Fox Exclusive: U.N. Elects Iran to Commission on Women's Rights

Without fanfare, the United Nations this week elected Iran to its Commission on the Status of Women, handing a four-year seat on the influential human rights body to a theocratic state in which stoning is enshrined in law and lashings are required for women judged "immodest."

Just days after Iran abandoned a high-profile bid for a seat on the U.N. Human Rights Council, it began a covert campaign to claim a seat on the Commission on the Status of Women, which is "dedicated exclusively to gender equality and advancement of women," according to its website.

Buried 2,000 words deep in a U.N. press release distributed Wednesday on the filling of "vacancies in subsidiary bodies," was the stark announcement: Iran, along with representatives from 10 other nations, was "elected by acclamation," meaning that no open vote was requested or required by any member states — including the United States.



This news comes after major headlines a couple days ago informed the world that Iran "warned suntanned women and girls who looked like "walking mannequins" will be arrested as part of a new drive to enforce the Islamic dress code"

Flashback, March 2010:

As sports stadiums closed the doors to women attending sports events; as family courtrooms denied the rights of women to custody in divorce; as “proper” women’s dress became part of a hidden discourse of Iranian social criticism calling dress code enforcement officers “Chastity Guards” and “Morality Police;” women working in the field of speaking publicly on the issues of gender equality have been placed in ever increasing danger.

“The women’s rights movement has borne the brunt of this repression, in particular since the launch of the ‘One Million Signatures’ Campaign, in August 2006. This campaign seeks to provide education on women’s rights at the grassroots level and to obtain a repeal of discriminatory laws against women. To this end, the Campaign collects signatures that it plans to submit to the Parliament,” said the International Federation for Human Rights in an August 2007 appeal to the IRI.

The IRI is “in full compliance with the relevant international commitments it has taken on in a genuine and long-term approach to safeguard human rights,” said Secretary General of Iran’s High Council for Human Rights, Mohammad Larijani, at a recent United Nations review of human rights violations at the February 2010 UN Human Rights Council session in Geneva.

If a woman collects signatures on a petition to change discriminatory laws in Iran, she is currently likely to be detained and sentenced to prison terms. Upon release, if it has been decided that she could leave incarceration, bails are set at a high and publicly punitive amount. Access to family, to legal council and to dignity in these cases have been largely undermined.


The key paragraph from the UN Press release:

In addition, four members were elected to the Forum by acclamation. They included Simon William M’Viboudoulou (Congo), endorsed by the African States group; Paimaneh Hasteh (Iran), endorsed by the Asian States group; and Helen Kaljuläte (Estonia) and Andrey A. Nikiforov (Russian Federation), both endorsed by the Eastern European States group.


You would think this was nothing more than a bad joke if it wasn't the UN.

Un-freakin-believable.

[Update] As a side note, where the hell are the liberal bloggers and the media? They claim to be for women's rights, feminism, etc.... yet reactions from this travesty, for the moment, are only coming from the right.... birds chirping on the left at the moment.

HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOO? Is anyone home? Where is your outrage people.. say something for heaven sake. This is an issue where the left and the right could finally unite, agree on... isn't it?

[Update #2] Obama didn't lift a finger nor raise an objection, via Commentary Magazine:

As Jen noted, in refusing to lift a finger in opposition to Iran’s bid to join the Commission on the Status of Women, the Obami have once again abdicated the traditional role America has played at the UN: as a moral firewall preventing the incineration of Turtle Bay in a blaze of Orwellian farce. This is not only another example of smart diplomacy in action, but of the frequently noted phenomenon that all Obama’s promises come with an expiration date. Instead of helping to reform the UN’s appalling human-rights system, the United States is now complicit in it. Maybe Obama will say that we are “bearing witness.”

Dick Durbin Admits People 'have to be able to present identification'

Does this mean Durbin will stand up for Arizona's new immigration law?

I mentioned this in the last post, but I don't want it missed in the linkfest, so it gets it very own post.

Durbin is defending a portion of the Democratic proposal for immigration reform where he says "The biometric identification card is a critical element here. For a long time it was resisted by many groups, but now we live in a world where we take off our shoes at the airport and pull out our identification.

People understand that in this vulnerable world, we have to be able to present identification. We want it to be reliable, and I think that’s going to help us in this debate on immigration."


Arizona has passed a law which would require people show valid identification to prove they are in America legally, or they will be detained until they can prove their status or until it is proven they are here illegally.

