On May 20, 1927, Charles Augustus Lindbergh became the first aviator to cross the Atlantic Ocean in a solo flight. After a harrowing 33.5 hour flight, the tiny single-engine “Spirit of St. Louis” touched ground at Le Bourget Airport outside Paris and the astonished Lindbergh was immediately overwhelmed by an hysterical ecstatic crowd, estimated at over 100,000 people. He had conquered the Atlantic alone and had become an instant celebrity of unprecedented renown. The following day, the President of France presented him with the prestigious Legion of Honor. On his return to the U.S. he was welcomed by President Calvin Coolidge who bestowed upon him the Distinguished Flying Cross.

His subsequent reception in New York City was the wildest in that city’s history. Mayor Jimmy Walker gave him a ticker tape parade, at which an estimated 4 million people lined the parade route just to get a glimpse of him. Shortly thereafter, the Guggenheim Fund sponsored him on a three month nationwide tour. Flying the “Spirit of St. Louis”, he touched down in 48 states, visited 92 cities, and gave 147 speeches promoting aviation. He followed this with a goodwill tour of Latin America where he met his future bride, the daughter of the American Ambassador, writer Anne Spencer Morrow. On March 21, 1929, President Coolidge presented him with the nation’s highest honor, the Congressional Medal of Honor.

In an incredibly short period of time, Charles Lindbergh had achieved a remarkable level of international adulation. He represented to the world a shining ray of hope and promise in an otherwise rather dismal decade. Standing on a pinnacle of fame, which in today’s world would rank him somewhere perhaps between a movie star and an Astronaut, with his all-American good looks, his boyish smile, and his (deceptive) air of modesty, Charles Lindbergh seemed the epitome of the perfect American Hero.

Wealthy, world-famous, respected and admired, “Lucky Lindy”, as he had now come to be known, eventually settled into his spacious New Jersey estate with his lovely new wife to begin what promised to be an idyllic life. On June 22, 1930, their son, Charles A. Lindbergh, Jr. was born and instantly became the most famous baby in the world. They had become the true First Family of America and an adoring public followed their every move. For the Lindbergh family the future appeared filled with unbounded hope and promise -- until March 1, 1932, when baby Charles was reported missing from his crib.

Needless to say, the “Lindbergh Kidnapping Case” quickly became the most notorious kidnapping case in history. Hundreds of international reporters descended on the small New Jersey town to feed the voracious appetite of an obsessed worldwide public, covering every nuance of the investigation, trial, and the subsequent sentencing and 1936 execution of the convicted perpetrator, the somber German-American Bruno Richard Hauptmann. There is no need here to reiterate the convoluted facts and innumerable controversies surrounding this historic case, except perhaps to take note that, in some sense, the case still remains open. Articles about the Lindbergh Kidnapping Case are still being printed, websites are still being opened, and books are still being written espousing endless theories and conjectures about the guilt or innocence of Hauptman -- some even implicating Lindbergh, himself, in the infamous affair.

What is, however, relevant to our purposes is that after the kidnapping and during the highly-publicized investigation that followed, much to his adoring public’s surprise, a darker side to Lucky Lindy’s personality began to emerge. Arrogant, authoritative, domineering, he began almost immediately to take over complete control of the investigation, issuing orders to the local and State Police, controlling the news conferences, even interfering with the Federal Agents assigned to the case.

This was the first chink to appear in Charles Lindbergh’s shining armor. The second would prove to be immensely more important and involve more than just the particular idiosyncrasies of his unique personality: his well-publicized, anti-war, pro-Fascist and -- though he would later try to deny it -- overtly anti-Semitic speeches, coupled with his high-profile involvement with the America First Committee.

The America First Committee was established in September of 1940 by Yale law student R. Douglas Stuart, Jr., along with several other students, including future President Gerald Ford. Supported by a group of prominent businessmen and a few well-known Senators such as Burton K. Wheeler and Gerald P. Nye, and some famous literary figures like the novelist Sinclair Lewis, poet E. E. Cummings and author Gore Vidal, the Committee launched a petition “aimed at enforcing the 1939 Neutrality Act and forcing President Franklin D. Roosevelt to keep his pledge to keep America out of the war. [Read more]

If you Think Obama is Arrogant, Then You Are Racist

Tonight on Fox News' Hannity and Colmes, Michael Brown, accused anyone who called Barack Obama arrogant of being racist, because apparantly only black men are called arrogant.

All over the internet the race card has been flashing. Every time Barack Obama is labeled with a negative trait the populous howls "racism." If you call him arrogant, you are a racist; if you call him elitist, you are a racist; if you call him pompous you are a racist. Basically, if you address any negative trait you think will make Barack Obama a less than effective president, you are a racist!

What the Hell is going on in America?!? Are anti-white groups going to try to drive whites into a guilt ridden submission to vote for Barack Obama? Do these people who accuse others of being racist at the drop of a hat really think that this constant barrage of accusations are going to continue to inspire fear? Oh they are mistaken!

The anger I feel when I hear people being called racist for absolutely no reason has pretty much reached the limit. What is it about the word racist that makes people sniveling little cowards? I do not put up with that word being thrown about so frivilously, nobody should.

Lets get one thing straight. I think Barack Obama is a fork-tongued, two faced, lying, manipulative, weasle. Go ahead call me a racist, cause frankly I am getting to the point of taking people to court over it for defamation of character. I do not think this because he is black, no matter what insecure babies with the victimization mentality want to say. I say this because of all the evidence to prove it, and that was not put together because he was black.

So to everyone in the anti-white community wisen up! Barack Obama has decided to run for President of the United States, the most scruitinized political position in the world. He is going to be put through the ringer, and that is just Greek Week folks. Every politician goes through it. The black community is proud of Barack Obama's accomplishments so far, as they should be, but now it is time to embrace reality. People are not going to pat him on the head and put him to the front of the line. Why is that expected? He is going to go through the same thing everyone else is.

Here you want to hear something that you can take as racist? There is no"affirmative action" when it comes to representing a whole country! There, now you can call me racist because I associated a black man with affirmative action. But let me give you all a hint, I am doing this because for some reason people are acting like he should not be challenge and just given a free pass because of his race. I do not support this type of attitude.

I want the anti-white portion of the black community to consider something. Would you rather be proud of a man who was elected to represent a nation because people beleive in him, or because he is black? You can not have it both ways. When I hear there are politicians seriously considering voting for Barack Obama simply because he is black and it is "historical," I get very upset.

Look I don't want a President who needs his bottom powdered or his diapers changed everytime he gets a bit upset. Barack is not a victim here, he is a politician, he is a big boy, so let him handle it without dragging race into it!

John McCain Campaign: Obama Has Played The Race Card

When the primaries were going strong, Barack Obama accused Bill Clinton of "playing the race card". In the general election campaign Obama has said the GOP will play the race card. The McCain campaign, like Clinton, says Obama is the one playing that card

Back in January of 2008, Bill Clinton was accusing Barack Obama of playing the race card by throwing accusations around saying that Clinton was using race as an issue.

At that time Clinton said, "This is almost like once you accuse someone of racism and bigotry, the facts become irrelevant."

This continued into April of 2008, where Clinton again defended his comments about South Carolina and the vote in that state being similar to the vote when Jesse Jackson was running, comments which the Obama campaign implied were "using the race card", and Bill Clinton said, "I think that they played the race card on me. And we now know, from memos from the campaign and everything that they planned to do it all along. I was stating a fact, and it's still a fact."

The primaries over and the general election is in full swing and once again reports come out that Barack Obama claims, to a Florida audience, that the GOP "would use his race to scare up votes for John McCain."

“We know what kind of campaign they’re going to run. They’re going to try to make you afraid,” Obama said at the fundraiser. “They’re going to try to make you afraid of me. He’s young and inexperienced and he’s got a funny name. And did I mention he’s black? He’s got a feisty wife.”

No examples given, just the direct statement that the GOP would use the race card.

On another stop in Springfield, Missouri, Obama continued along that theme and said, "So nobody really thinks that Bush or McCain have a real answer for the challenges we face, so what they're going to try to do is make you scared of me. You know, he's not patriotic enough. He's got a funny name. You know, he doesn't look like all those other Presidents on those dollar bills, you know. He's risky. That's essentially the argument they're making."

Obama critics and John McCain as well as his campaign are leveling the same charges at Obama that Bill Clinton did during the primaries, claiming that it is Obama, in fact, using the race card and not the GOP or John McCain.

McCain campaign manager Rick Davis sends a statement to reporters that states, "Barack Obama has played the race card, and he played it from the bottom of the deck. It's divisive, negative, shameful and wrong."

John McCain weighs in saying that his campaign's accusations against Barack Obama using the race card are fair and accurate.

Obama critics believe this a mask that is starting to come off whenever Obama feels threatened, by stating, "It seems clear, therefore, that the race card has become a permanent part of Obama's hand, a wild card to be played whenever the spirit, or the circumstances, so moves him."

Others are suggesting that playing the race card, then denying it is Obama's way of trying to have it both ways.

Obama is covering himself here just a bit by making his accusation predictive -- "going to" -- but this seems to be a pretty clear effort at having it both ways.

In researching this piece the only references to race I have found is Obama predicting what others are going to do, but no actual reference other than the McCain campaign showing examples of Obama bringing up the issue.

Is claiming that the GOP is "going to" do something fair without presenting evidence that they have already done it?

Is this Obama's defense mechanism when polls are down and the media is becoming critical?

Last but not least, was Bill Clinton correct back during the primaries and is the McCain correct now in claiming that Obama is the one using the race card by predicting others will?

Report: Hilton Family Fuming Over McCain Ad Spoofing Paris and Obama

There has been much talk about the ad above where the McCain campaign invokes Britney Spears and Paris Hilton by comparing Barack Obama's "rock star" appeal to the two used in the ad, but since the Hilton Family are McCain donors, was it smart?

Many have defended the comparison of Barack Obama with Paris Hilton and Britney Spears and many have criticized it, but considering that the Hilton family are donors to the John McCain campaign, the next question becomes, wasn't it like biting the hand that feeds you?

The Hiltons are the family behind the international chain of full-service Hilton hotels and resorts. There are 533 Hilton branded hotels across the world.

Reports are starting to come out that after the release of the video, the McCain campaign phones were ringing off the hook- the callers being none other than McCain donors from the Hilton family.

Paris Hilton's father, Rick has donated $6,300 to the McCain campaign, her mother Kathy, 2,300 and Paris' grandfather William, co-chairman of the Hilton Hotel chain, and the original owner of the San Diego Chargers, has donated tens of thousands of dollars to the RNC and McCain.

Which explains the reports buzzing around the blogosphere about how Grandpa William was none too pleased with the use of his grand-daughter to compare to Barack Obama in the new ad..

It seems that the elder Hilton has donated $18,400 to the McCain campaign, and $35,000 to the National Republican Senatorial Committee in the last couple of years. (Paris’s father, Rick Hilton, has given an additional $6,900 to the McCain campaign. Suffice it to say, he’s none too pleased either.)

The McCain campaign finally hit on a theme that reports are saying has gained traction, but the use of a member of a very rich, influential family that happens to be supporters of John McCain, could be called not thinking ahead or looking at the big picture by some.

The same comparison could have been made using any number of different people, so one has to wonder why the campaign chose Paris Hilton, knowing that her family are contributors to John McCain and the Republican National committee.

Obama's 'Mojo' Went The Way Of Paris and Britney's 'Mojo'

Our friend Andrew from LA Times' Top of the Ticket asks where Barack Obama's mojo went.

The title is his answer..the mojo went where Paris Hilton's mojo went, where Britney Spears' mojo went, where everyones mojo, who is inundated with news coverage, bad and good, goes.

