In his second audio message in three days focusing on the Palestinians, the al-Qaida leader said the only way to liberate Palestine is to fight the Arab regimes that are protecting Israel. And he called on Muslim militants in Egypt to help break the blockade of Gaza.
Bin Laden said Muslims should ignore the Islamic prohibition against raising arms against fellow Muslims, claiming it was legitimate to rise up against leaders who are not governing according to Islamic law. Those leaders, he said, came to power "either by a military coup or with backing from foreign forces."
"Those (Arab) kings and leaders sacrificed Palestine and Al-Aqsa to keep their crowns," bin Laden said, referring to Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem, one of Islam's holiest sites. "But we will not be relieved of this responsibility."
He refers to Arab leaders as "agents of the crusaders" and "wolves" and the Arab citizenry as "herds of sheep" and he says, "They have decided that peace with the Zionists is their strategic option, so damn their decision."
Basically he says that since Arab leaders do not implement sharia law, they are not true Muslims.
Bin Ladens desperation is pathetically obvious at this point. His group, al-Qaeada has been run out of Iraq forcefully, the one place that over a year ago he declared was the "central battlefield", he has been embarrassed and humiliated by Iraqis turning against al-Qaeada because they were sick and tired of them killing the very people they claimed to be fighting for...the Muslims.
So he has decided to use the one thing that he thinks will rally the militants to his cause once again and that is Israel.
Making Bin Laden's humiliation more complete is the fact that he has been reduced to these video and audio messages the last couple of years because he is too busy hiding like a coward under some rock.
His last dozen messages have largely been ineffective as this one will be.
