Three More Arrests Made In Boston Marathon Bombing Case

By Susan Duclos

Yahoo News, Washington Post and Boston Globe are reporting that three more people have been arrested in connection with the Boston Marathon bombing. Other news agencies have been reporting the same using their social media accounts, as shown over at Hot Air with the Twitter embeds.

Authorities have arrested three additional suspects in connection to the Boston Marathon bombings, the Boston Police Department confirmed to Yahoo News Tuesday.

A spokeswoman at the department directed all questions related to the suspects to the FBI, which has yet to disclose their identities.

NBC's Pete Williams reported that the suspects are friends of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev's from the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth. The three have been under FBI surveillance for 10 days, and are suspected of aiding Tsarnaev after he allegedly committed his crimes. Two have been in custody on immigration charges related to their student visas, while a third, a U.S. citizen, was arrested today.

From the Wapo link:

Two federal law enforcement officials, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss an ongoing inquiry, said the three disposed of material at a Boston area landfill at the request of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev following the bombings.

The Boston Police said Wednesday that they had arrested three suspects in connection with the bombing but did not identify them or provide further details.

Last week, federal investigators searched a landfill at New Bedford, Mass., after a tip that evidence had been left there.

The Tsarnaev brothers were at large for four days after the April 15 bombings, which killed three people and wounded more than 250. The elder brother was killed in a shootout with police in the early morning hours of April 19, and the younger brother was captured that evening. He faces charges that carry the death penalty.
This comes right on the heels of reports that Saudi Arabia had sent a "very specific" warning to the U.S. in 2012, about Boston Marathon bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev,  and plans of a terror attack in "a major U.S. city."
