Big Brother is watching Americans at an escalated level and now wants to watch more as reports come out that the Federal government now is demanding web firms hand over user passwords.
With the password, which is usually stored in encrypted form, the U.S. government can access confidential information, impersonate the user, watch everything the user does, where they go online, everything.
One Internet industry source claims they have seen the government ask but they "push back," and another claims some companies respond with "over my dead body."
Some of the government orders demand not only a user's password but also the encryption algorithm and the so-called salt, according to a person familiar with the requests. A salt is a random string of letters or numbers used to make it more difficult to reverse the encryption process and determine the original password. Other orders demand the secret question codes often associated with user accounts.
This administration is out of control.
