This time it is ABC's The Blotter and a leaked story about our "covert" actions concerning Iran.
The CIA has received secret presidential approval to mount a covert "black" operation to destabilize the Iranian government, current and former officials in the intelligence community tell the Blotter on ABCNews.com.
The sources, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the subject, say President Bush has signed a "nonlethal presidential finding" that puts into motion a CIA plan that reportedly includes a coordinated campaign of propaganda, disinformation and manipulation of Iran's currency and international financial transactions.
The whole time I was reading this story, I kept thinking: Well it isn't "covert" anymore and when I reached the end and started reading some of the comments, I understood, I was not the only one thinking that.
Looks like ABC has managed to piss off their readers and they are ripping into ABC for it in the comment sections.
Here are a few choice comments:
If it was a secret, it isn't any longer. I will turn off ABC News and never watch again.
I consider ABC News Traders to the United States

You should be ashamed of yourselves for
broadcasting the report on the CIA
covert action against IRAN. The key
word here is SECRET. The report should
be considered traitorous.

Why, if it is covert, are you airing it and telling the Iranians what we are doing? Do you want more war and more killings of Americans? Let them do their job's and keep your mouths shut.

Do you people believe in some things being important to the security of the United States of America? Do you even care that some of your reporting is putting our troops our citizens in foreign countries and even our way of life in danger? YOu can take care of things you don't like without telling the whole world. Why don't you help our country stay alive.

Brian Ross:
Seems you & the media will go to any extreme to show you bias agains the Bush Administration. Revealing classified operations is consorting with the enemy. I hope you can live with your tresonous actions!!!!!!

I think it is totally irresponsible for ABC News to air such a story. Keep your big mouths shut for once. You don't report news, you are trying to create it. I won't watch ABC News again!

Hey, way to go Brian Ross and ABC News. Iran already suspected we were doing covert actions against them, now they KNOW for SURE!!
If this is a secret covert operation, why is ABC News blabing it to the world on national TV???!!! Are you folks THAT STUPID!!!
I'm glad the CIA is doing their job! Now if we could get the mainstream news to keep your mouth shut, they might actually be able to succeed and keep the Islamic mad men at bay.
I hope the gov't prosecutes you dummies for 'spelling the beans'.

On tonight's lead story, do you know the meaning of covert? What you did is shameful. Whose side are you on? You have let your hate for George Bush blind you to what's good for the country. You seemed to have developed a policy of "your right to know supersedes your right to exist" and that is stupid. I will not watch Charlie Gibson again.
Never more sincere,

That last one pretty much covers it, the right to know somehow supercedes the right to exist.
These are just a small sampling of the FIRST comments posted, it goes on in this same vein and ABC has just put itself into the ranks of NYT in the, Freedom of Press whether it gets our men and women killed or not, category.
Good going ABC, what is your encore?
Gonna just walk right up to our soldiers and stab them in the back?
(NOTE: Whether this story is true or not, whether it was leaked deliberately or not and whether it will get any of our people killed or not, are all unknown, but this is a problem with our media nowadays, they care more for ratings than they do our lives.)
