AP, batting Zero: Bin Laden Video

Amazing.

One would think that after having to retract a rumor that they reported about 20 beheadings that never happened, the AP would be a little more careful. Then again, one would be wrong if they thought that.

BAGHDAD - Reports of 20 beheaded bodies found south of Baghdad earlier this week were untrue and may have been fabricated by insurgents aiming to incite violence and revenge killings, the U.S. military said Saturday.
The whole fiasco can be found at Pajamas Media.

Hat Tip to Take Our Country Back, we now see that the AP is once again showing that they are not a news service anymore, but just an extension of the Democratic party, giving them sound bites and talking points, that turn out to be false.

The first paragraph says it all:

CAIRO, Egypt - A new al-Qaida videotape posted Sunday on a militant Web site featured a short, undated clip of a weary-looking Osama bin Laden praising martyrdom.

Why do I say this paragraph says it all? WELLLLLLLLLLLL, maybe because the AP states right there that this is a "new al-Qaeda video", but it isn't new, in fact that little clip was part of an older video, shot in 2002.

There's only one problem. A senior Bush administration official informs this NewsBuster that:

"intelligence agencies have determined the video was previously aired as a portion of a longer show first on MBC TV (Middle East broadcast station) on April 17, 2002."

What's the result of the MSM's sloppy "air-first-verify-later" approach? The world’s most evil and despicable terrorists are given tons of free air time and print exposure.

Oooops? No, I do not think so, a journalists job is to VERIFY things before reporting them and that is something the AP simply doesn't do anymore in their rush to get the Democrats their sound bites and talking points, they are more than willing to sacrifice their own credibility to do so.

The Corner wonders aloud, that if Bin Laden was still alive, why not just issue a new video.

LGF also questions whether Bin Laden is alive.

Good question.

So far today alone, the NYT and the AP have proven, beyond a doubt that the latest Rasmussen poll is right on target.

The only ones that deny liberal bias in our MSM are the ones that do not care about the truth, they only care about their political agenda, the truth be damned.

The real belly laugh comes from Diane Sawyer saying that her poor feelings were hurt when a courtroom erupted in laughter after she commented that journalists told the truth and were fair, in answering the judges question:

Diane Sawyer: "You know, I wanted to sit on a jury once and I was taken off the jury. And the judge said to me, 'Can, you know, can you tell the truth and be fair?' And I said, 'That's what journalists do.' And everybody in the courtroom laughed. It was the most hurtful moment I think I've ever had."

Ummmmm, Ms. Sawyer? I have a bridge in Brooklyn for sale, you interested?

No one is THAT naive.

HEH.

(ADDITION) No one really knows whether Bin Laden is alive or dead, sick or well, but I have maintained and stand by my assertion that Bin Laden has been a figurehead and nothing more, he might give al-Qaeda funds, yes, he might have created what is al-Qaeda now, but he personally wasn't on a plane on 9/11, he doesn't personally set off bombs, he does nothing personally, others do... he is irrelevant to the fight against terror.

I say this because, to capture him, if we haven't already, or to kill him, if he is not already dead, would simply create a martyr in the extremists eyes. It would be a media coup, for Bush, yes, but it wouldn't end al-Qaeda, only killing the terrorists will end al-Qaeda.

It is those that are actually killing people, in Iraq and elsewhere that need immediate attention.
