A Christian group known as the Christian Defense Coalition is launching a new campaign against Barack Obama, titled, "Barack Obama: The Abortion President", where they have unveiled a photo of a black Uncle Sam saying, "I want YOU to pay for abortions"
The Christian Newswire has announced the unveiling of the new "Barack Obama: The Abortion President", which will be an attempt to "to educate American voters on the radical and extremist abortion policies of Senator Obama."

The campaign will focus on Barack Obama's stances on abortion and will focus towards taxpayers that would have to pay for those abortions.

The Christian Defense Coalition will have a news conference on Tuesday, July 8, at 11:00 A.M. to discuss this new campaign. They will also have large color posters and fliers.

The location of the news conference will be in front of Mr. Obama's senate office in the Hart Senate Office building on the Constitution Ave. NE entrance side.

This campaign is being launched at a time when Barack Obama has just made statements regarding abortion and mental health being cited as a reason and his specific policy stance on abortions.

Last week an interview with Barack Obama was published which caused a firestorm of ink to be dedicated to his answer to a question about his stance on late term aka partial birth abortions, where his answer was instantly criticized by pro-choice advocates.

His answer:

Obama: I absolutely can, so please don’t believe the emails. I have repeatedly said that I think it’s entirely appropriate for states to restrict or even prohibit late-term abortions as long as there is a strict, well-defined exception for the health of the mother. Now, I don’t think that “mental distress” qualifies as the health of the mother. I think it has to be a serious physical issue that arises in pregnancy, where there are real, significant problems to the mother carrying that child to term. Otherwise, as long as there is such a medical exception in place, I think we can prohibit late-term abortions.

The interview discussed other issues such as born alive babies and his prior votes for bill, but the specific criticisms came from the "mental distress" answer.

Immediately after that interview was published, Barack Obama sought to clarify his answers, explaining the nuances from his answer and providing context to show that his words were not a change in position for him, but an expansion on previous statements.

The Christian Newswire release announcing this new "Abortion President" campaign goes on to point out a Chicago Tribune report published last year where he was asked about his proposal for expanded access to health insurance and he answered that it would cover "reproductive health services."

When his campaigned was asked for clarification they asserted that his answer included "abortions", which is where the Christian Defense Coalition connects taxpayers monies to being spent on abortions if Obama has his way.

The Director of the Christian Defense Coalition, Reverand Patrick J. Mahoney, states, "Senator Obama talks about bringing hope, faith and change to American politics. We now see this is all just political 'doublespeak.' One of his top priorities as President would be protecting abortion rights and even expanding them. If elected, Senator Obama would become 'The Abortion President,' with the most extremist policies on abortion of any President in history.

"Senator Obama's views on abortion are so radical that he even wants American citizens to pay for them. This would include Catholics, Evangelicals and all people of faith. He would also expand abortion rights through his passionate support of The Freedom of Choice Act."

This will be the basis of the Christian Defense Coalition's "Abortion President" campaign going forward.

They will be having a press conference on Tuesday, July 8, at 11:00 A.M to discuss the new campaign and they will be unveiling more color posters and fliers.

[Update] In the interest of fairness, I just saw the Barack Obama campaign has issued a response, via spokesman Hari Sevugan:

Barack Obama understands that the best way to reduce the need for abortions is to reduce the number of unintended pregnancies. He is committed to commonsense solutions to achieve that objective and to changing the tone of the discourse which for too long has devolved into false and negative attacks such as this that do nothing to accomplish that goal.
