The Hill reports:
White House press secretary Jay Carney on Tuesday pushed back on House Speaker John Boehner's (R-Ohio) remark that President Obama "doesn't give a damn about middle-class Americans," calling the criticism "astounding."
Speaking to reporters at a press briefing, Carney said helping the middle class is the "principal preoccupation" of Obama's presidency, adding that the president's focus from day one has been on the middle class.
"All of his domestic initiatives are focused principally on the middle class," Carney said. "It's the reason he's running for reelection."
As a middle class American, let me just say to Barack Obama, "Stop being preoccupied with us, it is killing us. Just go away!"
Obama's "principal preoccupation" with us has given us over $500 billion in new taxes as part of Obamacare. 75 percent of those are levied against the "middle class" people making less than $120,000 a year, that he is so preoccupied with.
Unemployment is 8.2 percent and has been above 8 percent for 41 straight months. The U6 real unemployment is 14.9 percent. (Source- Bureau of Labor Statistics)
Manufacturing is down across the board. Retail sales are down for the third straight month.
Our country has been been downgraded for the very first time ever by credit rating agencies. (Source- New York Times)
Our nation debt went up more in Obama's first three years and two months than it did under Bush in eight. (Source- CBS News)
Our yearly deficit cannot be paid for even if we took every dollar from every rich person, corporation, movie profits, home sales etc..... leaving nothing to take for the following years deficit.
That is just off the top of my head... bottom line is that Obama's attention, his "preoccupation" with those of us considered the middle class, is killing us, so please, Barack, STOP IT.
