Another Fact Check Organization Calls Harry Reid A Liar

By Susan Duclos

Yesterday it was PolitiFact giving Harry Reid a "Pants on Fire" rating for his bogus claims about Mitt Romney's taxes.... today it is Washington Post's The Fact Checker giving Reid four Pinocchios.

But Romney’s 2010 return and his estimated 2011 return do show that he paid substantial taxes in those years. In 2010, he earned nearly $22 million, including $3 million in taxable interest, nearly $5 million in dividends and more than $12 million in capital gains. He reduced his taxes by giving $3 million in charitable contributions (much of it in appreciated stock, which shielded him from paying additional capital gains.)

In other words, this tax return shows a portfolio that is not structured to yield zero taxes. We spoke to a number of tax experts, all of whom said that, given Romney’s current portfolio, it was highly improbable for Romney to have had 10 years with tax-free returns — though there could have been one or two years with little or no taxes.

Harry Reid is fully aware that when making accusations, the burden of proof lies with the accuser, and fact check organizations are showing Reid has lost any credibility he might have had left by attempting to create a rumor, label it as fact, in order to distract the public from the issues they want addressed which is the economy and job creation.

Those are topics the Obama campaign, liberals and Democratic leaders are desperate to avoid at any cost.

Repeating what was written here yesterday- "They are scared to talk about jobs and the economy, they have no actual ammunition left against Romney because they have thrown everything but the kitchen sink at him and it hasn't lowered his polls numbers at all, so they are forced to create outright lies to try to attack with."