Yesterday when I saw the ad associating Barack Obama with Paris and Britney, after I laughed, I thought....exactly.

Here is ad in question, via YouTube and shown below.

This ad does two things, it brings up the point that Obama is against offshore drilling, while the majority of the American public is for it, and tells of Obama's propensity to think higher taxes is the key to solving everything.

The second thing it does is show something we brought up yesterday, Obama has bought his own "rock star, messiah, golden child" hype and even the media has noticed and mentioned it.

McCain's campaign manager, Rick Davis, sent an email out to supporters, which said, "As you and I know, simply attracting large crowds of fans with empty rhetoric doesn't prepare a person to lead a country. The more we get to know the real Barack Obama, the more he shows that he is not ready to lead our country."

Character, when trying to obtain the most powerful office in the United states, is just as important as policy issues because that is a person that represents the country to the world and although Obama was largely an unknown entity before this campaign season, thanks to the media fawning all over him, he is not unknown any longer.

The American people now know that he can speak well, but they also know that he changes his mind on the turn of a dime even to the point of angering his most ardent base (think FISA here), he speaks without thinking then claims that he "phrased" things badly and didn't really mean his words they way they came out (think undivided Jerusalem here), his associations (think Wright, Rezko, Meeks, Pfleger, Ayers....etc) have been scrutinized almost as strongly as Britney's lack of wearing underwear was.

Scrutiny is a good thing and the information obtained from that scrutiny is what has happened to that mojo that Andrew asks about.

Barack Obama has become a prima donna, criticisms and pointing out his character flaws is automatically a "smear" in his and his supporters minds and mentioning his complete inexperience is considered racism because they cannot counter the argument, screaming racism is the best they can do. It is Obama himself and his supporters that bring race into every argument.

He has angered Hill Democrats and annoyed the press with his attitude. He has told middle America they cling to their guns and religion because they are bitter and he has gone back on his word to his own supporters.

His mojo was gone as soon as the media decided to focus on their love child to the exclusion of almost everything else because when you shone a spotlight on a person, their flaws become apparent.

The Politico declares that the "GOP's celeb-Obama message gains traction"...they are right, the Obama celebrity message is resounding with the public, as evidenced by David Letterman's skit of the "Top Ten Signs Barack Obama is Overconfident".

2. Offered Bush 20 bucks for the "Mission Accomplished" banner
3. Asked guy at Staples, "Which chair will work best in an oval-shaped office?"
4. The affair with Barbara Walters

6. Guy sits around eating soup all day
7. He's voting for Nader
8. Offered McCain a job in gift shop at Obama Presidential Library
9. Announced his running mate will be Andy Dick
10. Been cruising for chicks with John Edwards

The problem with The Politico's headline though is that it wasn't the GOP's message, it was Obama's message, the GOP just pointed it out.

It was Obama that decided to change venues for the last day of the DNC convention to a "larger" stadium for a bigger audience. It was Obama that decided to take a full media entourage on his overseas "fact finding" trip, it was Obama that decided to speak to tens of thousands of non American voters in Berlin, Germany. It was Obama that declared "I have become a symbol of the possibility of America returning to our best traditions."

Obama and his campaign, with his supporters are the ones that made the "celebrity" message resonate and now they are whining that the McCain campaign noticed it and highlighted it?

Obama is now being laughed at by comedians and audiences across the spectrum, just as Britney was when she was caught without underwear and when she shaved her head, just as Paris was when that video surfaced.

That is the problem when you try to become a celebrity, it works, it gets noticed and it gets spoken about.

[Update] How well is the message resonating, might find a hint in the latest poll numbers, discussed over at Hot Air.

Another fire - another call for help

Yes, another fire has taken EVERYTHING some of our troops have. This time it is an army unit in Iraq. Excerpts from the calls for help I got:

It is ... Army and they are at FOB ****** which is somewhere in Baghdad and a pit hole to begin with....

40 guys lost EVERYTHING - I MEAN EVERYTHING - so anything is good as they have nothing. More than that lost some things due to water and smoke and all the other things that come with a fire...

It can be as small as snacks or coffee or towels or socks or t-shirts or underwear - I mean they lost everything..

...ARMY unit who had a fire in their building and they lost EVERYTHING!! I mean these kids lost their uniforms, ipods, computer, cd's, DVD's, shoes, towels, Literally everything! ...

...but it was like close to 100 soldiers who are without anything....They are all male soldiers....

Iraq’s Interior Minister Thanks U.S. Troops for Liberating Iraq -- [CNS News]

A top Iraqi official visited wounded American troops at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., Tuesday to thank them for their part in ending Saddam Hussein’s rule in his country.

“We have come … to express our gratitude and appreciation for the sacrifices made by these great warriors, soldiers, in freeing the Iraqi people and in helping us in Iraq recover from tyranny and dictatorship,” Jawad Karim al-Bolani, Iraq’s minister of the interior, said through a translator to a handful of journalists in the lobby of the medical center.

More Boogeymen For The Anti-War Crowd- Colorado Information Analysis Center Stepping Up Security For Democratic Convention

With the planned protests from a variety of groups to be held during the Democratic National Convention, the CIAC will be operating 24 hours a day and be fully staffed with up to eight intelligence analysts at any given time.

The CIAC is the Colorado Information Analysis Center, also known as a "fusion center", which is one of the agencies set up after the September 11, 2001 attack and their responsibility is to coordinate efforts to prevent, protect against, respond to, recover from, and prosecute acts of terrorism. The CIAC is a multi agency fusion center created to help prevent terrorism incidents in Colorado.

CIAC personnel also take reports of suspicious activities from citizens and other police departments. If a report is deemed by analysts to require additional investigation, it is shared with the appropriate law enforcement officials, but if a report is not determined to merit further inspection, CIAC workers make a log of the event, according to Clem, essentially creating a massive collection of data, some of it reliable and some of it not.

There has been much talk about the planned protests that will coincide with the Democratic National Convention.

Re-create 68 is planning to protest, some Clinton supporters have vowed to be there and anti-war activists, angry that the Democrats have funded the Iraq war further, have also promised to protest.

The concern of Colorado officials has caused certain security measures to be discussed, such as chains, quick-setting cement, homemade locking devices that are resistant to bolt cutters and "any noxious substance", according to City Council members.

Other precautions being implemented are the use of fences to be built around the area where the protesters will be allowed to gather. That measure was criticized by the ACLU and other groups who brought suit against officials for those preparations

According to U.S. Secret Service agent Steven Hughes, who is overseeing security for the convention attendees, there will also be a fence to surround an area where delegates, VIPs, former presidents, and others with credentials for the convention will pass, his reasoning being so that no explosive objects can be hurled over the fences. He continues to say, "As delegates arrive, we want to offer them the opportunity to walk safely into the Pepsi Center. We don't extend our perimeter further than we believe is necessary."

Other concerns expressed by members of the Re-create 68 crowd and other activists is their belief that the Government will use what they term as "Brown Notes" on them. Legend has it has the Brown Note is an infrasonic frequency believed to resonate through human body parts and cause a loss of bowel control.

The scene is set and news today shows us that the CIAC is planning to step up their intelligence gathering operations during the Democratic National Convention, to keep the officials attending the convention safe.

“CIAC is going to be expanding hours for physical presence in the office,” Clem says about the convention. “Any known threats specifically related to the convention are going to go right to the United States Secret Service and FBI, but CIAC is going to be there to take any reports that citizens have.”

Malcolm Wiley, a spokesman for the Secret Service, says he can't confirm if members of his agency will be physically present at CIAC while the convention takes place, but he does acknowledge the center's part in analyzing intelligence data during the event.

“They'll be sharing information with other intelligence gatherers,” including the Secret Service and FBI, Wiley says.

Once again though, activists are expressing concern about the heightened security measures being implemented.

When the Democratic National Convention is held in August, CIAC will be operating 24 hours a day and be fully staffed with up to eight intelligence analysts at any given time.

Some civil libertarians claim that the reports that the intelligence agencies might be investigating could just be anti-war protesters or "photographing federal facilities that could be targeted for terrorist attack". They are also expressing worry that the CIAC will be spying on Americans exercising their First Amendment rights at the convention.

The four days of the Democratic convention are guaranteed to be busy and probably hectic as well with the events going on inside, the protests outside and the massive security being implemented to keep the members of the Democratic party safe.

The security measures have both pros and cons associated with them. On one hand they have critics claiming that some of those measures are infringing on their first amendment rights and on the other hand the government does have a responsibility to the members of the Democratic party and all those attending the Democratic National Convention, to keep them safe.

The balancing act will be for officials to manage to find the middle ground so they do not infringe on first amendment rights and they do keep the attendees safe.

What Do You Tell the Demons?

Radarsite is fortunate to have made a lot of good friends in this small part of the blogosphere. Many of these friends and fellow bloggers are veterans. Some from the deadly jungles of Vietnam. And some from unheralded battles and wars that must still remain classified. These people are special. They all seem to share some common fundamental traits: a certain toughness of mind, coupled with a deep hard-won humility. And one common trait which I particularly value -- an absolute and uncompromising self-honesty, and a correspondingly low threshold for bulls**t. It's almost as though they've developed a sixth sense that picks it up immediately. This is one of the reasons why it pays to listen to their opinions and to heed their warnings. They are coming to you directly without interference from the ego.

Our good friend Snooper is one of these special people. For those of you who know him you are familiar with the sound of his voice. And it's an impressive sound, isn't it? It gets your attention immediately. It reaches right out and grabs you. There's no equivocation there, no fumbling ambiguities. Just dead on truth. His truth. And if you don't like it, tough.

Men like this seldom wax nostalgic. They seldom complain, they rarely talk about their feelings or their fears. But on those rare occasions when they do, we listen. And we listen closely.

This is one of those times. This particular posting took me completely off guard. It 'reached out and grabbed me'. It is something special. Something we don't see every day. Something we will remember.

I am posting this short essay of Snooper's today in honor of all of those friends of ours who have learned what truth really means. Those who have served and have sacrificed, and who, in their very private moments in the darkness still serve and still sacrifice. - rg

Many years ago, there came a point in my life when I had to deal with the demons that came to me from time to time once and for all. They still appear from time to time but I know what to say to them now to dispense with their intent to destroy anything they are set out to destroy. And no, I am not talking about some grotesque monster or some sabre-toothed, four-eyed beast-man nor am I referring to some anti-angelic supernatural presence. I am talking about things that cannot be described unless someone has experienced the same events. I am referring to memories triggered by people, places and things beyond my control. I am talking about fighting the "what if" or the "if I had only done this differently" syndrome(s).

Those that have met me don't really know who I am but yet I sense that they sense things about me...kind of hard to explain that but there it is. Those that have read selected readings from my manuscript know a little bit more about me but have a stronger sense as to who I am. Those that have read my articles, pieces and blog posts might think they have an inside track as to a beginning of a glimpse into the Real Me.

