In a perfect example of media bias, the New York Times once again produces a story that ignores what the Iraqi leaders are telling them.
The head line: Sectarian Attack is Worst in Baghdad Since Inavsion.
The story goes on to claim that the attack in baghdad is sectarian in nature and completely ignores this statement by Major General Abdel Karim Khalaf, an Interior Ministry spokesman showing that al-Qaeda is deliberately playing one side against the other in Iraq, for its own purposes.
"It is clear al-Qaeda did this. It is their way to attack innocent people. There are no governmental buildings, no army bases, no security forces attacked.
"The victims were only innocent ordinary civilians."
This type of reporting without getting the full and complete picture or the facts of the issue is EXACTLY what I mean in my previous post about our media spreading the enemy propaganda. They do it so well too. If you think the NYT will correct the mistaken headlines, you live in a dream world, They never do.
Then again, perhaps their purpose IS to spread the word al-Qaeda wants spread, instead of spreading the words our soldiers ask to have said for them.
As Pam says over at Atlas Shrugs:
Bottom line, America was sold a bill of goods for years. America was lead to believe things were going poorly, badly in fact, in almost everything. The brilliant, busting, burgeoning economy (4.4% jobless rate!) was derided, Iraq was depicted as "another Vietnam" (not according to our troops or our vets), and the fact that we have not had another Islamic attack since 9/11 is astonishing. The MSM and the left continually insist there is no enemy, refuse to speak of the global jihad and calls anyone that does speak of Islamofascsim "racist" or "fearmonger". But all you have to do is go to the airport to board a plane with your one 3-1-1 plastic bag and stand on security lines to get to the security line and you know this is some serious imaginary enemy.
Is it any wonder why there are so many people that haven't a clue as to what is really happening in Iraq?
Perhaps if more would take the time to read the words of our military, our soldiers on the ground in Iraq, instead of relying on those that have been proven to lie time and again (MSM), they would actually have a little more truth and a little less propaganda.
[UPDATE] 7pm-
On a completely unrelated matter (not Iraq) but related to the fact that major media does not care to get the facts straight before publishing a story.. (Hat Tip to Stop the ACLU)
ABC's article:
Joe Mroszczyk, president of the College Republicans at Boston University, admits he set out to stir up a hornet’s nest when he came up with the idea of offering a whites-only scholarship at the school. But he got a little more buzz than he bargained for.
“To tell you the truth, we didn’t see this coming,” Mroszczyk said. “The Drudge Report picked it up yesterday, and today I just finished a round of national interviews. It’s kind of overwhelming.”
All the media attention is focused on a $250 Caucasian Achievement and Recognition Scholarship offered by Mroszczyk and the BU chapter of the College Republicans. Applicants must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher; they must write two essays; and, here’s the kicker, they must be at least one-quarter Caucasian.
The application itself offers an explanation: “We believe that racial preferences in all their forms are perhaps the worst form of bigotry confronting America today.”
According to Mroszczyk, his group is offering the scholarship to point out “how ridiculous it is to have any sort of racially based scholarship.”
At BU, for example, students who are at least one-quarter Hispanic can apply for a National Hispanic Recognition Scholarship.
“There are plenty of poor, white, academically gifted students who need that money just as much,” Mroszczyk said.
Now HERE is where they deviate from truth into the land of fiction. Page two of the article states clearly:
But for all the talk, there are still no takers for the scholarship. The application has been available online since Nov. 7, and so far not one student has filled it out.
That is the part that they either forgot to fact check or simply lied... you pick.
Shown on The Daily Free Press:
RWU College Republicans adviser June Speakman said the organization started receiving complaints as soon as it released the scholarship. Despite protests, 15 students applied for the scholarship.
Something SO simple to find, so tell me why ABC couldn't find it?
I used to think the news was a way to find out what was going on in the world, now I find myself having to double and triple check everything, just to make sure that the news I am hearing is actually true.
