The New York Times editorial pages comes out with a piece explaining why Nancy Pelosi should not become the Democratic House minority leader, seemingly buying into the argument that the midterms and the massive defeats across the country for Democrats wasn't because of an overreaching agenda or a completely partisan rubber stamping of the Obama agenda, but it was the failure to message properly that led to Democrat's unpopularity.Ms. Pelosi announced on Friday that she would seek the post of House minority leader. That job is not a good match for her abilities in maneuvering legislation and trading votes, since Democrats will no longer be passing bills in the House. What they need is what Ms. Pelosi has been unable to provide: a clear and convincing voice to help Americans understand that Democratic policies are not bankrupting the country, advancing socialism or destroying freedom.
They just don't get it, they didn't understand the message that America sent.
Democrats have controlled the House of Representatives and the Senate for four years and controlled the White House for two and 63.8 percent of the country, on election day, felt the country is going in the wrong direction.
Exit polls on November 2, 2010 confirmed those numbers.
It wasn't a communication problem it was an progressively liberal agenda problem and Pelosi proved to be quite adept at getting Democrats to vote with the party and to ignore the opposition of the majority of Americans along the way, costing then a turnover of seats in the House than hasn't been seen in decades.
[Update] Draft of a letter defeated politicians are sending to Pelosi asking her to step aside if they want a chance to regain any of what they lost has been obtained by Fox News.
It is impossible not to judge the results of November 2nd as anything but a profound loss. We want to recover. Recovery of our majority in the House necessitates new leadership at the top of our party. We believe that you can and will play an extraordinary role in our party, and it is extremely unfortunate that Republicans have taken away your ability to lead as effectively as you are able. Nonetheless, one mark of a strong leader is the ability to discern when it is time to pass the baton. As defeated members, whose party needs to rebuild, we are counting on you to show the strength of your leadership in this dark hour. We ask that you step aside as leader of our party in the House.
No idea who or how many will sign, but I implore Pelosi... IGNORE THEM, run, win and continue to show America how you have learned nothing from the defeat and will continue to push the most liberal agenda if your party is handed the House again.
