This "thing" [Stiles] video taped himself assaulting the 3 yr old child which led to a nationwide manhunt, three weeks ago.
The videotape, found in a Nevada town, Pahrump, last month, had prompted an equally intense search for the young girl who was assaulted in that video. Police with little to go on had encouraged news organizations to broadcast the haunting image of the 3-year-old. When the now-7-year-old was found on Sept. 28, authorities shifted their resources to finding Stiles.
It started when the police, having no leads, made the decision to release the tape of the 37 yr old Stiles assaulting this child, which led to tips coming in to help the police identify Stiles and the man hunt began.
One of those tips came from Stiles' e-girlfriend who contacted her lawyer so that she wouldn't just be another tip but could identify Stiles for the police.
Stiles had a warrant out for his arrest for allegedly groping a a 6-year-old girl in 2003. Police were also looking into an allegation that he had sexually assaulted a young girl in 2001.
Stiles once worked as an animal trainer, wrangling tigers for Siegfried and Roy. Described as a survivalist, his capture was surprisingly tame, police said. (Source)
