A Tale Of Two Videos- Obama 2009, Vs Romney Ad 2012

By Susan Duclos

Liberals are desperately trying to distance themselves from the $700+ billion in cuts from Medicare to fund Obamacare, which will take effect at the beginning of 2013. Claiming Republicans are misrepresenting those cuts, that Medicare really wasn't touched, etc........

Well, instead of listening to conservatives, people can see Barack Obama himself admit to those cuts, admit they were made to fund Obamacare and even vow to veto any bills that passed Congress that would undo those cuts.

Barack Obama, November, 2009:

Mitt Romney's campaign released an ad titled "Paid In," which attacks Obama for the $700+ billion cut to Medicare, but once again the campaign neglects to use Obama's own words from 2009 within the ad itself, which could have made the impact of the ad below far more damaging to Obama.

VOICEOVER: “You paid in to Medicare for years… Every paycheck... Now, when you need it… Obama has cut $716 billion dollars from Medicare. Why? To pay for Obamacare.... So now the money you paid for your guaranteed healthcare… Is going to a massive new government program that’s not for you.”

To political junkies, who have all seen the Obama interview in the clip at the top, this is a hard hitting ad by the Romney campaign.

To American voters, who will see the ad on television, it is strong but if they aren't aware of Obama's own words previously, it won't resonate as much as to those who had seen it.

The Romney ad is good, but it could have been so much better.