So, does that statement mean Durbin agrees with the law and Arizona has the right to ask for identification if there is a reasonable suspicion that someone is not here legally?

As for giving time to people to obtain identification, that is a non starter as an argument, the bill leaves plenty of time to get ID before it is implemented.

Gallup: 'More Americans Favor Than Oppose Arizona Immigration Law'

Gallup finds that a majority of national adults that have heard of Arizona's new immigration law, making it a state crime (it is already a federal one) to be in the country illegally and allowing the police to detain those suspected of being in the country illegally if they cannot produce proof they are legal.

More than three-quarters of Americans have heard about the state of Arizona's new immigration law, and of these, 51% say they favor it and 39% oppose it.


The majority of Republicans favor it, a plurality of Independents favor it and only Democrats show a majority opposing it.

Another poll, by Angus Reid Public Opinion poll, using national adults as well, finds those in favor of Arizona's immigration law, higher in numbers than Gallup does.

Seventy-one percent of poll respondents said they'd support requiring their own police to determine people's U.S. status if there was "reasonable suspicion" the people were illegal immigrants, the poll found.

An equal percentage supported arresting those people if they couldn't prove they were legally in the United States.

Almost two-thirds, or 64 percent, said they believed immigration hurt the United States, with nearly six in 10, or 58 percent, saying illegal immigrants took jobs away from American workers, the poll found.

When asked about solving the status of illegal immigrants, 45 percent said undocumented workers should be required to leave their jobs and be deported, the poll found.


Democrats are already pushing amnesty in their new proposals, despite overwhelming opposition from across the country.

Seeking to woo Republicans, the 26-page framework, which has not yet been written into a formal bill, emphasizes first taking steps to limit illegal immigration before offering new rights for those here illegally. But the REPAIR (Real Enforcement with Practical Answers for Immigration Reform) proposal, as Democrats dubbed it, also would create a pathway to legal status for an estimated 10.8 million people who are already in the country illegally, an idea opposed by many conservatives.

One portion of the Democrats proposal would be ID cards, biometric ID cards, an idea many conservatives would actually get behind, but Democrats are running into opposition from their own party base as well as groups such as ACLU.

“The cardholder’s identity will be verified by matching the biometric identifier stored within the microprocessing chip on the card to the identifier provided by the cardholder that shall be read by the scanner used by the employer,” states the Democratic legislative proposal.

The American Civil Liberties Union, a civil liberties defender often aligned with the Democratic Party, wasted no time in blasting the plan.

“Creating a biometric national ID will not only be astronomically expensive, it will usher government into the very center of our lives. Every worker in America will need a government permission slip in order to work. And all of this will come with a new federal bureaucracy — one that combines the worst elements of the DMV and the TSA,” said Christopher Calabrese, ACLU legislative counsel.

“America’s broken immigration system needs real, workable reform, but it cannot come at the expense of privacy and individual freedoms,” Calabrese added.

The ACLU said “if the biometric national ID card provision of the draft bill becomes law, every worker in America would have to be fingerprinted.”

8 years is no path to citizenship. The biometric cards will be used for all Americans after they gain traction with use for immigrants. We need to stop over-funding law enforcement and concentrate of funding domestic programs that will help everyone.


Just think.. how DARE a proposal have money to enforce the law, how freaking DARE them!!!!

Interestingly enough, while Democrats rant and Rave about Arizona's new immigration law which would require an ID be produced to prove being in the country legally, some admit producing ID (for the ID card) is a normal procedure.

Exactly what Arizona has been saying this whole time Mr. Durbin.

Reports are now coming out that show Barack Obama is encouraging Democrats to wait before dealing with the immigration issue. The toxic political atmosphere for Democrats going into November may just be the tipping point here.

Immigration reform has become the first of President Barack Obama's major priorities dropped from the agenda of an election-year Congress facing voter disillusionment. Sounding the death knell was Obama himself.

The president noted that lawmakers may lack the "appetite" to take on immigration while many of them are up for re-election and while another big legislative issue — climate change — is already on their plate.

"I don't want us to do something just for the sake of politics that doesn't solve the problem," Obama told reporters Wednesday night aboard Air Force One.

