The comparison between Tina Fey, former cast member and writer for Saturday Night Live (SNL) and Alaska Governor and GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, has been made by many. There is a "likely" chance SNL will used Fey to play Palin on the show
The decision has not been made official with an announcement but the AP says a source close to the NBC's SNL show has discussed the ongoing talks.
Lorne Michaels, who is the executive producer of SNL stated in an interview "The whole world cast her in that role," referring to Fey playing Palin on the show.
The final decision went down to the last minute, apparently. "SNL" premieres Saturday evening with Michael Phelps as host. An appearance had been planned by Sen. Barack Obama, but his campaign said early Saturday that the Democratic nominee for president was canceling.
There is no word on whether Fey would continue to play the part long term, but many expect to see her on tonight's show.
