[Update] 9/22/07- Update on this about the ground operations obtaining nuclear material before the air strikes, found here.
I am not going to offer commentary until I can get some verification from some other source than CNN.
CNN reports that Israel conducted air strikes against Syria last week, possibly targeting weapons heading to Hizbullah.
Last week there was reports of Syria firing upon Israeli aircraft, but no one had reported anything further than that.
CNN does not name their "sources" but attribute the following comments to those unnamed sources that they claim come from the region of the U.S.:
Sources in the U.S. government and military confirmed to CNN's Barbara Starr that the airstrike did happen, and that they are happy to have Israel carry the message to both Syria and Iran that they can get in and out and strike when necessary.
Right now, diplomats are rushing around the region trying to ensure the incident does not escalate.
I am sure we will be hearing more of this and I will update this thread as more news comes out.