Immigration reform was an issue Obama promised Latino groups that he would take up in his first year in office. But several hard realities — a tanked economy, a crowded agenda, election-year politics and lack of political will — led to so much foot-dragging in Congress that, ultimately, Obama decided to set the issue aside.
With that move, the president calculated that an immigration bill would not prove as costly to his party two years from now, when he seeks re-election, than it would today, even though some immigration reformers warned that a delay could so discourage Democratic-leaning Latino voters that they would stay home from the polls in November.


I seriously doubt Obama will use his own election year to push this issue either, it could be devastating with the majority of Americans in favor of bills such as Arizona's which are the strictest in the country in enforcing the law regarding illegal immigration.

Obama's Quincy, Illinois Speech; Riot Police Called

Hot Air provides the video on their site showing Obama thinks it is his place to say "Now, what we’re doing -- I want to be clear, we’re not trying to push financial reform because we begrudge success that's fairly earned. I mean, I do think at a certain point you’ve made enough money."

He should have stuck with the TelePrompter. The President doesn’t get to decide when people have “made enough money.” In fact, as the radio host notes, that’s a statist point of view. Furthermore, the responsibility of an entrepreneur isn’t to “grow our economy,” core or otherwise. It’s to grow his own economy. In a properly regulated capitalist system, the natural tension of self-interests create economic growth through innovation and efficient use of capital and resources.


Next up, the entertainment factor about Obama's Quincy appearance.... those dangerous Tea Party supporters that came out to protest, so dangerous in fact that riot police had to be on hand.

Brewer's Poll Numbers Rise After Signing AZ Immigration Bill

Rasmussen surveyed likely voters in Arizona and found a rise in popularity for Arizona Governor Jan Brewer after she signed the new immigration law which makes it a state crime (it is already a federal crime) to be in Arizona illegally.

A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of likely voters in the state shows that 56% now approve of the way Brewer is performing her role as governor. Two weeks ago, just 40% offered their approval.

The new figure includes 22% who Strongly Approve of the governor’s performance. That’s up from five percent (5%) before Brewer signed the law that authorizes local police to stop and verify the immigration status of anyone they suspect of being an illegal immigrant.

The bounce in the polls is also evident in new numbers on the November election. If Brewer is the Republican nominee, she would get 48% of the vote while her likely Democratic opponent, State Attorney General Terry Goddard, would attract 40%. Two weeks ago, it was Brewer 44% and Goddard 40%. Goddard is an outspoken opponent of the new law.

Some other interesting findings from Rasmussen:

The new survey results are consistent with findings conducted over many years. Three-out-of-four voters believe that the federal government is not doing enough to secure the nation’s borders. In fact, 56% believe that the policies of the federal government encourage illegal immigration. Among voters who are angry about immigration, 83% are angry at the federal government. Only 12% direct their anger at the immigrants

The biggest point of disconnect between voters and the conventional wisdom in Washington, D.C. has to do with priorities. Almost always in Washington, the debate begins with a focus on how to address the status of illegal immigrants. To voters, that is a secondary concern. Controlling the borders is the top concern. That hasn’t changes since the 2006 immigration legislation collapsed when the U.S. Senate surrendered to public opinion. During that debate, a New York Times/CBS poll found that 69% believed illegal immigrants should be prosecuted and deported.

Other surveys have found that 73% of voters want cops to check the immigration status of all offenders during traffic stops. Sixty-seven percent (67%) also say that if law enforcement officers know of places where immigrants gather to find work, they should sometimes conduct surprise raids to identify and deport those who are here illegally.

Sixty-eight percent (68%) of voters nationwide say that those who knowingly hire illegal immigrants should be punished. By a 48% to 36% margin, voters say the same about landlords who rent to illegal immigrants. Additionally, 77% of voters nationwide oppose drivers’ licenses for undocumented immigrants. That topic tripped up Hillary Clinton in a debate during the race for the Democratic presidential nomination.



So, when we see headlines stating "Justice Department considers suing Arizona to block immigration law,", you have to wonder how a president voted in to represent the people of America, can justify totally ignoring those very same people once again.

Note:

But Kris Kobach, who helped draft the legislation, said similar preemption arguments failed when Arizona passed a 2007 law that sanctioned employers for knowingly hiring illegal immigrants. "They tried this on for size already, and it failed," said Kobach, a senior Justice Department official in the George W. Bush administration who is now a constitutional law professor at the University of Missouri at Kansas City.