Years ago, an individual that I respected very deeply asked me a question during a time of reckoning in my life. He asked, "What do you tell the demons when they come out at night?" The question floored me because at the time, we were doing the deal for God, Flag and Country. We were marking targets. We were observing enemy movements. We were plotting their very demise. A short time later, we watched a movie entitled "In The Line Of Fire". It had our hero Clint Eastwood in it so naturally it just had to be a good flick. Yes? Certainly. Until. Until "Frank" asked the "Bad Guy" a question: "What do you see in the dark when the demons come?" The answer? "I see you". We didn't remember much of the movie thereafter because we looked at each other in complete amazement and our world crumbled before us. The cat was out of the bag. One can only suppress so many things for a specific period of time until the bottom drops out from under you. No one knows when that will take place but take place it will.The dialog just before that question and answer period is as follows: "They made you into a real monster didn't they?" "That's right. And now they want to destroy me because we can't have monsters running around the quiet countryside now can we?" (audio file here)

Does that give you chills? Does it? Does it not? I have seen this movie several times since and that particular part of the movie to this day sends chills up and down my spine because that movie started my "associate" and I on our long journey of recovery.He has since passed on to the Soldier's Lair having died where he wanted to, on the beaches of Australia almost two years ago. I will miss him but, before he left for Australia, he asked me to promise that I will never give up the fight and I swore an Oath to him, knowing that I would never see him again on this planet, that I would Soldier On. We shook hands, hugged and saluted our last. And, I - Soldier On. Will you Soldier On? Will you Embrace The Suck?

I believe that I have more insight than most into that which we face in this nation at this current time in the cosmos. Barack Hussein Obama or, Czarbama as I have come to call him, is America's latest Demon. What will we say to our children and our children's children when they ask us, "Why did we sit idly by and allow this cretin to become president and destroy the last hope of freedom in the world?"

As this country spirals down into some allusively morphed form of socio-communist-American liberal tyranny, what will you say to the demons as they come to you at night as you lay in bed kicking yourself in the ass for not standing up and fighting?The time has come to choose sides. Will you be a part of the American Awakening or will you sit idly by and let others do the dirty work because it is too inconvenient to turn the TV off? In this era of the pollsters knowing absolutely nothing, will you sit idly by and allow the politicians under a Leftinistra veto-proof Congress with a Marxist Thug Demon as in Czarbama at the helm bring about forced servitude of those between the ages of 18 and 42? Is this your Grand Scheme? And, it is a Good Plan? Not hardly. We saw how well that worked in 2006, didn't we? Why are Conservatives so stupid at times anyway?

We all know why the Unions - read that Teamsters - all favor the Democrats, I mean Leftinistra, don't we? We do know that union wages are tied to minimum wage, don't we? We do know that union wages are set to be at times 6 times the minimum wage, don't we? Is it any wonder why the labor unions suck up to the socialists? Can you spell useful morons? With The American Demon Czarbama at the helm, he wants to get rid of Teamsters oversight. Is that a good thing? Why, no, it isn't. Perhaps Czarbama wants to create his Civilian National Security Force with the culling from the Teamsters. One never knows.

Rick Moran at Right Wing Nut House a few days ago placed an article up entitled, "TOP TEN THINGS THAT CREEP ME OUT ABOUT OBAMA". Whereas he has touched Spot On, I would like to add a few things to that list. Behold:

#15) Czarbama has publicly presented himself as the New Lenin and all one has to do to confirm that is to gaze upon his posters in Berlin and compare them to the posters from the age of Lenin.

#17) Czarbama associates himself with those that have financed our enemies to fight against us and to kill and wound our Troops in battle.

#18) Czarbama blames the United States for 91101 and he did that eight says after the infamous day when the dust and smoke hadn't even subsided yet.

#19) Czarbama denies that the Troop Surge was an ingenious plan and that it was successful.
#20) Czarbama wants to increase our taxes by $4,000 per household.Is that enough yet? Not quite.

#21) Czarbama wants to add an additional $285 BILLION in taxes to finance the American Global War on Poverty.

#22) Czarbama wants to ratify L.O.S.T..That is all for now. So, tell me again how he will be good for the nation in the long run. Czarbama wants to strip this nation of its sovereignty and surrender to our enemies. Some say that he will be a lame duck from his first day. Consider this.Czarbama gets into the White House and along with him comes a veto-proof conglomerate and there will be nothing to stop him from reversing all of President Bush's accomplishments, both good and bad. There will be nothing to stop the Fairness Doctrine from becoming a reality. There will be nothing to stop him from raising taxes to the degree of which we have never seen. There will be nothing to stop him from creating his Civilian National Security Forces and there will be nothing to stop the Universal National Service Act. We will no longer have a voice to be heard. Conservative talk shows both professional and BTR will cease to exist. Conservative bloggers and Conservative outlets will vanish.

Czarbama mentioned at one time his presidency would be for 8 to 10 years. So much for the 22nd Amendment and kiss the United States Constitution goodbye because once we are turned over to the One World United Nations Consortium and World Court, the Conservative Voice is history. Remember the List of 45? Have you read it? Have you memorized it? Are you armed? Do you give a damn? If not, why then, did we fight for you? Do you give a damn? If not, why then, should we fight for you again?

Immigration Policy in America: What do Americans Think?

The current Immigration Policy of the United States has put the country in danger of a future as a possible third world nation. Americans who are vastly pro-immigrant, are worried about the influx of Immigrants and the stability of America.

Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me
I lift my light beside the golden door!

These words entered onto America's own Colossus lovingly know as the Statue of Liberty can be found in any debate on immigration, be it legal or illegal. The argument that America was founded on immigration and should continue along that same path is supported by the snippet of a poem by Emma Lazarus. These words and others, usually volatile and accusing, have become a bane to the real issue facing America. This issue is not whether or not Americans like immigrants, or want immigrants, it is if the country can afford more immigrants and sustain a culture and society at the current levels.

Most Americans would agree that immigrants are an essential and welcome part of the American culture and society. If you ask an American about their cultural heritage most will pour through 5 - 10 different nationalities from Europe, Africa, Russia, Asia, South American and Native American. Many will proudly proclaim that they are a descendant of someone on the May Flower, or that their originating ancestor has their name at Ellis Island. Immigration is a proud part of the heritage of the nation. However, Americans today are faced with a new downside of the proud beginnings of America.

The history of immigration is important to understand before discussing immigration today. Before 1965 the average number of immigrants coming into America averaged 255,000 a year. A quarter of a million people kept new blood into America and fueled our economy making America one of the richest nations on earth. The large landmass of America had no problem accommodating immigrants, who came with their immediate families.

After 1965 Congress restructured immigration allowing extended families beyond the "nuclear families" to enter the United States. This meant that not only did we have mothers, fathers, and children coming over as a family unit, but also grandparents, in-laws, cousins, aunts and uncles, nephews and nieces. The average amount of immigrants coming to America surged to 1 million a year, 2 million a year if you add illegal immigrants to the mix. What this means is that immigrants are arriving in America faster than new jobs can be created, land can be developed, and schools can be built. The numbers are causing a sharp rise in population that is becoming more difficult for America to sustain, and these are just the legal numbers. If illegal immigrants are added to the mix one can expect the American bubble to burst.

Immigration invokes large amounts of competition for land and resources such as jobs and homes; not only are citizens competing with immigrants, but the immigrants are competing with each other. The high number of immigrants has created a crisis specifically in the job force. Usually healthy competition is a good sign in an economy run by capitalism, but there have been more reports of hundreds of people applying for one position. Illegal immigrants tend to take low-skilled jobs that go to people who are undereducated or only proficient in a specific trade skill. People are calling for the mass deportation of illegals, but in reality deporting 10-12% of the workforce would cause even more of an economic collapse than America is experiencing right now. The current amount of deportations from area to area seem to be more logical, but is a gradual draw down of all types of immigration seems to be the prefered action.

The fix for the problem offered by Roy Beck, is the return to pre 1965 levels of immigration that were not only sustainable but beneficial to America. He is supported by a majority of Americans in this sentiment, but as he explains in his popular immigration video, Americans are reluctant to talk about it because many have immigrant friends who they love dearly and do not wish to see any harm come to them. That is the reason why the numbers do not reflect that actions taken.

The Numbers of Immigration:

¨ Over one million immigrants enter the United States every year. (Immigration and Naturalization Service) ¨ Immigration has accounted for 70% of U.S. population growth this decade. (Center for Immigration Studies)

¨ If mass immigration continues, the population of the United States is projected to exceed 500 million by 2050. (Census Bureau)¨ Population growth causes per capita municipality taxes to rise. Per capita taxes in municipalities of any given size average 25% higher than those in municipalities of half the size. (Professor Albert Bartlett, University of Colorado, Boulder)

¨ An estimated 1.88 million U.S. workers have been displaced from their jobs because of immigration, including many "discouraged" workers who have dropped out of the employment market. (Dr. Donald Huddle, Rice University)¨ 44% of the decline in the real wages of high school dropouts from 1980-1994 was due to mass immigration of less-skilled immigrants. (National Research Council 5/97)

¨ Over 1 million acres of land are lost annually to urban, transportation, and industrial expansion. Another 2 million acres of farmland are lost annually to erosion, salinization, and unsustainable agricultural practices. In sum, we lose about 3 million acres a year. Thus given U.S. population growth of about 3 million a year, for each person added to our population, 1 acre of open land is lost. (Dr. David Pimentel, Cornell University)

¨ The United States' ability to support a population within its carrying capacity is already being strained because of continued population growth. Fifty percent of our original wetlands have been drained to accommodate growth. (Environmental Protection Agency) Ninety-five percent of all U.S. old growth forests have been cut down. (Save America's Forests)

¨ Increasing traffic congestion, school overcrowding and increasing costs, and pollution are among the many negative consequences of immigration-generated population growth. (Population-Environment Balance)

The Numbers of Immigration Opinion:

• 41% of Republicans and 45% of Democrats support stopping legal immigration altogether. (Gallup poll, October 2000)

• 84% of Americans support tighter restrictions on immigration. (McPheters & Company and Beta Research, November 2001

• Six in ten Americans support reducing legal immigration levels. (CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll, October 2001)

• A Roper poll in January 1996 found that 83% of Americans favor a lower immigration level. 70% favor restricting immigration to less than 300,000 new immigrants a year (including 70% of Republicans, 73% of African-Americans, and 52% of Hispanics). Most want even larger cuts: 54% favor an immigration level of below 100,000 a year. 20% support no immigration at all.

Ludacris Releases Song about Barack Obama- Obama Campaign Calls It Offensive

Ludacris is three-time Grammy Award-winning American rapper who has released a song about Barack Obama and calling Hillary Clinton a bitch. Both the Obama campaign and a former Clinton aide have denounced the song.

In one verse of the song Ludacris says that "Hillary hated on you, so that bitch is irrelevant" and in other lyrics it encourages blacks to "get off their ass" and vote for Obama.

Immediately former Clinton national finance co-chair, Yashar Hedayat spoke out and told Huffington Post, "I hope Senator Obama has the presence of mind to denounce and distance himself from Ludacris. In May, when Father Pfleger made those horrible remarks about Senator Clinton at Trinity United, Senator Obama didn't do much to defend her and John McCain was the first to rush to her defense."

The Obama campaign weighed in after the news of the song release, via campaign spokesman Bill Burton calling the song offensive and saying that Ludacris should be ashamed of the lyrics.

Burton's full statement was, "As Barack Obama has said many, many times in the past, rap lyrics today too often perpetuate misogyny, materialism, and degrading images that he doesn’t want his daughters or any children exposed to. This song is not only outrageously offensive to Senator Clinton, Reverend Jackson, Senator McCain, and President Bush, it is offensive to all of us who are trying to raise our children with the values we hold dear. While Ludacris is a talented individual he should be ashamed of these lyrics."

McCain's New Ad Debut's While His Older One Is Shown Far More Than The Ad Buy

The media is full of criticism today about the older ad, where the McCain campaign takes issue with Obama's refusal to honor his commitment to visiting the troops in Germany, which has run far more than the original ad buy accounted for by news shows running it hundreds of times.

The number of times Senator John McCain’s new advertisement attacking Senator Barack Obama for canceling a visit with wounded troops in Germany last week has been shown fully or partly on local, national and cable newscasts: well into the hundreds.

