The White House readout of the meeting said Obama wants to see passage of the DREAM Act during the lame-duck session.
Contact information, names, phone numbers and web forms for every Democratic Senator up for reelection in 2012 as well as for Barack Obama and the White House, is listed at the end of the post.
The Politico is reporting that Barack Obama is meeting with proponents of the DREAM Act, Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.), Rep. Nydia Velazquez (D-N.Y.) and Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.), to discuss moving it forward during the lame duck session (the time between the election and when newly elected members of Congress take their seats).
They want to get the outgoing congressional members to pass legislation in this time even after Americans made it clear they were ready for things to be done differently in Washington by handing control of the House of Representatives over to the GOP.
Voters deliberately made it clear on November 2, 2010 that they want congress to work for them not rubber stamp the Obama agenda.
Harry Reid has already stated, more than once, before and after his election that he was going to bring DREAM Act up again during the lame duck session.
Until the newly elected GOP takes control early next year, Pelosi and Democrats still have enough votes to pass this along a strict party line vote through the House of Representatives.
Which leaves the Senate where Republicans have managed to block the DREAM Act before but there is no guarantee that they will do so again.
Michelle Malkin helpfully provides the names and contact information for Senate members. (Scroll to the bottom of her earlier post from the last time Reid tried to sneak this through and failed)
No extremely controversial bills should be passed during the lame duck session, Democrats should not be trying to push through the remainder of their agenda before the new House members and newly elected Senators take their seats in January.
They are attempting to push through bills like this after such a massive "refudiation" (ok couldn't resist using Sarah Palin's New Oxford American Dictionary word of the year) from the public against Democrats and their party line partisan votes, many of which went against the opposition of the majority of Americans.
Reminder:
Polls, such as the Quinnipiac University poll, Sept. 2010, shows the majority of Americans believe immigration reform should focus on stricter enforcement over amnesty. The poll, released today, asked 1,905 registered voters if immigration reform should focus on "stricter enforcement of laws against illegal immigration" or "integrating illegal immigrants into American society" and 68% of respondents favored enforcement. Only 24% favored the amnesty option. In a breakdown of party affiliation, Republicans, Democrats, and Independents all favored enforcement over amnesty.
That September poll confirms an earlier CNN poll which found the majority of Americans, 66 percent, said the "U.S. should not make it easier for illegal immigrants to become citizens, with 33 percent disagreeing."
21 Democrats in the Senate, 2 Independents that caucus with Democrats who were not up for reelection in 2010, will be up for reelection in 2012 and the American public has already shown they remember, they are taking down names and they will replace those that go against the majority of American's wishes.
Time to let those Democratic Senators know we are watching, closely.

Barack Obama is also up for reelection in 2012 and if he allows Senate and House Democrats to slam the DREAM Act through during the lame duck session, well perhaps letting him know we are watching and will remember in 2012 is in order as well.
