House leaders struck a bipartisan deal on Wednesday night on a major spending measure that would provide money for the war in Iraq through the end of the Bush administration, establish a significant new education benefit for veterans, and meet Democratic demands for added unemployment benefits.
The bill, which could be voted on as early as Thursday in the House, would effectively bring to a close the two-year battle between President Bush and Congressional Democrats over war financing by allocating about $163 billion for combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan through early next year without imposing conditions like a withdrawal deadline.
White House officials took part in the talks that produced the agreement, suggesting the president was willing to sign the emerging legislation.
“I think we have an agreement,” said Representative Steny H. Hoyer of Maryland, the majority leader, who worked out the final deal in talks with Representative John A. Boehner of Ohio, the Republican leader, as well as senior members of both parties from the Appropriations and Ways and Means Committees.
This has equally made heads explode across the Internet today...a double whammy, so to speak, which has members of left plotting the ousting of what they call Bush Dog Democrats.
In other words, any Democrats that votes on the issues, using their judgment and according to the feelings and needs of their own particular constituency, instead of being robotic lapdogs and voting the way the far far left progressively liberal portions of their party want them to.
Oh they are not exactly happy with Nancy Pelosi either, or the whole Democratic majority in Congress.
Back to FISA, the far far farrrrrrrr left loons are pinning all their hopes on Barack Obama...the clowns actually think he can kill the bill by speaking out against it after months of negotiating and Hoyer and Pelosi already saying it is coming up for a vote.
Wanna bet Obama isn't answering his phone today and tomorrow?
After all, what are they going to do to him if he doesn't bow to their demands.... vote for John McCain?
Not a chance on that, so basically, they can plead with him, they can beg, they can threaten, but Obama knows as well as they do, no matter what he does or doesn't do...they will go pull that lever for Barack Obama in November, like the good little children they are.