The number of times that spot actually, truly ran as a paid commercial: roughly a dozen.

Result for Mr. McCain: a public relations coup that allowed him to show his toughest campaign advertisement of the year — one widely panned as misleading — to millions of people, largely free, through television news media hungry for political news with arresting visual imagery.

Political campaigns have for years sought to broadcast their ads free by making them intriguing enough to draw wide coverage from news outlets.

You always know when an ad is being effective and doing the job it was intended to do when the opposing political party pundits start howling at the moon.

The best saved for last of course is the hysterical concept of the NYT daring speak of the "low road", to which Ed Morrisey over at Hot Air takes them to woodshed while offering some visual reminders of how the NYT and the Obama campaign have stayed on the low road and are now whining about John McCain fighting back.

Finally the John McCain campaign is making it clear they are in the fight and have stopped taking punches without landing a few hard hitting ones of their own.

Family Of Nine Loses Savings Because Of Craigslist Rental Scam

The Reeves family consists of nine members and they lost their savings after falling for an elaborate rental scam listed on Craigslist.

The Reeves family was new to the Arizona Valley area and they thought they had found the perfect home to rent, listed in Craigslist.

Matthew Reeves and his wife met a man and his wife, Jim and Jaime Williams, that they thought were the owners of the house, painters were painting, but other work needed to be done to make the house ready for occupants. They made arrangements to do the carpets, maintenance and get the locks changed in return for a discount on their deposit. They signed the lease and got their receipt for $1,500.

Then they went home to celebrate.

The next day they went and started cleaning the home and then on Saturday, they started the move but when they got there Pam Dambley, the actual owner of the house was there.

She recounts her conversation with the Reeves':

“I said, ‘Excuse me, you live here?’ And he says, ‘We just rented it,’ and I said, ‘From who?’

Matthew Reeves says he and his wife just cried.

The $1,500 they had given to the fake owners was all they had.

The Dambley's, showing compassion that not many would, felt for the Reeves family and allowed them stay and gave them August for free since they had lost all their money.

The Reeves refer to her as their angel.

Peoria Arizona police are asking for the public's help in looking for the scam artists responsible. They are described as "a short heavyset woman and a man with crooked teeth and a heart tattooed on one hand. They were last seen driving a white Chevy Blazer."

The advice the police give to people looking to buy or rent a home is to check with the County Assessors Office to see who the actual homeowner is.

You can also go to companies like www.Titlesearches.com or other companies that provide the same type of service, and do a title search, it cost a relatively low amount of money, but they provide information about the current owner, the mortgage, tax information about how much taxes are paid for the home in question, and they also provide a copy of the warranty deed.

Scams like the one the Reeves' family became victims of was a rental scam, but title searches are just as important for those buying a home because one doesn't wish to invest their savings into a home that is about to go into foreclosure just to have the owners leave town with your money.

Bloggasm, LA Times Blog Editor, National Enquirer and John Edwards

Quick rundown..

The National Enquirer claimed that it had caught John Edwards in a secret meeting with his Mistress, Fox News confirmed a portion of the story which said that John Edwards hid from National Enquirer reporters in the restroom at the Beverly Hilton and that security escorted him out. Fox confirmed it by speaking with hotel security.

Then a story came out about the LA Times blog editor requesting, via email, that bloggers do not write about the story.

One LA Times blogger told me at that time that he hadn't been asked to refrain from reporting about it and offered a report that was done on the topic as evidence.

Now we are caught up...

Today, Simon from Bloggasm, reports that he spoke with Tony Pierce, the LA Times blog editor to ask him about that email.

I spoke to Pierce for a few minutes on the phone today. He said the decision to send the email came after several senior editors at the Times met that day.

“The Opinion LA blog had already written about the rumors from the National Enquirer,” he explained. “We knew some of the other blogs wanted to write about it or were thinking about writing about it. And at that point we were like, ‘you know, we already have our metro desk working on a story and before we just kind of write a whole bunch of stuff about the National Enquirer article, why don’t we give our metro desk a chance to see what they can find.’ That’s when they said, ‘OK Tony, why don’t you write this letter to your bloggers.”

When I brought up the argument made by many that they were trying to bury the story, Pierce pointed out that one of the blogs had already written about it. The editors simply wanted to give the metro reporters a chance to dig into it and see if they could find any new information, he said, rather than just having the Times website create a bunch of noise.

Read the rest over at Bloggasm, but one specific paragraph following the excerpts I show, caught my attention:

I asked Pierce if the metro desk had the chance to follow up on the story, and if so, would he send out another post allowing his bloggers to write about it. He said that to his knowledge the LA Times reporters hadn’t found any additional information and expressed some skepticism of the National Enquirer story’s authenticity.

Considering Fox managed to get a hotel security guard to speak to them and confirm a portion of the story, does this mean the LA Times research crew didn't really try or were incapable of doing what Fox had no problem doing?

Pierce did admit he could have phrased his email better, but it still doesn't explain how as new information comes up, that doesn't mean that LA Times bloggers shouldn't be able to follow up on it.

Next is today's story which again many expect the MSM to continue to ignore, about the National Enquirer now claiming that John Edwards has been paying $15,000 a month in a coverup scheme to over the Rielle Hunter/Love child mess.

The money is being funneled to Hunter by a wealthy colleague who was closely tied to the Edwards’ campaign. This same man is also shoveling cash to Edwards’ pal and former aide Andrew Young – who tried to take the heat off the ex-Senator by claiming he is the father of Rielle’s baby.

I guess we will see if the MSM continues to enforce their news blackout on these allegations or if they will actually try to do their job and research, question and report on their findings.

U.S. Senator Jim Webb Aide Found Dead From Apparent Gunshot Wound

Frederick W. Hutchins Jr, 26 years-old and an aide to U.S. Senator Jim Webb, was found dead outside of a vehicle which was parked on a highway shoulder, in Virginia.

Hutchins' body was found on a small embankment beside the road along southbound U.S. 220, by a Botetourt County deputy who stopped to check on the vehicle yesterday.

According to Sheriff Ronnie Sprinkle, Hutchins had been shot in the head and the gun was found underneath of him. The official cause of death will be determined by the medial examiner.

It is believed the time of death was between 4:30 am when an officer passed that area and saw no vehicle and 7:08 am when the officer stopped to check the parked vehicle and found the body.

Senator Jim Webb issued a statement today saying, "I am terribly saddened by the tragic and sudden death of Fred Hutchins, who diligently managed our Roanoke Senate office. Freddie was one of the most honorable and friendly individuals I have had the pleasure of knowing. He was a mainstay in the Roanoke community and a friend to all who knew him. My condolences go out to his mother, Karen, and the rest of his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.”

The Media Starting To Worry About Obama's Messiah Complex

The Trail reports that Barack Obama has started buying in to his own Messiah hype by describing a meeting he had with his peasants (House Democrats) where he makes a couple statements that shows his ego and obsession with himself seems to be getting out of control.

He tells his peasants "this is the moment, as Nancy [Pelosi] noted, that the world is waiting for."

He further states "I have become a symbol of the possibility of America returning to our best traditions."

The Washington Post also seems to be a tad worried about the presumptuousness of Obama as well as noticing that he has started angering reporters...the ones that actually gave him encouragement to start buying his own hype, are now noticing the arrogance.

In the latest issue of the New Republic, Gabriel Sherman found reporters complaining that Obama's campaign was "acting like the Prom Queen" and being more secretive than Bush. The magazine quoted the New York Times' Adam Nagourney's reaction to the Obama campaign's memo attacking one of his stories: "I've never had an experience like this, with this campaign or others." Then came Obama's overseas trip and the campaign's selection of which news organizations could come aboard. Among those excluded: the New Yorker magazine, which had just published a satirical cover about Obama that offended the campaign.

I asked him what presents he takes home to his daughters. “Anytime I make a stop, Sasha gets snow globes and Malia gets key chains,” he said. “Somebody is assigned to that.”

“You have a snow globe aide?” I marveled.

He also admitted that he didn’t know exactly what was in those blue boxes with ribbons that his body man, Reggie Love, was toting for world leaders.

“I was not well organized enough to personally think of what presents to give these guys,” Obama said. “Hopefully, should I end up being president, I can put my touch on the present thing. But I didn’t even know it was a custom to give presents other than state visits.”

Obama's attitude which has largely been created by those in the media that now seem to be concerned about, is exactly what Democratic aides recently complained about by calling his campaign insufferable, insular, uncooperative and inattentive.

It looks like the boy wonder's "audacity" is starting to grate on the media's nerves a bit.

Despite his portrayal as an ape, Obama has rewarded his detractors, and Israeli Jews' killers, with a naive indulgence for “peace talks” not seen since the days Bill Clinton helped set the stage for the Palestinian intifada.

“I believe the next U.S. administration should move quickly,” Barack Obama told far-Left Israeli journalist Akiva Eldar last Wednesday. “I have had in-depth discussions today with Israeli and Palestinian leaders, and encouraged all of them to make as much progress as they can in their negotiations this year.”

He added, “The next U.S. administration should...help the parties build on the progress that has been made thus far, and continue to work toward the goal of two states living side by side in peace and security.”

Obama was here for a lightning one-day tour of Israel and the Palestinian Authority. In the latter, of course, he met with Mahmoud Abbas, who a few days earlier sent his tidings to a brutal murderer of a four-year-old girl.

Eldar, writing in the left-wing daily Haaretz, says “associates” of Obama told him that, if elected, Obama “has no intention of wasting time on consolidating an ‘Obama peace plan.’ He would rather dive in and promote the peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians on the basis of existing American initiatives.”

Eldar also says “one of Obama’s senior consultants on the Middle East” told him that “Obama would attempt to deepen U.S. involvement in the peace process between Israel and the Palestinians” and “what would change…is the U.S. distanced position, as the consultant put it, in which Washington monitors developments but generally prefers to refrain from a more hands-on policy.”

First, considering that Obama’s Middle East advisers include the likes of former Carter and Clinton administration dove Anthony Lake (instrumental in dumping the Shah and catapulting the Ayatollah Khomeini to power), former Carter adviser and sharp Israel-foe Zbigniew Brzezinski, and Iraq Study Group co-chair (with James Baker) Lee Hamilton, Eldar’s words are more than plausible.

Second, those who have noticed (among much else) Condoleezza Rice’s obsessive 16 visits to Israel and the Palestinian Authority in three years—all aimed at pushing Israel back to indefensible borders—will be surprised to hear that the U.S. has been maintaining a “distanced position” and can only fearfully imagine what “deepened involvement” would look like.

Meanwhile, also on Wednesday, the Anti-Defamation League reported that “editorial cartoonists in the Arab world are using direct or borderline anti-Semitism in their portrayal of the presumptive U.S. presidential candidates as lackeys of the Jews and Israel…The cartoons ignore the issues of the campaign and instead engage in hate-filled characterizations of Jews and overt racist stereotypes.”

ADL national director Abraham H. Foxman noted, “Once again, the Arab media does not miss an opportunity to promote classic anti-Semitic conspiracy theories of Jewish control over Washington, the media and the democratic process.” He added: “Their aim is not to provoke discussion or challenge ideas, but to spread horrific stereotypes of Jews. Some cartoons also use classical racist stereotypes to portray Senator Obama.”

Foxman also said the ADL provided copies of the report to the McCain and Obama campaigns.

On this page, the ADL gives samples of the cartoons, beginning with seven cartoons taken from mainstream, official Palestinian Authority newspapers over the last two months. There’s one of a grotesque, apish-looking Obama hulking behind Israel’s security fence with what look like some small, scheming, nasty Jews; one of a grinning, impish Obama peering from the pants seat of a blue-and-white-clad, Star of David-bearing Jew…and many more such images.