Bring it on, especially before November's elections and force Democrats to publicly make a stand that puts them at odds with 60+ percent of the nation.

Don't Let The Door Hit You In The Ass On Your Way Out

Headline reads "Illegal immigrants plan to leave over Ariz. law."

Many day laborers like Diaz say they will leave Arizona because of the law, which also makes it a crime to be in the U.S. illegally and directs police to question people about their immigration status if there is reason to suspect they are illegal immigrants.

Supporters of the law hope it creates jobs for thousands of Americans.

"We want to drive day labor away," says Republican Rep. John Kavanagh, one of the law's sponsors.

An estimated 100,000 illegal immigrants have left Arizona in the past two years as it cracked down on illegal immigration and its economy was especially hard hit by the Great Recession. A Department of Homeland Security report on illegal immigrants estimates Arizona's illegal immigrant population peaked in 2008 at 560,000, and a year later dipped to 460,000.

The law's supporters hope the departure of illegal immigrants will help dismantle part of the underground economy here and create jobs for thousands of legal residents in a state with a 9.6 percent unemployment rate.


Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, isn't that the whole point?

I have to say I absolutely love this line:

A little redundant don't you think? The words to be in the U.S. illegally automatically shows it is a crime and everyone is having a temper tantrum that Arizona acknowledges that and made it state law just as it is already Federal law?

Ooooooooooooooooooooookay, sure, here is some rights for you, the same rights all criminals have... they are called the Miranda Rights.

You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed to you. Do you understand these rights as they have been read to you?


Now how about our rights, Americans and immigrants who did their due diligence and came to America legally, pay taxes, work to support their families, what about our rights to protect our borders?

What about our right to put criminals, those who broke our laws and committed crimes, in jail or deport them back to their own country?

What about our right, as a state, to pass a law which upholds the federal law?

What about our rights?

In what world do criminals that break the law have more rights than citizens who have broke none?

Kris Koback, someone who helped draft the statute, addresses the misrepresentations being made by politicians, critics and even the media about Arizona's new law.

1. ...since 1940, it has been a federal crime for aliens to fail to keep such registration documents with them. The Arizona law simply adds a state penalty to what was already a federal crime. Moreover, as anyone who has traveled abroad knows, other nations have similar documentation requirements.

2. ..Arizona law actually reduces the likelihood of race-based harassment by compelling police officers to contact the federal government as soon as is practicable when they suspect a person is an illegal alien, as opposed to letting them make arrests on their own assessment.

3. ...While it is true that Washington holds primary authority in immigration, the Supreme Court since 1976 has recognized that states may enact laws to discourage illegal immigration without being pre-empted by federal law. As long as Congress hasn’t expressly forbidden the state law in question, the statute doesn’t conflict with federal law and Congress has not displaced all state laws from the field, it is permitted. That’s why Arizona’s 2007 law making it illegal to knowingly employ unauthorized aliens was sustained by the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Interestingly enough, Obama and even Bill Clinton will speak out against Arizona's new law at the same as they acknowledge the need and reasons behind it.

Ruffini: 50 to 70 Seats For GOP? Gallup: Enthusiasm For GOP 20 Points More Than Dems.

A few pieces caught my eye this morning.. starting with Gallup who finds the enthusiasm gap favoring Republicans with a 20 point lead.

Although U.S. registered voters are closely divided in their 2010 congressional election preferences, those who say they are "very enthusiastic about voting" this year show a strong preference for the Republican Party.


Moving right along, Patrick Ruffini, who was one of the very few (along with our very own Paul Marston) who projected early on that Scott Brown had a chance to win the Mass. Senate seat, and Ruffini also went out on a limb and predicted Rubio had a shot against Crist (Rubio now leads) , wonders if the GOP could pick up anywhere from 50 to 70 House seats in 2010, and while his projections are "gut" he says, he provides a list of sources to which he bases his gut on.

Then head over and see why, in the words of William Galston, "all-but-certain Democratic losses," could turn into a "rout of historic proportions," for the Democrats.

George Will: 'Goverment Is Refusing To Fulfill its responsibility to control the nation's borders'

Linkfest in George Will's column showing why Arizona and other states have the right and obligation to protect their states from illegal immigration and the crime associated with it, given the government refusal to fulfill it's obligation to protect our country by securing our borders.

