The Democrats are in full meltdown mode, panicking and making things so much worse for Barack Obama by doing so.
The Politico reports the South Carolina Democratic Chair, Carol Fowler, stated that Sarah Palin's "primary qualification seems to be that she hasn’t had an abortion.”
This was a reference to Sarah Palin's decision to have her fifth child after finding out the baby, Trig, had Down Syndrome.
Ignore the fact that Palin was a Mayor and is a current sitting Governor for a second and understand how desperation is driving Democratic strategy at this point and common sense and logic have flown completely out the window.
Another Politico piece reports that Fowlers GOP counterpart, Katon Dawson, is demanding an apology and says, "Carol Fowler’s statement is offensive, outrageous and — most importantly — dead wrong."
Fowler also believes that the massive jump in support for John McCain from women, shown in the recent ABC/Washington Post poll are all from "Republican women."
Lets top the meltdown off with what Nancy Pelosi is allowing on the House floor, video below of Representative Steve Cohen (D-TN) compares Barack Obama to Jesus and Governor Sarah Palin To Pontius Pilate.
With polls favoring McCain, women gravitating toward McCain/Palin, Independents defecting to McCain in droves, the Democrats have finally gone around the bend.
Even liberal Taylor Marsh is stating "I'm officially embarrassed."
No worries Taylor, I promise you, it is going to get much worse in the coming weeks and that embarrassment is nothing compared to what the far left is going to cause you.
[Update] ABC's Political Punch asks "What on earth is going on?"
They also ask if Palin has the Democrats completely rattled at this point.
In an update Political Punch points out the Obama campaign, via spokesman Nicholas Shapiro, distanced them from Fowler's remarks by issuing a statement saying, "She was not speaking for our campaign -– just as John McCain has said state parties don’t speak for him. But, obviously, this does not reflect our view."
Fowler later apologized for her comment and attempted to explain why she said it:
"I personally admire and respect the difficult choices that women make everyday, and I apologize to anyone who finds my comment offensive. I clumsily was making a point about people in South Carolina who may vote based on a single issue. Whether it’s the environment, the economy, the war or a woman’s right to choose, there are people who will cast their vote based on a single issue. That was the only point I was attempting to make."
One word comes to mind here.....IMPLOSION.
[Update] McCain campaign conference call with reporters, via TIME, shows that Senator Lindsey Graham says Democrats are in a meltdown, stating, "Our Democratic colleagues and opponents are in a meltdown mode over Gov. Palin. If this were done the other way, it would be a firestorm of national proportions."
Also on the call was Representative Marsha Blackburn who says Fowler's comments are part of "a pattern that has come into play" from the Obama campaign and surrogates to "diminished [Palin's] accomplishments and demean the work she has done."
Blackburn continues on to say, "American women "are offended that the [Democratic] party ... is showing such a disrespect for all women."