It's undeniable both that the Obama campaign has a report of these hateful images and that no news media report that he has demanded such caricatures stop. Instead, Obama promises to accelerate the demented quest of the current U.S. and Israeli governments to award the bigots with sovereignty over strategic land overlooking Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.

Political Punch Fact Checks Obama

The question that Jack Tapper fact checks is this, "From the Fact Check Desk: Did Obama Say During the Debate Over the Surge That "There's No Doubt that Additional U.S. Troops Could Temporarily Quell the Violence?"

Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, on January 10 2007 predicted (watch HERE) that the surge of troops in Iraq would fail. "I am not persuaded that 20,000 additional troops in Iraq is going to solve the sectarian violence there," he told MSNBC. "In fact, I think it will do the reverse."

Four days later he told CBS's Face the Nation, that "we cannot impose a military solution on what has effectively become a civil war. And until we acknowledge that reality -- we can send 15,000 more troops, 20,000 more troops, 30,000 more troops, I don't know any expert on the region or any military officer that I've spoken to privately that believes that that is going to make a substantial difference on the situation on the ground."

Asked about these predictions on Sunday's Meet the Press, Obama told NBC's Tom Brokaw that "I know that there's that little snippet that you ran," referring to the MSNBC clip, "but there were also statements made during the course of this debate in which I said there's no doubt that additional U.S. troops could temporarily quell the violence. But unless we saw an underlying change in the politics of the country, unless Sunni, Shia, Kurd made different decisions, then we were going to have a civil war and we could not stop a civil war simply with more troops."

This has become an Obama meme -- that during the debate over the surge he acknowledged that more US troops would mean a temporary reduction in violence.

The internet has been full of differing opinions on what really happened, and Obama and his sycophants have flip flopped in their usual fashion. Former CSM of Landstuhl on Obama [Gregory S. McNeal]

The former Command Sergeant Major of Landstuhl from 2003 to 2005 released this statement today regarding Senator Obama's decision to not visit wounded soldiers in Landstuhl:

Having spent two years as the Command Sergeant Major at Landstuhl Hospital, I am always grateful for the attention that facility receives from members of Congress. There is no more important work done by the United States Army than to care for those who have been wounded in the service [of] our country. While Americans troops remain engaged in two hot wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, there is a steady stream of casualties to the hospital, and a steady stream of visitors who wish to meet with those troops and thank them for their service.

Senator Obama has explained his decision to cancel a scheduled visit there by blaming the military, which would not allow one of his political advisers to join him in a tour of the facility. Why Senator Obama felt he needed an adviser with him to visit U.S. troops is unclear, but if Senator Obama isn't comfortable meeting wounded American troops without his entourage, perhaps he does not have the experience necessary to serve as commander in chief.

MYTH: The security gains seen in Anbar Province and Iraq as a whole are not because of the surge.

Liberal Washington Post Columnist, Richard Cohen, Asks 'What Has Barack Obama Done' That Is Admirable?

Richard Cohen, never known as a conservative or conservative leaning writer is taking some harsh criticisms for asking the question that many of us has asked time and time again.

What has Barack Obama actually done?

"Just tell me one thing Barack Obama has done that you admire," I asked a prominent Democrat. He paused and then said that he admired Obama's speech to the Democratic convention in 2004. I agreed. It was a hell of a speech, but it was just a speech.

On the other hand, I continued, I could cite four or five actions -- not speeches -- that John McCain has taken that elicit my admiration, even my awe. First, of course, is his decision as a Vietnam prisoner of war to refuse freedom out of concern that he would be exploited for propaganda purposes. To paraphrase what Kipling said about Gunga Din, John McCain is a better man than most.

But I would not stop there. I would include campaign finance reform, which infuriated so many in his own party; opposition to earmarks, which won him no friends; his politically imprudent opposition to the Medicare prescription drug bill (Medicare has about $35 trillion in unfunded obligations); and, last but not least, his very early call for additional troops in Iraq. His was a lonely position -- virtually suicidal for an all-but-certain presidential candidate and no help when his campaign nearly expired last summer. In all these cases, McCain stuck to his guns.

He ends by saying, "The question I posed to that prominent Democrat was just my way of thinking out loud. I know that Barack Obama is a near-perfect political package. I'm still not sure, though, what's in it."

You truly need to read everything in between the portions I quoted to get a feel for Cohen's piece, but finally liberal writers, at least one brave one by the name of Richard Cohen, has dared asked the relevant question.

I would certainly hate to be the one opening his emails today because he has liberals howling over the audacity of his question and declaring he has gone to the dark side. Others think Obama's "plans" and rhetoric counts as accomplishments. Never mind that many of his "plans" change on a dime depending on what audience he is talking to or when the issues actually come up for a vote. Never mind that his "plans" haven't come to pass and are just words. To them, his words, his "message" is enough, who needs actual accomplishments????

Pffffft... We don't need no stinking accomplishments to admire Obama!!!

How dare a writer for the MSM ask about Obama's admirable accomplishments....not speeches, not being against the war when he was a "mere Illinois state senator, representing the (very) liberal Hyde Park area", not his paper ideas, not his biographical books, but instead what true accomplishments has Obama produced for this country?

Earthquake Hits Los Angeles- Update: 5.8 in Magnitude

Breaking on the news right now it is being announced that Los Angeles has just suffered an earthquake. No aftershocks reported yet, but the news is reporting they are expected. I will link to the stories as they come out but the quakes is reported to have been a major seismic event.

11:48 Pacific time a 5.8 earthquake hit California. It was was felt from Los Angeles to San Diego with slight tremors felt all the way to Las Vegas.

[Update #1] U.S. Geological Survey estimates the quake was a magnitude 5.8, centered 29 miles east-southeast of downtown Los Angeles near Chino Hills in San Bernardino County.

[Update #2] CNN is reporting that the epicenter was 2 miles southwest of Chino Hills and approximately 5 miles southeast of Diamond Bar. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.8 earthquake is considered moderate.

Initial reports show no major damage.

The fire chief is speaking on the news and reporting no injuries or damages as of yet.

Authorities are asking that people avoid using their cell phones unless absolutely necessary.

Sen. Stevens' Indicted by the Department of Justice

The Department of Justice is about to announce indictments against republican Senator Ted Stevens from Alaska. In 2007 Stevens' home was raided for information in connection to Bill Allen an oil field services contractor. Bill Allen was convicted in a state corruptions case back in 2000. Mr. Allen, the CEO of VECO, was contracted to oversee construction on renovations to Stevens' home. Stevens' is currently being investigated for his many earmarks, some of which have benefitted VECO. One of Steven's most famous earmarks is the bridge to nowhere.

The Federal Grand Jury charged Senator Stevens with seven felony counts of making false statements. Charges relate to Financial Disclosure forms required to be filed by the Senator on a yearly basis. The indictment alleges that the Senator falsified information on the Financial Disclosure forms. The disclosure monitors and deters conflicts of interest for public officials. The Senator must disclose receipt of gifts from any single source and any liability or debt owed over 10k and who debt was owed too.

While as senator 1999-2006 Sen. Stevens accepted gifts from VECO and CEO Bill Allen. Gifts of material and labor for renovation of private residents includes a new 1st floor and finished full basement. VECO contractors and employees provided most of the labor and design. Other gifts include household goods, furniture, automobile exchange, and other gifts totaling $250,000. During the period of receiving these gifts federal investigators allege that VECO solicited Stevens for certain benefits.

According to FoxNews.com:

Allen and other VECO employees were soliciting Stevens for "multiple official actions .... knowing that Stevens could and did use his official position and his office on behalf of VECO during that same time period." VECO's requests included funding and other aid for the oil services company's projects and partnerships in Pakistan and Russia. It also included federal grants from several agencies — as well as help in building a national gas pipeline in Alaska's North Slope Region, according to the indictment filed in U.S. District Court in Washington.

Senator Stevens is innocent till proven guilty in a court of law. He is expected to turn himself in either in Washington or Alaska.

Barack's Busted Berlin Bounce

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Tuesday shows that Barack Obama’s Berlin bounce is gone.

Following up on the news yesterday that in the USA TODAY/Gallup Poll John McCain took a 4 percent lead over Barack Obama among likely voters, we see today that Rasmussen is showing the Berlin Bounce is gone and the race is tight as ever, with Obama's two point lead (One point when leaners are added) being within the margin of error.

Obama now attracts 44% of the vote while John McCain earns 42%. When "leaners" are included, it’s Obama 47% and McCain 46%.

Heading over to the results from Gallup, we also see that Obama's overseas trip might have actually given Republicans more energy and enthusiasm for John McCain, despite the overwhelming coverage that Obama received.

Could John McCain benefit from Barack Obama's much-publicized foreign trip? Several observations from the just-completed USA Today/Gallup poll suggest that this is a possibility.

While interest in Obama seems to have peaked months ago and the expected bounce after Hillary Clinton suspended her campaign never materialized and now the expected bounce from Obamas trip hasn't materialized for more than three days and is now gone added to the fact that Republicans are just becoming more energized and showing more excitement for John McCain, all suggest that the race that 2 years ago the Democrats considered a slam dunk, is now so tight they cannot even be assured they will win.

Interestingly enough, the Center for Media and Public Affairs at George Mason University found in their research that while Barack Obama did receive more coverage, the coverage regarding him was more negative than John McCain received.

During the evening news, the majority of statements from reporters and anchors on all three networks are neutral, the center found. And when network news people ventured opinions in recent weeks, 28% of the statements were positive for Obama and 72% negative.

Network reporting also tilted against McCain, but far less dramatically, with 43% of the statements positive and 57% negative, according to the Washington-based media center.

Conservatives have been snarling about the grotesque disparity revealed by another study, the online Tyndall Report, which showed Obama receiving more than twice as much network air time as McCain in the last month and a half. Obama got 166 minutes of coverage in the seven weeks after the end of the primary season, compared with 67 minutes for McCain, according to longtime network-news observer Andrew Tyndall.

Barack Obama, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi- All Against Offshore Drilling

The other day Wake up America showed poll after poll after poll which all reported that the American people are ready for Congress to join the president, who lifted the presidential ban on offshore drilling, to lift the Congressional ban.

Nancy Pelosi has refused to do so in the House, she has even cut off all discussion.

Harry Reid has tried every parliamentary maneuver possible and has failed to get anything done because the Republicans, backed by the American people want the debate on offshore drilling opened and the ban lifted.

Barack Obama, presumptive Democratic candidate and U.S. Senator also favors obstructing the overwhelming majority of American likely voters by his resistance to offshore drilling.

Even some House and Senate Democrats understand the need for not only short term solutions but to begin long term thinking about lessening Americas dependence on foreign oil.

Gas prices rise, food and all associated areas are seeing a rise in prices because of it and still the Democrats are refusing to acknowledge that in the long term, drilling is one of the options that will help.

Republicans are finally going to do what they should have done long ago.

Show the American public that Barack Obama is one of the Democrats, along with Reid and Pelosi, that is blocking what the majority of Americans want.

Why has it taken the Republicans this long to understand that connecting Reid, Pelosi and Obama is not only important, but it is only pointing out the obvious.

Barack Obama returns to Capitol Hill on Tuesday to speak with House Democrats, and Republicans will try to spoil the party by linking the Democrats’ presidential nominee to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and their reluctance to allow votes on offshore oil drilling.

Rep. Adam Putnam (R-Fla.) and Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) will greet Obama’s arrival with a news conference in which they’ll assert that Reid (D-Nev.) and Pelosi (D-Calif.) are holding up votes on offshore drilling in order to protect Obama.