It is passing strange for federal officials, including the president, to accuse Arizona of irresponsibility while the federal government is refusing to fulfill its responsibility to control the nation's borders. Such control is an essential attribute of national sovereignty. America is the only developed nation that has a 2,000-mile border with a developing nation, and the government's refusal to control that border is why there are an estimated 460,000 illegal immigrants in Arizona and why the nation, sensibly insisting on first things first, resists "comprehensive" immigration reform.

Arizona's law makes what is already a federal offense -- being in the country illegally -- a state offense. Some critics seem not to understand Arizona's right to assert concurrent jurisdiction. The Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund attacks Gov. Jan Brewer's character and motives, saying she "caved to the radical fringe." This poses a semantic puzzle: Can the large majority of Arizonans who support the law be a "fringe" of their state?

Despite the rhetoric coming from Harry Reid (to attempt to save his political office), Democrats such as John Kerry, acknowledge that an immigration bill will not happen in the near future.

Face it, Democrats are already looking at massive losses in the House of Representatives in November 2010, this could potentially turn those massive losses into historically massive losses.

Republicans Financial Overhaul Plan

The Wall Street Journal produces the key elements to the Republican's financial overhaul proposal.

They list eight separate elements, so go read it all, below is a couple I found important:



2) FED: Would create a presidentially appointed director of supervision and regulation at the Federal Reserve, who would have to be confirmed by the Senate. The Republican proposal also has strict limits on the Fed’s ability to provide emergency lending, among other things.

7) GSEs: Creates a special inspector general within the Treasury to investigate and report to Congress on the conservatorships of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The Republican plan would create federal funding limits and mandatory portfolio reductions for the companies. It will also restrict the amount of money the government can advance the firms.


Helping to control the governments overuse of bailouts should be in there and I am glad it is, although until we see the whole proposal we can't be sure if that would only apply to those specific companies or others as well.

A question to ponder while browsing around would be whether Democrats, who are described by Senator Chuck Grassley as people who claim to want "bipartisanship" yet define bipartisanship as "one Republican and 59 Democrats," will consider the Republican proposal, tweak their own to include the GOP's ideas or if Harry Reid will continue to further alienate all Republicans with his tactics and bullying.

Even Reid admits those tactics are getting him "nowhere", yet he continues.

Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome..... delusional.

The Comedy Central website has created an anti-semitically named game there called "I.S.R.A.E.L. Attacks," in which a murderous robot called Israel is called upon to wipe out every cartoon character on the show.
Caving into Islam, promoting Anti-Semitism, what is next?  Promoting cartoons from Hamas as good children's shows?

I am beginning to believe that there is an organized effort in the medi and government to not only delegitimatize Israel, but to demonize Jews.  Thus the rise in Anti-Semitic incidences on American Universities, in the media, and by government officials.

Digging Into The Numbers- Even Dems Favor AZ New Immigration Law

Despite the hype and rhetoric coming from the Obama administration and Democratic politicians publicly as well as certain media outlets, nationally the majority (60%) favor the new law signed by Arizona's Governor which cracks down on the serious illegal immigration problem and crimes associated with it.

Digging into the actual numbers though may surprise many because the "news" avoids mention of the breakdown demographically, so let us take a look, shall we?

Seventy-seven percent (77%) of Republicans support the law along with 62% of voters not affiliated with either major party. Democratic voters are evenly divided on the measure.


Even Democrats, nationally, are divided.... anyone seeing the MSM reporting that little newsflash?

Locally, 70 percent of Arizona residents favor the new tougher, stricter law and again, surprise!!!!!!!! 51 percent of Democrats agree.

Eighty-four percent (84%) of Arizona Republicans and 69% of voters not affiliated with either major party in the state favor the new get-tough legislation. Democrats are more closely divided: 51% like the new law, but 43% oppose it.


While MSNBC may have just discovered that it is a "Crime to be Illegal Immigrant", most Americans already knew this.

For those a little slow on the uptake, here is the definition of "crime"

1. an action or an instance of negligence that is deemed injurious to the public welfare or morals or to the interests of the state and that is legally prohibited.

2. criminal activity and those engaged in it

Crossing into America illegally is a crime.

Is that clear enough? Those committing crimes are criminals. Criminals get detained or arrested and/or, in this case, deported.

No one is suggesting that immigrants are not a welcome part of our society, they are. We are a nation made up of immigrants and each is welcomed with opened arms to become part of our society legally.

