and concepts.

"I want to help create a world where humans and robots can live together and get along," Kirobo told reporters when the project was unveiled in late June.
