But if I had a choice of the Republican Party's problems right now or the Democratic Party's problems, I think you could triple the Republican Party's problems and I'd still rather have their problems than the problems facing Democrats.

I am curious to know if Cook, given the last month's events, would still make that same statement.
I am also curious as to his predictions for November given the latest generic ballot polls.

In my opinion, the best use of polls is to watch for a pattern because patterns generally take more than one event to turn themselves around. Numbers may fluctuate, but patterns generally are a good indicator of where the path will lead in election years.
