Waldoboro's only pharmacy closing

WALDOBORO, Maine (AP) — Waldoboro's only pharmacy is closing and residents say it's a major inconvenience.

The independent Waltz Pharmacy announced it will close later this month, meaning residents of the town of 5,000 will have to drive about 20 minutes to have prescriptions filled in Rockland or Damariscotta. That's not easy for low-income and elderly patients.
Waltz dispenses about 1,000 prescriptions per week.

Owner Dean Jacobs tells WCSH-TV (http://on.wcsh6.com/TPq8v9 ) there are a couple reasons he's closing. He says Medicaid and private insurance companies have been cutting the amount they pay for prescriptions, affecting the pharmacy's bottom line. He'd also like to focus full-time attention on the company's growing long-term care pharmacy business in Brunswick.

Ruby Tuesday, Lone Star close in Lincoln

The Lone Star closing came as more of a surprise.

The Texas-based restaurant chain was just a few months short of its 20th anniversary in Lincoln and had given no public indication that it might close.

A spokeswoman for Lone Star would confirm only that the restaurant had closed but did not say why. She said the company is helping employees try to find other jobs.

Lone Star is next door to a site on which CVS plans to build a another new pharmacy, but CVS spokesman Mike DeAngelis said the restaurant site is not included in the company's development plans.

Ruby Tuesday has another Lincoln location, at 2700 North Hill Road, which is a few blocks north of 27th and Superior streets. The Lincoln Lone Star location was the only one in Nebraska.