They’ll also begin to use “Pelosi-Reid-Obama” in the all-in-the-same-breath way that Democrats now use “Bush-McCain” — to make the parties’ popular candidates indistinguishable from their less beloved incumbents.

He is a Democrat. He is being protected by Reid and Pelosi. He is one of the people standing in the way of one of the long term solutions available.

This Democratically controlled Congress has hit the lowest point in public confidence ratings and Obama is undeniably one of the Democrats that are the problem.

In November Americans will still be going to the gas pumps and pumping their gas, looking at the total and cringing as they have to pay and the Republicans need to pound home the message, clearly, that Reid, Pelosi and Obama are all standing in the way of providing a long term solution.

No one believes that gas prices will instantly drop. It will take years, but for every day, every month and every year the Democrats like Reid, Pelosi and Obama stand in the way of lifting the congressional ban and having companies start the process, that is one more day, month and year that Americans will have to wait to get to the point where they can see the results at the pump.

This should be a point that Republicans need to pound home at every given opportunity.

USA TODAY/Gallup Poll Shows McCain Ahead Of Obama By Four Points Among 'Likely Voters'

It is one poll but in conjunction with others showing that Obama is ticking down some, right after his week long trek across the world which everyone thought would give him some "bounce", the numbers should start worrying the Democrats.

Republican presidential candidate John McCain moved from being behind by 6 points among "likely" voters a month ago to a 4-point lead over Democrat Barack Obama among that group in the latest USA TODAY/Gallup Poll. McCain still trails slightly among the broader universe of "registered" voters. By both measures, the race is tight.

The Friday-Sunday poll, mostly conducted as Obama was returning from his much-publicized overseas trip and released just this hour, shows McCain now ahead 49%-45% among voters that Gallup believes are most likely to go to the polls in November. In late June, he was behind among likely voters, 50%-44%.

The new RCP National Average has Obama's lead over McCain dipping to 3.2 percent and Obama has lost a little in both the Rasmussen and Gallup polls.

A website was launched today which exposes a large number of litigation expanding provisions that have been slipped into legislation in U.S. Congressional bills.

Earmarks are funds provided by the Congress for projects or programs where the congressional direction (in bill or report language) circumvents the merit-based or competitive allocation process, or specifies the location or recipient, or otherwise curtails the ability of the Executive Branch to properly manage funds. Congress includes earmarks in appropriation bills - the annual spending bills that Congress enacts to allocate discretionary spending - and also in authorization bills.

Anti-protective orders, expansion of consumer related lawsuits, expansion of medical malpractice lawsuits, expansion of environmental lawsuits, tax break lawsuits, broadening maritime lawsuits and the list goes on and on of earmarks hidden away into congressional bills that are in the U.S. House right now.

The website was launched by U.S. Chamber Institute for Legal Reform (ILR) and it is called Trial Lawyer Earmarks. This site exposes dozens of earmarks all geared toward enhancing the ability to sue.

ILR seeks to promote civil justice reform through legislative, political, judicial, and educational activities at the national, state, and local levels. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world's largest business federation, representing more than 3 million businesses and organizations of every size, sector, and region.

When opening the site and clicking on the words "see the earmarks" it automatically shows the trial lawyer earmarks that are in bills that are being considered in the U.S. Congress.

By clicking a specific earmark, it then shows what bill the earmark has been inserted into and what the earmark would accomplish. Those listed on this site all pertain to trial lawyers and their ability to expand litigation.

The site, as of now, shows 48 trial lawyer provisions currently pending in the 110th Congress that they are monitoring.

According to ILR President Lisa A. Rickard, "The plaintiffs' trial bar has found a pastime almost as enjoyable as filing lawsuits: convincing Congress to pass legislation allowing them to file more lawsuits. This legislative session, they have tucked trial lawyer 'earmarks' -- vehicles giving them greater opportunity to sue -- into a large number of bills now before Congress."

According to Rickard, the U.S. lawsuit system already costs the average American family $3,200 every year and she concludes by stating, "The deep pockets of the plaintiffs' trial bar have persuaded some members of Congress that America needs more lawsuits. In addition to fighting back against each individual earmark, we must also uproot the trial bar's stranglehold on this Congress in order to protect American businesses and families from the costs of more lawsuits."

These liability expanding earmarks are hidden in homeland security bills, farm bills, FDA reauthorization and telecom legislation, just to name a few.

Additionally, there are tax breaks that apply only to to trial lawyers inserted into tax and mortgage relief bills.

One specific example from the press release from PRNewswire for Journalists, states "Most notably, this includes a provision in the Renewable Energy and Job Creation Act of 2008 (H.R. 6049), which would grant a $1.6 billion tax break to trial lawyers by changing the rules on how expenses incurred during the representation of a contingency fee client are deducted."

Company Mistakenly Puts Photo Of Larry Craig On Political Button With Barack Obama

Tigereye Design, located in Ohio, creates buttons and they mistakenly created a political button meant to show Barack Obama for president and Larry LaRocco for the U.S. Senate. They got the name right, but they put Larry Craig's photo above the name.

Tigereye and the case of the two Idaho Larrys.

Larry Craig is Republican Senator that made headlines last Summer after he was arrested and plead guilty to disorderly conducted after he was accused of soliciting sex by peering through a crack in a bathroom stall door and made gestures suggesting to the arresting officer he wanted to engage in "lewd conduct."

Larry LaRocco is a Democrat who will be going up against Lt. Governor Jim Risch, in the upcoming Idaho Senate election.

Tigereye Design has stopped selling the button since some collectors that bought them noticed the mistake, but some are getting a little amusement that not only the design company managed to pick the wrong Larry from photo files but that they actually used a Senator not running for reelection as well as using the photo of an Republican party member on the same button as the presumptive Democratic nominee.

Wisconsin Democratic Party Dumps Clinton Delegate For Refusing To Support Barack Obama

[Update] Video added below the post of Debra Bartoshevich saying she is finished with the Democratic party.

Background.

In early June a Wisconsin Democratic delegate, Debra Bartoshevich, that was to be seated at the Democratic convention in August, stunned her party by announcing that she would vote for John McCain rather than cast her vote for Barack Obama.

She cited Obama's lack of experience and his judgment and says, "I will not be voting for Obama. I will cast my vote for John McCain." She continues on to say, "I just feel you need to have somebody who has experience with foreign matters.”

Bartoshevich stated examples of what she considers Barack Obama's bad judgment to include but says it is not limited to Jeremiah Wright, who was Barack Obama's pastor of over 16 years that has come under fire recently for his controversial statements that some categorize as racists as well as his "God Damn America" rant that went viral as a YouTube video.

She also named Tony Rezko, a close associate of Barack Obama who was just convicted on several counts of fraud and bribery.

Bartoshevich says she has been a devoted Democrat that has never before voted for a Republican for president and she quotes Susan B Anthony, saying, "No self-respecting woman should wish or work for the success of a party that ignores her — that’s by Susan B. Anthony."

She concluded by stating, ""The Democrats jumped on this wagon of Barack Obama, and nobody really knows him.”

When first presented with the news, chairman of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, Joe Wineke, expressed disbelief but stated that after checking the rules, he "assumed" Bartoshevich would remain a delegate.

He changed his tune soon enough though when Wisconsin Democratic Party convention members offered a resolution to make sure that Bartoshevich will not be seated at the convention.

They then filed a formal credentials challenge against Bartoshevich, which accused her of the following:

• Violated party rules in expressing support for the other party’s presumptive nominee.

• Violated party rules requiring that delegates be “bona fide Democrats who are faithful to the interests, welfare and success of the Democratic Party of the United States.”

• Failed to honor a pledge that delegates sign stating their intent to vote for the party’s presidential ticket in the fall.

The challenge also states that the "Democratic Party of Wisconsin and its members have been embarrassed in the local and national media by the decision of Ms. Bartoshevich to endorse Senator McCain.”

Today we see, via LA Times' Top of the Ticket that the state state party voted to dump Bartoshevich, in a vote of 23-0 and to bar her from attending the Democratic National Convention in Denver.

Before the committee took the vote, Bartoshevich participated in a teleconference with them where she asked to be allowed to attend the convention and cast her vote for Clinton, whom she has supported throughout the campaign,

She informed them that she has donated her time and her money to Clinton and she still believed that Clinton was the best candidate. She then told them that she hadn't officially decided whom to support and that she wanted to attend the convention and listen, that perhaps Obama could win her over.

The discussion also included Bartoshevich telling the committee that her sister, a McCain supporter, had signed her up for the Citizens For McCain website, to which one committee member, Dottie LeClaire, responded "You reached right back and hugged them. I have a problem with that."

Gunman Opens Fire At Church In Knoxville

Two dead and seven injured at the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church Sunday after a gunman walked in with a shotgun and opened fire on the attendees.

60 year-old Greg McKendry died after confronting the gunman when he entered the church and 61 year-old Linda Kraeger died last night at the University of Tennessee Medical Center.

Seven other people were injured, two released after treatment and five remain in the hospital in critical or serious condition.

The police have arrested Jim D. Adkisson, 58 years old and charged him with first-degree murder in the death of McKendry with further charges expected.

The attack occurred while those gathered in the church were watching children sing on stage as they put on a production of "Annie" for the congregation.

WBIR has a time line of events.

Elrod from the Moderate Voice is a member of the church who was not in attendance but he says, "I don’t understand why anybody would do this. All we know right now is that the suspect was not connected to the church in any way. I have no idea if the man had some sort of political or cultural agenda (TVUUC had just put up a sign welcoming gays to the congregation), or if it’s just some lunatic acting for no reason at all.

Please keep the members our church community in your thoughts and prayers today. This is such a shock to our congregation and our community as a whole."

According to Out and About Newspaper, the police found a multi-page, handwritten letter in the suspect's vehicle, but no motive has been publicly announced as of yet.

Mea Culpa

The s*** is hitting the fan about an email posted all over the blogosphere about the veracity of a GI who gave a 'first person' account of part of Barak Obama's "fact finding" tour last week. I chose to post the GI's words here after I came across it on another milblog. My first inkling that all was not as it appeared - gasp! - came in the form of a comment to me from a Vietnam veteran friend.

I went back to my original source, and find that, in fact, the GI is recanting some of his words. Curiouser and curiouser, even though some of the information in the original email was retracted, there appears to some interesting choice of photo images. From Blackfive:

That would debunk this whole notion that he didn't talk to the troops at Bagram, wouldn't it? At that Army Times post, part of their evidence is a photo of Senator Obama talking to troops at Bagram - the caption states "Presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama speaks to troops at Bagram Air Field on July 19.". Here's the AP photo on the Army Times site: AP Photo Just one minor problem here - that's not Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan. THAT'S CAMP ARIFJAN, KUWAIT.

Officer: Part of anti-Obama e-mail was wrong By Matthew Cox and Rick Maze - Staff writers Posted : Sunday Jul 27, 2008 10:04:27 EDT An Army officer’s negative e-mail account of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama’s visit with the troops in Afghanistan that set the blogosphere ablaze prompted Army officials to correct aspects of the e-mail and resulted in a statement from the message’s author that “some of the information that was put out in my e-mail was wrong.” (source)

In that interview, the original writer of the email says:

“I am writing this to ask that you delete my e-mail and not forward it, after checking my sources some of the information that was put out in my e-mail was wrong. This e-mail was meant only for my family. Please respect my wishes and delete the e-mail and if there are any blogs you have my e-mail portrayed on I would ask if you would take it down too.”

