41 percent of likely voters in battleground states The Hill polled think Barack Obama has "brought change for the worse" with 30 percent saying he has made no difference.
Worse yet his downward spiral is even more prominent with likely voters under the age of 34 with 63 percent saying he has not brought change to Washington or has made things worse.
The results for voters under 34 stand out, according to some observers.
"When you get in the young-voter range, it is problematic," said Kathleen Hall Jamieson, who directs the Annenberg Public Policy Center at the University of Pennsylvania. "This is the first, first time they've fallen in love, and their disillusionment is much, much greater."
This comes at a time when the poll averages from RCP show that 61.8 percent of the country believes it is on the wrong track, those averages come from NBC News/Wall St. Jrnl, Associated Press/GfK, Rasmussen Reports, Reuters/Ipsos and Bloomberg polls.
RCP averages on Obama's approval further show a plurality of Americans (49.6 percent), disapprove of Barack Obama's job performance as President.
This disappointment in Obama from his previous supporters and the buyer's remorse many have expressed is one of the major reasons the enthusiasm gap in polls and the generic congressional balloting has been so consistently in favor of Republicans this election cycle.
