The political landscape is heating up and an argument between a Hillary Clinton supporter and his brother-in-law, a Barack Obama supporter, led to one man being stabbed and the other being arrested.
Jose Ortiz, 28, a Hillary Clinton supporter is in jail today after stabbing his brother-in-law, Sean Shurelds, who is a Barack Obama supporter, following a political argument between the two men.
According to Risa Furman, the Montgomery County, Pa., District Attorney, "One is a supporter of Barack Obama, the other is a supporter of Hillary Clinton, and an argument of words turned bloody when one brother-in-law tried to choke the other and the victim then responded with a knife and stabbed his brother-in-law in the stomach."
Mr. Ortiz is behind bars facing felony assault charges with a $20,000 bond and Mr. Shurelds was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Police supposedly found the weapon that was used to stab Mr. Shurelds in the dishwasher of the home they fought in.
Two interesting aspects of this case are that Mr. Ortiz is a registered Republican that is planning to vote for Hillary Clinton and that vote might not count because if he is convected of the felony charge, he will ineligible to vote at all.
[Update] Smoking Gun has a copy of the police complaint.