I have removed this original post as per this soldier's request. Yes, of course, this whole incident does raise questions about the integrity of us bloggers who rushed to print. In this instance, I am as guilty as much of the msm who I have always been quick to accuse of apparent bias. BUT - as anyone who knows me will tell - if the main player in this whole trip had been McCain, or anyone else, with the same email sent out, I would have printed it. I like to think that my political opinions do not get in the way of even-handed presentation of the facts. In this case, I did print something that the source later retracted. And yes, unlike the msm, I am printing MY apology on the "front page," not page G36.

I am guessing that this GI has now learned what many of us have been aware of for a loooooong time. Once anything goes out on the internet, the original author loses control of it.

It is often said that in times of war, truth is the first victim. This episode has reminded me of the need for vigilance in the pursuit of that truth.

WASHINGTON, July 15, 2008 – A Defense Department DNA identification lab has helped bring to a close a near-century-old mystery, laying to rest a search for the remains of two children executed alongside the rest of the family of Russia’s last czar. Rumors circulated of survivors of the execution. Hundreds came forward over time claiming to be a surviving member of the royal family. The most prominent was Anna Anderson in 1920, who claimed to be the czar's youngest daughter, Anastasia. More than a decade ago, the Russian government asked the Armed Forces DNA Identification Lab in Rockville, Md., to use its cutting-edge technology in DNA testing to help confirm the identify the royal family’s remains after a mass grave was discovered. The lab positively identified the remains of the czar, his wife and three daughters, and later disproved Anderson’s claims of royal heritage....

Google Street Views Tread On Private Property Again

Google Street View offers an up close and personal view of anyplace their cameras, mounted on cars, photographs, but some are becoming concerned after noticing that Google entered private property to obtain images, then put them on the Internet.

Google Street View can be accessed by going to www.google.com, clicking the "maps" tab, then clicking the "street view" tab and you can drag the little man to anywhere on the map highlighted in blue and get an up close and personal view of the images.

As one can see from the video above , Google has overstepped by driving their camera mounted car onto private property that was clearly marked as such with a sign, and filming private homes.

This is causing concern for privacy proponents about how many other times Google has done this.

After dealing with prior criticisms over their Street View, Google did implement technology that would blur faces and license plate numbers but as shown in the video, the other concerns are still being spoken about.

The Press Democrat spoke to one woman, who lives on the private property that Google invaded for their images, Ms. Janet Tobin and she states, "I like my privacy, and this feels like an invasion of that. My friends already know how to get here. I don't need the whole world coming to my door."

This is not the first time this has happened as evidenced by Aaron and Christine Boring, who initiated a lawsuit against Google last April after having done the same thing and posting their home's photos to which they claimed was an invasion of privacy, devalued their property and caused them mental suffering.

Google removed them, but once online, the proverbial genie is out of the bottle and cannot be put back as other sites download, then publish those images on other websites..

At the time Google claimed that there were tools on their site that the Borings could have utilized to have those images removed but the Boring's attorney, Dennis Moskal, said that wasn't the point. The point according to Moskal was that the Google team had driven onto private property therefore invading their privacy.

Now Google is in the news again for the same problem, but this does only mark the second time that has been discovered and according to Kurt Opsahl who is the senior staff attorney for the Electronic Frontier Foundation, if these two incidents are isolated events it is not overly troublesome. He goes on to state, "But if this is only the tip of the iceberg, then with each additional incident it becomes more troubling."

According to Google, their policy is to gather photos of public roads and they assert they will take down images that were taken on private property.

This begs the question of whether those images taken on private property should have been taken in the first place?

Democrats Go Against Public Opinion By Blocking Offshore Drilling Proposals

As gas prices rise, the topic of offshore drilling is rapidly becoming an issue going into the November elections. John McCain has recently come out in support of offshore drilling and Barack Obama is against it. Public opinion is favoring McCain's stance

Gas prices have soared over the last year and as the totals at the pump become apparent to the voting public, their opinion about offshore drilling has shown that the majority, in a variety of recent polls, want Congress to lift their ban on offshore drilling.

Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi and the Senate Majority leader Harry Reid have been refusing to allow bills that pertain to the issue to come up, which has caused gridlock in the Senate as Republicans fight to have amendments dealing with the issue, be heard.

Republicans, for the most part, have united behind McCain regarding offshore drilling and some blue dog democrats, have indicated that will vote for it as well, which spawned reports that Pelosi was facing a "rank and file" threat.

This forces Pelosi and Reid to use procedural maneuvers to stop the issue from coming to a vote.

This puts them smack dab against the rising numbers and the majority of Americans that are ready for the ban against offshore drilling that has been in place since 1981, to be lifted.

Starting with the June 19, 2008 Rasmussen poll, it shows that 62 percent of Americans agree that offshore drilling should be allowed, with only 27 percent not agreeing.

Zogby International's numbers, taken seven days later, show an even larger majority (74 percent) support offshore drilling.

That includes 90 percent of Republicans and 75 percent of Independents and among Democrats, the majority with 58 percent support offshore drilling.

A vast majority of likely voters, across the political spectrum are in support of offshore drilling, which pits the Democratic leadership against the will of the people.

In a recent CNN poll a plurality (49 percent) said that the environment was more important than the economy, yet in that same poll 73 percent of those surveyed said they favor increased offshore drilling for oil and natural gas.

A polling organization that have done the numbers for Florida states have also come up with a majority showing a preference for offshore drilling, even in their own state.

The InsiderAdvantage/Poll Position asked Florida voters, "Do you favor or oppose increased exploration and production of oil and natural gas off the coasts of Florida?"

61 percent were in favor of exploring the coast of Florida for oil and natural gas.

President George Bush has stepped up the pressure on Congress by lifting the presidential ban on offshore drilling and called on Congress to lift theirs.

John McCain and many Republicans, seeing the concern of citizens and a politically winning issue, have done half of a flip flop on the issue. I say half because McCain is against the majority that believe that ANWAR should also be explored, but with the rising costs of gas, food and inflation in all areas connected with the cost of gas, rank and file Republicans united behind McCain on this issue.



Blue dog Democrats aka Democratic Blue Dog Coalition are Democratic politicians who do not always vote according to party line, but instead try for a more centrist position and they are the threat to the Democratic leadership of the House and Senate because they are increasingly starting to support offshore drilling.

This not only pits Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid against the the will of the people, but also is causing tension within the Democratic party.

To overcome the Democratic leaderships refusal to bring the offshore drilling bills up for a vote, the Republicans are countering that by using their own procedural motions to see to it that no bill will come up until Congress and the Senate allow debate and vote on their amendments for offshore drilling.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) states, "We think there is nothing more important that we can do right now than to deal with the Number One issue of the country. This is the biggest issue since terrorism right after 9/11. People are pounding on their desks, saying, Why don’t these people get together and do something about this problem?”

The battle in the House has been intense as Pelosi has failed to get the two-thirds majority needed to pass Democratic bills under a suspension of the rules, which limits debate on the issue and prevents Republicans from offering drilling amendments.

Republicans blasted House Speaker Nancy Pelosi from bringing up the bill under regular order, where a simple majority would have been required to pass the bills, but Republicans would have been able to offer amendments calling for increased domestic drilling.

Boehner says of the Democrats, "They're hiding from a vote. They're scared to death to allow us to ... force their members to vote on drilling."

On the other side of the aisle Democratic Representative Ed Markey says, "Republicans are holding the SPRO hostage. They are not going to allow [any oil] to be released until they get everything they want. And that is a very sad state of affairs."


The tensions are also rising in the Senate and it was reported last week that Harry Reid lashed out at the media saying the medias reports on the state of the Senate's energy fight had been improperly relayed to the public and accused them of only reporting what the Republicans were saying and suggested to the reporters gathered that they should start watching the Senate proceedings.

When a reporter pointed out that she had been watching the Senate proceedings and still could not fathom what Reid was offering Republicans by way of amendments, Reid replied, "Turn up your hearing aid. It was clear for those of us who understand English."

The Politico reports that even Democratic aides are admitting that Harry Reid is "bitter".

Reid has also taken to asking liberal bloggers to help him get his message out.

With the November presidential election just months away, politically the Republicans see this as a winning issue with House Minority Leader John Boehner, (R-OH.) stating, "I've never seen the American people as energized about an issue in my 18 years in Congress."

With the recent polling data showing that an overwhelming majority of Americans are stepping up and stating they are in support of offshore drilling, this seems to be putting the Democratic leadership in the minority by blocking amendments and votes regarding this issue.

John McCain Lays Into Barack Obama Over Troop Visit

In the hardest hitting campaign ad yet, the McCain campaign lays into Barack Obama for having time to speak to the German public in Berlin, having time to go to the gym to work out but canceling a visit to the troops in Germany because he wasn't allowed to bring his entourage.

Announcer: Barack Obama never held a single Senate hearing on Afghanistan.

He hadn’t been to Iraq in years.

He voted against funding our troops.

And now, he made time to go to the gym, but cancelled a visit with wounded troops.

Seems the Pentagon wouldn’t allow him to bring cameras.

John McCain is always there for our troops.

McCain. Country first.

John McCain: I’m John McCain and I approve this message.

The 30-second ad will run during "Saturday Night Live" in Denver. It will also run in Colorado which is an important swing state for the upcoming election, Then it will air in the Washington DC, and in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, another key swing state.

McCain has also gone on ABC News' George Stephanopoulos show, This Week, and said, "If I had been told by the Pentagon that I couldn’t visit those troops, and I was there and wanted to be there, I guarantee you, there would have been a seismic event."

Obama's campaign reportedly cancelled the trip because Pentagon officials told the senator he could not make the visit accompanied by his campaign staff and because of concerns that the visit would be viewed as politically motivated.

But McCain questioned his rival's justification: "I know of no Pentagon regulation that would have prevented him from going there -- without the media and the press and all of the associated people. Nothing that I know of would have kept him from visiting those wounded troops."

McCain went on to note that "in Landstuhl, Germany, when I went through, I visited the hospital. ... I think people make a judgment by what we do and what we don’t do. He certainly found time to do other things."

Of course the Obama campaign has also changed their reasoning, publicly on why he didn't visit the troops.

1. Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs “said the stop was canceled because Obama decided ‘it would be inappropriate to make a stop to visit troops at a U.S. military facility as part of a trip funded by the campaign.’” (AP)

2. An Obama campaign adviser “said the U.S. military saw the visit as a campaign stop. ‘We learned from the Pentagon last night that the visit would be viewed instead as a campaign event,’ the adviser, retired Air Force Maj. Gen. Scott Gration, said in a statement.” (AP)

3. David Axelrod “said that that Pentagon notified an Obama military advisor only yesterday or the day before that he should not come. The Pentagon ‘viewed this as a campaign event and therefore they said he should not come’” (Chicago Sun-Times)

4. A military official working on the Obama visit “said because political candidates are prohibited from using military installations as campaign backdrops, Obama's representatives were told, ‘he could only bring two or three of his Senate staff member, no campaign officials or workers.’ In addition, ‘Obama could not bring any media. Only military photographers would be permitted to record Obama's visit.’ The official said ‘We didn't know why’ the request to visit the wounded troops was withdrawn. ‘He (Obama) was more than welcome. We were all ready for him.’” (NBC)

Despite Obama's constantly changing reasoning, what he isn't "getting" is that people understand that if he had gone and used the troops as photo ops, then he would have been skewered for it.

Nothing prevented him from quietly going in his Senatorial capacity, foregoing the photo ops and the media circus and just visiting the troops.

Nothing.

The claim that it could have been seen as a political prop, or opportunity, could have simply been avoided by bringing no one and just visiting them. Hence, not "seen" but done anyway.

It was a conscious choice not to do so, and his campaign can complain that it shouldn't be used against him, but this is a man that wants to become the commander in chief of our military, yet he could not just go, alone, and visit the wounded troops?

