Conservative activist and creator of Big Hollywood, Big Journalism, Big Government, BreitbartTV, author of Righteous Indignation, Andrew Breitbart, passed away after midnight this morning in Los Angeles.
Larry Solov published the Memoriam:
With a terrible feeling of pain and loss we announce the passing of Andrew Breitbart.
Andrew passed away unexpectedly from natural causes shortly after midnight this morning in Los Angeles.
We have lost a husband, a father, a son, a brother, a dear friend, a patriot and a happy warrior.
Andrew lived boldly, so that we more timid souls would dare to live freely and fully, and fight for the fragile liberty he showed us how to love.
Andrew recently wrote a new conclusion to his book, Righteous Indignation:
I love my job. I love fighting for what I believe in. I love having fun while doing it. I love reporting stories that the Complex refuses to report. I love fighting back, I love finding allies, and—famously—I enjoy making enemies.
Three years ago, I was mostly a behind-the-scenes guy who linked to stuff on a very popular website. I always wondered what it would be like to enter the public realm to fight for what I believe in. I’ve lost friends, perhaps dozens. But I’ve gained hundreds, thousands—who knows?—of allies. At the end of the day, I can look at myself in the mirror, and I sleep very well at night.
Andrew is at rest, yet the happy warrior lives on, in each of us.
[Update] Via Gateway Pundit- HATING BREITBART #CPAC12 TRAILER (video below)
Breitbart made a habit of retweeting the unbelievably unhinged tweets sent to him from far left liberals and Michelle Malkin assures us that even in death Breitbart is "exposing the hate-filled intolerance of the tolerance poseurs."
Malkin shows some disturbing examples of liberals rejoicing over Breitbarts death, just as Breitbart would have done himself.
Campaign 2012 shows some other examples liberals celebrating Breitbart's death.
Dave Lartigue @daveexmachina : Andrew Breitbart has died. Honestly, good riddance. He helped poison the country where I live and we are better off without him.
Lalo Alcaraz @laloalcaraz RT @Mfusion66: RIP Breitbart? Nah, too good to be true
vtred @vtred1 : Good riddance to Andrew Breitbart - a McCarthyite nutcase.
Gene Moore @gene_moore : So it begins... #Breitbart RT Good riddance, a truly dispecable person.
Sean Paul Kelley @seanpaulkelley Andrew Breitbart has died: bigjournalism.com/lsolov/2012/03… If so, good riddance.
So many more examples at the links above.
Almost every news site that allows comments are showing the same type of liberal anger and hatred, from Fox to CNN.
Breitbart once again gets the last laugh because even in death he is exposing the vitriolic nature of the far left liberals.
Jonah Goldberg, shown on Breitbart TV, describes Breitbart as "One Of The Most Fearless People I Ever Knew."
[Update] Sarah Palin, via Facebook, on the loss of Andrew Breitbart:
We are all stunned and saddened by the news of Andrew Breitbart’s passing. Andrew was a warrior who stood on the side of what was right. He defended what was right. He defended the defenseless.
It is so sad to consider his four young children who have lost their dad. All our prayers are with his family now. May God comfort his wife and children.
Many of us will have life-long memories of our work or encounters with Andrew. May we draw on those to help forward the cause of fighting for what is right. For me, just one of those memories was in Pella, Iowa, last year after the premier of “The Undefeated.” Andrew held court in the restaurant at the local hotel talking about his favorite topic: how “culture is upstream of politics” and how conservatives must be unafraid to fight the leftwing media, cultural, and political establishments. The loss of his voice in this fight will be deeply felt, but thankfully his work lives on at his “Bigs,” and thank God for his inspiration and leadership.
God bless you, Andrew. Rest in peace, friend. We will continue the fight.
- Sarah Palin
[Update] GOProud issued the following statement:
(Washington, D.C.) – This morning, it was announced that conservative media mogul Andrew Breitbart had passed away. In response Christopher R. Barron and Jimmy LaSalvia, Co-Founders of GOProud – an organization of gay and straight Americans seeking to promote freedom by supporting free markets, limited government, and a respect for individual rights –released the following joint statement:
“We are stunned and saddened at the passing of Andrew Breitbart – a real hero of the conservative movement. Andrew was an amazing friend and ally to this organization. When we faced some of our toughest days, it was Andrew who was willing to come to our aide and fight for us and for what was right. We wouldn’t be the organization we are today without the help of Andrew Breitbart.
“On a personal level, we want to express our deepest condolences to Andrew’s family and friends. They are in our thoughts and in our prayers.”
[Update] Monica Crowley writes a lovely piece:
Andrew Breitbart---visionary, warrior, pioneer, entrepreneur, patriot, friend, husband, father---passed away today. He was 43.
I deeply admired his fearlessness, his passion, his full embrace of life, his love for his kids and wife, and was so grateful for his friendship. He was a ball to be around: full of laughter, always smiling, always with a twinkle in his eye.
The conservative movement has lost one of its heroes, but the gutsy framework and go-get-'em attitude he inspired---as well as his unwavering desire to tell the truth---lives on, and we'll all carry it forward.
My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
Arianna Huffington, the editor-in-chief of The Huffington Post Media Group, also paid tribute:I was asked many times this morning for my thoughts on what Andrew meant to the political world, but all I can think of at the moment is what Andrew meant to me as a friend, starting from when we worked together -- his passion, his exuberance, his fearlessness. And above all, what I'm thinking of at the moment is his amazing wife Susie and their four beautiful young children. My love and thoughts are with them right now.
Our sympathies to his wife and four children.
RIP Andrew Breitbart.
