Where does National Security Fit in?

Yesterday I did a few posts, one of which asked a very serious question. "
Are we safer yet"? The other was a little comedy relief for those that needed a quick laugh called the "Democratic Dilemma"

Today though, I have seen a few very troubling things on the news, online and offline.

I saw an interview with Howard Dean, where his only "plan" for Iraq is immediate withdrawal, then within seconds another interview with Adam Schiff, another Democratic Congressman, where he said that an immediate withdrawl is not an option, then a third from Joe Lieberman, where he states that he would not have been voted in if the people expected an immediate withdrawal.

Then we have Nancy Pelosi saying Iraq is "not a war" but a "situation".

Finally we have this piece from Wapo saying that Webb is going to be a senate maverick.

Say all you want about President Bush, but at least he did what he thought was right and determined to stand firm in the face of our enemies. Whether you agree with him or not about Iraq being part of that equation, he believed it, and he took action.

The Democratic party cannot even agree on a plan of action, and in their infighting just a few days after the election already showing that they cannot agree with EACH OTHER, how on earth do we think they will be able to work in a bipartisan fashion? They cannot even get along with their own party.

I ask again... do YOU feel safer yet?

Where does our National Security come into play? Have you heard one person in the Democratic party refer to THAT in the last few days?

We have Khamenei calling the US elections a victory for Iran and Abu Hamza al-Muhajir, al-Qaeda praising the liberals and democrats and swearing that no matter what is done, they WILL attack the White House.

From Khamenei:

"Since Washington's hostile and hawkish policies have always been against the Iranian nation, this defeat is actually an obvious victory for the Iranian nation."

From Abu Hamza al-Muhajir:

"We announce today the end of a phase of the jihad (holy war) and the start of a new one... to usher in the project of an Islamic caliphate and restore Islam's glory," Abu Hamza al-Muhajer said.

"We swear we will not rest from our jihad... before blowing up the filthiest house, dubbed the White House," in the course of establishing the caliphate which began with the proclamation of an Islamic state in Iraq, he said.

So, while the Democrats are busy fighting with each other and publicly disagreeing on strategy, where do we stand in all this? Who is worried about OUR safety? Who is protecting us from another 9/11?

The President? Our soldiers?

As far as our soldiers are concerned, the American public has, and I quote from a soldier here, "kicked them in the teeth", so what makes you think they care if you live or die anymore?

Because of this, September 11th will soon be overshadowed by these same enemies.. my advice to you is get your lazy, self centered ass up and make peace with your God, and your family.. cause, time will come when they may not be there for you................Because you kicked me in the teeth, and so many others, I know I won't any more.. "

The president has his hands tied now, for every safety issue before us, the Democratic party that does not take our safety seriously (if they did they would have at least mentioned it ONCE in the past few days), so those democrats can simply refuse to deal with it, as they have been doing.

We have Iran that is out of control and refuses to stop their enrichment program, North Korea, who might or might not quit playing with his nukes while we try to reason with him, our troops poised on the iranian border, and al-Qaeda happily continuing to plan attacks against "western interests". For those of you slow on the uptake...THATS US.

According to the same article, al-Qaeda has sent their minions out of Afghanistan and back to their home countries, "particularly Iraq" which al-Qaeda has already said would be in preparation for our withdrawal so that THEY can take full control of Iraq.

Now, don't get me wrong, it is nice, warm and fuzzy that the Republicans and Democrats feel they have "common ground" on energy, immigration and education, but that isn't going to mean squat when al-Qaeda manages to bring a nuclear device here and takes out one of our major cities, with the fallout hitting a couple more.

Diddly, squat, nada, nil......it will mean ZERO if our National security continues to be ignored.

Deny it all you want to, but it is now an established fact that al-Qaeda is IN Iraq, our soldiers, on the ground have told you this, in case you missed it. You can argue all day long about whether al-Qaeda was there before we took Saddam out or not...it doesn't MATTER....they are there NOW and our problem is whether we give them Iraq or not.

We better get off our asses and start demanding answers. Not to who did what and when or what went wrong, but answers to what are we going to do to protect us HERE on our soil. Especially since we have just told the world that we are willing to back down when a fight gets tough, that we are willing to admit defeat despite our soldiers on the ground telling us we are making progress.

We have just put a huge bullseye on our asses.... what are we going to do to see to it that no one takes a shot at it?
