Think Progress reports on a flyer from a church in Alabama where the event invitiation is for "Whites Only."
First and foremost, let me say that Rev. William Collier, who says that he is not racist but that "the white race is God’s chosen people," is an idiot.
Pure and simple, the man is a few cards short of a full deck.
With that said, although I disagree with the Reverend's philosophy, the reaction from the TP writer in a subsequent paragraph, is a serious pet peeve of mine:
Collier does not specify what sort of special “facilities” people of color may need, but the line harkens back to old southern segregation, when water fountains and bathrooms had “whites only” signs similar to Collier’s flyer.
What bothers me most about it is that we never see liberals, such as Think Progress writers, complain or make those comparisons to black only events, which by utilizing a search engine, are found frequently.
Black colleges, Black College Fund, Black Student Fund, Black History Month, and the NAACP, which stands for National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.
The examples go on and on and on....
Do we see a White Only College? White College Fund? White History Month? National Association for the Advancement of White People?
The point here is, why is discrimination against anyone, in any instance, alright to some people yet "harkens back to old southern segregation," when it is done by others?
Racism is racism no matter what color you are.
