We're happy to announce live coverage of the first U.S. presidential debate this Friday Sept. 26, 2008 at 9 p.m. EST. We've teamed up with a citizen journalist to offer play-by-play commentary, insight, opinion and debate. Join us and share your thoughts!
Digital Journal -- On Friday Sept. 26, John McCain and Barack Obama will take to the stage at the University of Mississippi in the first presidential debate. The world will likely tune-in to the event in droves, wondering how candidates handle hot issues without a teleprompter.
The debate will focus on foreign policy and national security issues. Jim Lehrer of PBS’s The NewsHour will moderate and the format will have each candidate receiving two minutes to respond to a question, followed by an open discussion for another five minutes.
DigitalJournal.com Editor-in-Chief, Chris Hogg, will cover the event live along with DigitalJournal.com Citizen Journalist Susan Duclos. Hogg and Duclos will offer a play-by-play commentary of the debate, along with insight into key issues, reaction to the candidates' stances and a debate as to who handled themselves best.
In a live blog, Duclos and Hogg will deliver up-to-the-second coverage of the debate, and we invite everyone to take part. On Friday Sept. 26, at 9 p.m. EST, we invite all readers, bloggers, citizen journalists and anyone with even a passing interest in politics to take part in the event. The live blog will be moderated by DigitalJournal.com, so you can submit your comments, feedback and opinion in-line with debate coverage. Share your thoughts on Obama and McCain, or express your opinion on the United States and its future foreign policy and national security issues under each leader.
