Typhoon Man-Yi has hit Japan and if it continues on it's current trajectory, it will hit the Fukushima area, which is already struggling to deal with massive radiation leaks, radioactive ground water and a whole host of issues, after the 2011 earthquake and Tsunami which devastated the nuclear plant.
Man- Yi has had reported gusts of 144 miles-an-hour and is moving Northwest. Reports indicated that hundreds of flights have already been cancelled as torrential rains and winds are causing warnings of floods, mudslides and high ocean waves. Central Japan Railway Co. temporarily suspended their bullet-train services as this monster typhoon barrels towards the nation's capital.
The major concern for the Fukushima plant now is that more contaminated water will seep into the groundwater.
Via New Zealand Herald :
It was on a direct course to hit southern parts of the main island Honshu on Monday morning, possibly around 9 am (midday NZ time) in Shizuoka prefecture, southwest of Tokyo, according to the agency.
The typhoon was then expected to head northeast towards the capital and its surrounding region by noon and cross the northeast including the Fukushima area.
