The war against the Second Amendment continues, this time with a new Android app that asks users to expose the home addresses of gun owners they deem as "potentially unsafe."
The Gun Geo Marker App was released to Google Play app store on July 7, 2013, asking users to mark the homes and businesses of gun owners they believe are "suspected unsafe gun owners," and bills itself as a tool to collect information.
Almost immediately negative reviews were calling it "dangerous," and "invasive," as well as pointing out the app would allow "criminals to determine where they might steal firearms," and that the company would be an "accomplice to any firearm theft that will occur due to the existence of this app."
John Lott, gun expert and author of the book "More Guns, Less Crime," says "This makes those who don't have guns an easier target for criminals. It’s a safety issue." Lott continues "I’ve debated a lot of gun control advocates over the years, and I’ve never met someone who has been willing to put up a sign in front of their house indicating that their home is a gun-free zone."
