Tens Of Thousands Of Americans Help Chick-Fil-A Give Liberals A Free Speech Lesson

By Susan Duclos

It still amazes that liberals and gay activists will fight for their right to speak out in support of gay marriage, yet declare boycotts on anyone that uses their own free speech rights to speak out in defense of traditional marriage being between a man and a woman and liberals will scream "anti-gay" at the top of their lungs against anyone that ares exercise their own free speech rights if it disagrees with their own.

Chick-fil-A president Dan Cathy, when asked about reports that he was against same-sex marriage, said "Well, guilty as charged,” adding, "We are very much supportive of the family — the biblical definition of the family unit … We intend to stay the course. We know that it might not be popular with everyone, but thank the Lord, we live in a country where we can share our values and operate on biblical principles."

Liberals and gay activists went nuts and declared a boycott against Chick-fil-A...but, free speech believers fought back yesterday with a Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day, which tens of thousands of people participated in.

Yesterday, photos from across the country were headlined, showing the massive support Dan Cathy and Chick-Fil-A received in the name of free speech, standing up against the intolerance of the far liberal left and their attempt to intimidate people from speaking their mind.

Reports show that Chick-fil-A's owner told Rick Warren that they set a new world record in sales yesterday.

CBS6, WTVR reports that Chick-Fil-A had a record setting day:

Throngs of people went to Chick-fil-A restaurants across the country Wednesday. Lines snaked around a Chick-fil-A in Dallas, CNN affiliate WFAA reported. Patrons packed a Chick-fil-A in Smyrna, Georgia. A food court with a Chick-fil-A was flooded in Laurel, Mississippi.

Liberals claim that those participating in the Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day, started by Mike Huckabee, are anti-gay proponents, haters, showing they simply aren't "getting" the message that they have created a free speech battle and everyone is entitled to their opinion and to speak it without threats or intimidation.

The majority of Americans believe in free speech and no matter the opponent or the underlying issue when the freedom to speak your mind is threatened, they will and did stand up for anyone's right to express their opinion, whether they agree with it or not.

Via CNN, we see evidence of this:

Walker told iReport he chose to eat at the restaurant Wednesday "in support of free speech" and waited 40 minutes to receive his order.

[...]

Roger Cates told iReport he had lunch at Chick-fil-A in Owensboro, Kentucky, and planned to return with his family for dinner. Political leaders who have criticized the chain, like the mayors of Boston and Chicago, are hypocritical, he said.

"I think it is ironic that the so-called forces of tolerance and inclusion are calling for the exclusion of Chick-fil-A from cities simply because of the beliefs of their chairman. ... People that disagree with me have a right to their opinion, and I have a right to mine," he said.

[...]

The Blairsville, Georgia, resident told iReport he doesn't care about the issue of same-sex marriage but felt compelled to support Chick-fil-A because "it's an uber-successful privately held corporation" that "happened to take a public stand against a topic that the liberal media chooses to champion."

[...]

Wendy Neill of Searcy, Arkansas, told iReport she brought her two daughters, ages 12 and 14, with her to Chick-fil-A on Wednesday.

"It was good for them to see (that) this is what it means to be an American, and we have free speech, and when we want to make a statement, we can make it," she said.
Via Huffington Post we see evidence:

"It’s like I’m in line to vote," Richard David, 71, of Lincoln Park, told the Sun-Times at the downtown Chick-fil-A. "I’m voting for free speech."

Via Philly.com, we see evidence:

But as she waited for breakfast in Powder Springs, Ga., Greene was quick to say that she had no hatred toward anyone. Her support comes down to free speech.

"Why can't [Cathy] say what he believes without being persecuted for it?" she said. "We have our freedoms. And freedom of speech is one of our greatest."

Huckabee sums it up:

"Too often, those on the left make corporate statements to show support for same-sex marriage, abortion, or profanity, but if Christians affirm traditional values, we're considered homophobic, fundamentalists, hate-mongers, and intolerant," Huckabee said on the Facebook page, adding that neither the company nor the Cathy family was involved in proposing or promoting the event.