Illegal immigrants, those that come here illegally, are criminals and that difference, that separation seems to be ignored and needs to be highlighted at every given opportunity.

I live in Arizona and I stand up for Governor Brewer and I applaud her courage in acting to protect this state when the government has failed to do so by enforcing the law.

Consider me one of the 70 percent that agrees with this new law.

Obama Admin Report :Obamacare 'will increase national health care spending by $311 billion from 2010-2019 '

Economic experts from President Obama's own Health and Human Services Department have released a devastating report noting that Obamacare "will increase national health care spending by $311 billion from 2010-2019," according to the Associated Press. Even worse, "Medicare cuts may be unrealistic and unsustainable, driving about 15 percent of hospitals into the red and 'possibly jeopardizing access' to care for seniors." In other words, to recall the words of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., Congress had to pass the bill before we could begin discovering what's in it. And what we are finding is frequently the opposite of what Obama, Pelosi and the rest of the Democratic advocates told us.

National Majority Favors Arizona's New Immigration Law

Rasmussen:

Arizona Governor Jan Brewer last week signed a new law into effect that authorizes local police to stop and verify the immigration status of anyone they suspect of being an illegal immigrant. A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey finds that 60% of voters nationwide favor such a law, while 31% are opposed.


If the government won't enforce the laws, then state must to protect themselves... it is good to see the majority of the country agrees.

With that said, a smaller majority is also "somewhat" worried about violating citizens civil rights, then again, if those citizens are here legally, there is no real problem, show ID and off you go.

Once again, Barack Obama goes against the majority here when he criticizes Arizona for taking action to protect and enforce the law.

Voter support for empowering local police comes at a time when most voters (56%) believe it is unlikely Congress will take action to gain control of the border. Only 31% say Congress is even somewhat likely to take such an action. That figure includes just 10% who believe Congress is Very Likely to act.

President Obama has denounced the Arizona law, and he and other critics of the measure see it as an incentive to push new national immigration reform legislation to supersede it.

Not surprisingly, support for the law authorizing local police to arrest illegal immigrants is a bit higher in Arizona than it is nationwide. As one of the states most impacted by illegal immigration, 70% of voters statewide favor the new law.

Every time the media headlines Sarah Palin's name, the blogosphere goes nuts, the ink dedicated to this woman is amazing.

New York Magazine has a piece out about Sarah Palin and I think about her first appearance with John McCain, the reactions from both the left and the right and I look at the facts of the NY Mag piece and simply have to shake my head in wonder about the genius of what she is accomplishing and how it was made possible, not only by her fans but more so by her critics, the Palin-Haters.

Emphasis mine and the reason I call it the genius of Sarah Palin.

She is a ratings magnet. Her book sold more than 2.2 million copies already and is still selling strong.

When Palin came onto the national stage she was attacked, viciously, from the left. They attacked her family, they questioned the parentage of her child, they went after her daughters, her husband and Sarah herself.

Between then and now, her critics, her attackers, her haters, have made her a household name and instead of cringing, hiding or crying out at the unfairness of being attacked as she was and is, she capitalized on the left, she used them as stepping stones and the more ink they dedicated to her, the higher they lifted her up and the more money they made her.

It isn't the amount of money she is accruing or the amount of name recognition she is obtaining that makes her a genius, it is her use of those that would tear her down, turning the tables on them and standing on their shoulders to lift her up even higher.

-95 percent of homicide warrants in Los Angeles are issued for illegal aliens. Additionally, 67 percent of the 17,000 outstanding fugitive felony warrants in that city are issued for illegal aliens.

First Annual Everybody Draw Mohammad Day

Quick background:

Comedy Central bleeped out all references to the Prophet Muhammad in Wednesday night's episode of the animated show "South Park."

The episode was a continuation of last week's episode which depicted the Prophet Muhammad in a bear suit.

A radical Muslim website threatened the show's creators following that episode.

Comedy Central confirmed to FoxNews.com that it had censored the show, and that the episode was not available on its website.

In addition to bleeping the words "Prophet Muhammad," the show also covered the character with a large block labeled "Censored."


Now the lines have been drawn and according to Hot Air,"Someone at Dan Savage’s blog" decided to rise to the challenge and takes issue to threats being made and bowed down to by Comedy Central and are creating the first annual "Draw Mohammad Day".

Reason Magazine picked up on it.

Arizona Governor Signs Immigration Bill

"We cannot sacrifice our safety to the murderous greed of drug cartels," Brewer said. "We cannot stand idly by as drophouses, kidnappings and violence compromise our quality of life."--- Jan Brewer

Jan Brewer, Arizona's Governor, signed into law one of the toughest immigration bills already passed through the Arizona House and Senate.

Her reasoning was simple and is being overlooked by critics.

"Respect for the rule of law means respect for every law," said Brewer, a Republican. "People across America are watching Arizona.

"We in Arizona have been more than patient waiting for Washington to act," Brewer added. "But decades of inaction and misguided policy have created a dangerous and unacceptable situation."


She is right.. the government's refusal to punish places that offer sanctuary to those here illegally, their refusal to enforce the laws already on the books dealing with people who have broken the law and entered our country illegally and their refusal to secure our borders, has forced states to address the problem themselves.

Before allowing the media and the left to rouse your sympathies by screaming "racial profiling" as loud as they can, try reading the 17 page bill, or fact sheet.

Requires officials and agencies of the state and political subdivisions to fully comply with and assist in the enforcement of federal immigration laws and gives county attorneys subpoena power in certain investigations of employers. Establishes crimes involving trespassing by illegal aliens, stopping to hire or soliciting work under specified circumstances, and transporting, harboring or concealing unlawful aliens, and their respective penalties.


This has nothing to do with immigrants here legally, work hard and only wish to raise their families and live in America.

This is about people who are willing to break the very first law when entering our country and doing so illegally, who must continue to break law in order to stay here illegally.. ..criminals.

Crime is ever present, but new numbers give a glimpse into how much is linked to illegal immigrants.

According to statistics obtained by CBS 5 News, 19 percent of the inmates in Maricopa County Jail are suspected illegal immigrants being held on an immigration or U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement hold.

In Pima County, the number of inmates suspected of being illegal immigrants is around 10 percent.

In Pinal County, the number of inmates suspected of being illegal immigrants is around 30 percent.


According to CBS, Seventy-one law enforcement agencies around the country already turn immigrants over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement when arrested for a serious crime.

More than 800 law enforcement agents swooped down on a massive human smuggling ring in Arizona early Thursday morning, delivering a "stunning blow" to a criminal network that helped shuttled illegal immigrants all around the country.

More than 800 law enforcement agents swooped down on a massive human smuggling ring in Arizona early Thursday morning, delivering a "stunning blow" to a criminal network that helped shuttled illegal immigrants all around the country.

Thursday's strike is the largest coordinated action ever led by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which partnered with eight other federal, state and local agencies to arrest 47 suspects in Phoenix, Tucson, Nogales and Rio Rico, Arizona.

"Alien smugglers are a scourge," ICE Assistant Secretary John Morton said. "They violate our borders ... [and] profit at our expense by knowingly breaking our laws, day in and day out. Today we turned the tables on the smugglers."

ICE agents targeted shuttle van services they believe have ferried thousands of illegal immigrants from southern Arizona to Phoenix, providing passengers fake $30 ride receipts and even coaching them on how to answer law enforcement agents if the buses were stopped at immigration checkpoints along the highway. From there the illegal immigrants were left at drop-houses or brought to shuttle services that offer rides to destinations all over the West Coast.


Amazingly enough, the answer from far left liberals, even politicians, is to simply ignore the crime of entering our country illegally and give criminals amnesty.

Last week, Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-IL) wrote a very angry op ed for the Huffington Post in which he assailed President Obama for everything from allowing federal agencies to lawfully deport criminal aliens, to not acting to stop the Arizona state legislature from passing a law which makes it a crime for illegal aliens to be present in Arizona.

In his rant, the Illinois Congressman even griped about the breakup of human smuggling networks, notorious for abusing and kidnapping their human freight.

Gutierrez said: “This week, we saw how destructive things are getting. The combination of a harsh piece of anti-immigrant legislation advancing in the Arizona legislature and a massive, well-publicized federal enforcement action against a broad human smuggling network has sent the unmistakable message to Arizona's one million immigrants and two million Hispanics: there is a target on your backs and authorities are coming after you.”


The answer is not amnesty as the Democrats keep insisting, the answer is not ignoring the crime as Gutierrez would like us to do and answer is not more laws created that will not be enforced.

The answer is to enforce the laws already on the books and secure the damn borders.

By the way.... Right Side News points out that Arizona is not the only state sick and tired of the governments inability to deal with criminals here illegally.

"Recently, Gov. Rick Perry, of Texas, sent a letter to U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano requesting that the federal government utilize Unmanned Aircraft Systems, also known as predator drones, for missions over the Texas-Mexico border. This would provide an additional surveillance element, supplying valuable information to local, state, and federallaw enforcement along the border. I fully expect to see Texas and other states follow Arizona in passing laws to protect their citizens, natural born and immigrants here legally, against illegal alien criminals.

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer: 'Americans Are Angry And Fearful'

Due to Americans being "angry and fearful" it will prevent them from "reasoned analysis," in the midterm elections.

This is how Hoyer is trying to spin large projected losses for Democrats in the midterm elections.

He explained that Americans are "angry and fearful" because of job losses and that's blinding them to the recovery on Wall Street and other areas of the economy. "Roosevelt said, 'We have nothing to fear but fear itself,' and what he meant by that is fear can prevent sort of reasoned analysis. The proposition that I think that I've made is that things are in fact improving and they are improving as a result of policies put in place in '09 and that we continue to pursue. If that occurs over the next five months, six months, I think that's going to change the perception of the public," says Hoyer.


The stimulus package did not produce the jobs the Obama administration claimed they would and unemployment continued to drop. The bailouts did not "fix" the problems that caused the economic downturn. Obamacare, it is now being reported, is already costing jobs and will raise costs despite Obama and the Democrat's promises originally to the contrary.

Perhaps the lies Democrats have been telling have "angered" people, perhaps the fear is that Democrats and Obama will continue to shove their agenda down the throats of Americans until they are stopped.

Hoyer can claim that is not reasoned thinking, but I "fear" it is his own reasoning that is off here.

Obamacare costing 2,500 workers at Sallie Mae their jobs

The AP reports that due to Obamacare and changes made to the federal student loan program within Obama's health care law, 2,500 workers at Sallie Mae will be losing their jobs.

A new law that cuts banks out of the federal student loan business is costing 2,500 workers at Sallie Mae their jobs.

The nation's largest student lender has told 1,200 staffers in service centers in Killeen, Texas, and Panama City, Fla., they will lose their jobs by year-end. The remaining cuts will follow in 2011, resulting in nearly a third of the company's total work force of 8,000 losing their jobs.

The cuts result from changes made to the federal student loan program as part of the health care reform signed by President Obama last month.

Hot Air points to yet another report from the CBO and the JCT, which shows that over 4 million more will suffer from fines accrued from Obamacare.

While it is true that the Republican Party slowly lost its way after 1994 by becoming Democrat lite, this is a center-right country and not just a right wing one. As you can see, there are only 226 seats in all of the red states and purple states put together. Since there are Democrat pockets even in the red states, let alone in the purple ones, there is no way that the Republicans can win all 226 seats. Even if they could, that gives them control by a 226 to 209 margin. However, there are Republican pockets in the blue states but electing a "true blue" conservative is hard to do there. As the Democrats found out, the only way to get a sizable majority is to get some seats in the red states and those are not going to be "true blue" liberals or they cannot get elected. The point is that neither party can govern from the left or the right because they need folks from the center to have a majority.

Since the Republicans have been reduced to nothing but the heavily red pockets, guess where the extra seats are going to come from? To illustrate this political fact of life, here is a table showing where the seats will come from in order of the size of the gain for the Republicans using our Vulnerable Democrats by State ratings.

Now you can see the problem because as the Republicans capture more and more seats, the number coming from purple and blue states goes up rapidly. The foot totals on the red states says that only 20 of the 40 needed to gain control of the House are going to come from there and they will not supply the last four unless the Republicans gain more than 80 seats. By the time you get to gaining 40 seats, the blue states are already supplying as many seats as the red states. While different analysts would produce somewhat different results, the proportions coming from the three groups would be pretty much the same as shown here.

The bottom line is that this business of no RINO's allowed needs to stop. If you want seats in those blue states then you are going to get a Scott Brown type Republican. Since those seats are absolutely necessary for Republican control, learn to live with moderate Republicans. Just remember that they are better than any Democrat. Every last Republican in both houses voted against the final health care bill including the 59 House members from the blue states. How many of the 150 Democrats from there voted no? Only a very small handful did and even then only those already in danger of losing this fall with the exception of Rep. Lynch from Massachusetts.