Morrisey also points to Retired Army Lieutenant Colonel, Joe Repya, who speaks eloquently of why breaking his commitment to the troops and not visiting them looked so bad.

“The most solemn duty of a commander in chief is to fulfill his responsibility to the men and women who serve this country in uniform. Barack Obama had scheduled a visit with wounded American troops who have served with honor and distinction in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, but he broke that commitment, instead flitting from one European capital to the next. Several explanations were offered, none was convincing and each was at odds with the statements of American military leaders in Germany and Washington. For a young man so apt at playing president, Barack Obama badly misjudged the important demands of the office he seeks. Visits with world leaders and speeches to cheering Europeans shouldn’t be a substitute for comforting injured American heroes.” Joe Repya, Lieutenant Colonel, US Army (Retired)

He then describes how his heartfelt words are being received by the left.... hate mail.

After the triple road rage murder of three people, it was discovered that the suspect had been shielded by San Francisco's sanctuary city policies as a juvenile felon and previously was protected from deportation.

San Francisco is a sanctuary city that protects illegal aliens from federal law enforcement agencies.

A sanctuary city is a city within the United States of America that protects illegal aliens from federal law enforcement agencies and the term generally is used for cities that do not allow municipal funds or resources to be used to enforce federal immigration laws.

San Francisco is an admitted sanctuary city and reports have shown they actually advertise that status, inviting illegal aliens to their town for protection.

Recently the town made major headlines after it was discovered that the city of San Francisco was protecting illegal immigrant drug dealers and using taxpayers funds to help them escape prosecution.

San Francisco is back in the news again after a triple homicide suspect was found to have been arrested twice as a juvenile but due to San Francisco's sanctuary policy, he was never deported.

Edwin Ramos pleaded not guilty to the road rage murder of Anthony Bologna, and his sons, 20-year-old Michael, and 16-year-old Matthew.

The suspect allegedly took an AK-47 and shot the three after a road incident where accidentally blocked his car in the Excelsior District.

According to investigators, Ramos allegedly belongs to the violent MS-13 gang and just three months before his arrest on these latest charges of murdering the Bologna father and sons, he had a brush with the law and was arrested.

In the previous case Ramos escaped prosecution after a passenger in his car, Erick Lopez, was found to have an illegal firearm and District Attorney Kamala Harris' office determined they did not have evidence to show that Ramos knew that his passenger had the gun in the car.

Police later determined that the gun from that case had been used the day before to kill two men.

Because Ramos was protected when he was a juvenile and not deported when he was convicted of crimes before he turned 21, the sanctuary policy of San Francisco is under fire, as is the Mayor Gavin Newsom, who is a main proponent and the face of the public ad campaign that invited illegal aliens to San Francisco, promising them protection from the federal law.

There is an active campaign underway, calling for the resignation of Newsom and the denial of any federal funds to be given to the city of San Francisco.

Californians for Population Stabilization (CAPS) President Dr. Diana Hull believes that Newsom holds some responsibility for the murder of the Bologna and has written letters to Senators Feinstein, Boxer and Speaker Pelosi, which state, "If local governments will not obey federal law, they should be denied any federal government law enforcement assistance. And, the federal government should prosecute any city officials who fail in that duty. In addition, federal enforcement is spotty and inadequate at best. but recently there has been some beginning attempt to apprehend the worst offenders. "

Hull concludes with, "However, every level of government has a long way to go and lags terribly behind public opinion in matters pertaining to enforcement of immigration law. This triple murder is the worst kind of tragedy and the outrage it will generate may herald some long overdue comprehension by elected officials about the extent of government failure in these matters, at every level, and what must be done about it.”

Lawmakers are weighing in and calling for Newsom's resignation as well as pundits, media and opinion editorials declaring that they believe that Newsom as well as other officials should be held legally responsible for being complicit in the death of the Bologna father and sons.

Representative Tom Tancredo sent a letter Tuesday to U.S. Attorney General Michael Mukasey, stating, "Because San Francisco's political leaders have already demonstrated their willingness to act in flagrant violation of federal law, I do not believe that local judicial institutions can be trusted to fairly try the case or mete out an appropriate punishment."

Newsom's spokesman Nathan Ballard agrees that city officials were wrong to shield undocumented, juvenile felons from federal immigration authorities. he states that "The sanctuary program was never intended to shield felons. The policy was inappropriate."

He then goes to say that Newsom "still supports the worthwhile aims of 'denying the federal government' assistance in deporting otherwise law-abiding undocumented residents."

Ramos is being held without bail on three counts of murder in the deaths of Anthony Bologna, 20-year-old Michael Bologna, and 16-year-old Matthew Bologna.

John McCain Nails Barack Obama In Speech

We both knew the politically safe choice was to support some form of retreat. All the polls said the "surge" was unpopular. Many pundits, experts and policymakers opposed it and advocated withdrawing our troops and accepting the consequences. I chose to support the new counterinsurgency strategy backed by additional troops -- which I had advocated since 2003, after my first trip to Iraq. Many observers said my position would end my hopes of becoming president. I said I would rather lose a campaign than see America lose a war. My choice was not smart politics. It didn't test well in focus groups. It ignored all the polls. It also didn't matter. The country I love had one final chance to succeed in Iraq. The new strategy was it. So I supported it. Today, the effects of the new strategy are obvious. The surge has succeeded, and we are, at long last, finally winning this war.

John McCain said back then that he would rather lose a election than lose the war. he was the chief proponent of the surge that has created such amazing success in the last year. He fought members of his own party, he ignored the polls, he stood up and was very vocal about what he thought it could accomplish and he was proven right as even the Democrats are unable to continue claiming the surge failed.

A surge they fought tooth and nail.

Senator Obama made a different choice. He not only opposed the new strategy, but actually tried to prevent us from implementing it. He didn't just advocate defeat, he tried to legislate it. When his efforts failed, he continued to predict the failure of our troops. As our soldiers and Marines prepared to move into Baghdad neighborhoods and Anbari villages, Senator Obama predicted that their efforts would make the sectarian violence in Iraq worse, not better.

And as our troops took the fight to the enemy, Senator Obama tried to cut off funding for them. He was one of only 14 senators to vote against the emergency funding in May 2007 that supported our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. ...

The bottom line here is John McCain knew what it would take to win and Obama knew what it would take to lose.

Both men fought for their positions and McCain was proven right in a spectacular manner and Obama was proven wrong, time and time again.

Impeach Bush Now!

It is no secret that America's southern border has been widely breached by illegal immigrants (mostly from Mexico) as well as violent criminal parties, some of which are thought to include the illegal immigrants themselves.

The border has become a virtual war zone with America being penetrated by drug traffickers, human traffickers, illegal immigrants, gangs, and potential non-Latino invaders. The lack of concern about the U.S.-Mexico border has become a dangerous past time, with much sand and butts sticking in the air.

One of the major failings of the current government, most notably the Bush Administration, is the invasion of American soil. According to Article 4 Section 4 of the Constitution of the United States:
The United States shall guarantee to every state in this union a republican form of government, and shall protect each of them against invasion; and on application of the legislature, or of the executive (when the legislature cannot be convened) against domestic violence.

With the American borders wide open, and the Border Patrol unable to perform because of lack of support of the legislature as well as the executive branch, how can President Bush say he has exercised his executive obligation to protect the United States against invasion?

Furthermore, the recent killings of the Bologna family by an illegal immigrant alleged to belong to MS13, one of the most violent gangs in America, how can President Bush claim to have protected the states from domestic violence caused by these gangs?

The deaths of children at the hands of the Coyotes, notorious human and drug traffickers, also shows the danger of an open border. The Coyotes sometimes dressed as Mexican military members ( and at time former or corrupt Mexican military members) have started a virtual war on the border resulting in the injury and deaths of American citizens. Recently Coyotes operating in Georgia kidnapped a pair of illegals that hired them to transport the pair to Chatanooga and attempted to blackmail the unnamed illegals' families for $15,000. Clearly even illegal immigrants are in danger because of the open border.

Domestic violence has begun to become more renowned between black American and Latino ( American or Illegal) gangs due to the jobs being usurped by illegal immigrants that typically went to undereducated blacks. The economic vacuum has once again bred violence.

This unnamed war on American sovereignty has cost Americans dearly. According to CIS.org the cost of illegal immigrants is about $2,736 per household. That amounts to $30,916,800,000 (per year). That number is the cost per household which is $2,736 by the number of illegal immigrants estimated in 2007 which is 11.3 million reported illegals. The $30 billion can be slightly lower, but more likely than not higher because the true number of illegal immigrants can not be know as not all are reported. These numbers are only the direct impact of illegal immigrants on services provided through welfare, defense, and the lack of taxes paid. CIS indicates that indirect effects cannot be properly calculated and added to the cost of household per year, for example the inflation of the U.S. dollar due to currency being taken from the economy by illegals sending money home to Mexico. The cost of illegal immigration, is more than the war in Iraq.

President Bush has obviously failed the American people by directly violating Article 4 section 4 of the Constitution. The nation has been put in danger both by physical violence as well as economically, thus I say "Impeach Bush Now!"

Of course that would mean having to acknowledge the illegal immigration problem.

Fox Confirms Portion of National Enquirer Story About John Edwards Meeting Mistress

Fox News has confirmed a portion of the National Enquirer story about John Edwards meeting his mistress at the Beverly Hilton hotel.

Questions were asked about the National Enquirer story which claimed that John Edwards met with his alleged mistress, Rielle Hunter, at the Beverly Hilton hotel, back on July 23, 2008. Today we see that Fox News followed up on those questions and has now spoken to hotel security which is confirming portions of the National Enquirer story.

The original National Enquirer story claimed that the John Edwards visited a hotel that a woman that the National Enquirer has maintained was his mistress was staying at.

The National Enquirer had claimed that they met John Edwards at the hotel that Rielle Hunter was staying at ad that they chased him throughout the hotel and that he hid in the restroom until hotel security escorted him out, preventing National Enquirer reporters from following to photograph and as questions of Jon Edwards.

Fox News has gotten one of those hotel security guards to speak on the record and he confirms that John Edwards was at the hotel and in the restroom while John Edwards was allegedly hiding from reporters.

According to the hotel security guard, he did not immediately recognize John Edwards but he confirm Edwards was there by saying that he intervened between a man he identified as John Edwards and National Enquirer reporters.

The Beverly Hilton Hotel guard said he encountered a shaken and ashen-faced Edwards — whom he did not immediately recognize — in a hotel men's room early Tuesday morning in a literal tug-of-war with reporters on the other side of the door.

"What are they saying about me?" the guard said Edwards asked.

"His face just went totally white," the guard said, when Edwards was told the reporters were shouting out questions about Edwards and Rielle Hunter, a woman the National Enquirer says is the mother of his child.

The security guard goes on to say that the reporters were "rough" on Edwards by sticking cameras in his face and shouting questions at him.

The guard later identified Edwards as the man they helped escort from the restroom by a photo shown to him of Edwards.

After reading that piece from Slate I immediately emailed a LA Times blogger, Andrew Malcolm, that writes for the Top of the Ticket Blog who I often quote in my blog and who quotes me in his, and asked him about the request reported by Slate and the supposed "gag order" from LA Times and his answer was "The short answer is No. As you'll see below, several days ago our site did in fact blog on the Enq story and has been ranked high on Google News much of the time since. So that doesn't look like a gag order to me."

Here was Top of the Ticket's piece about the Edwards story.

The email that Slate quotes has either not been widely distributed or was only sent to specific blogs, because Malcolm's answer to my email shows evidence that there is at least one LA Times blog that no one has attempted to "gag".

Further related news shows that according to the National Enquirer, two reporters from that magazine, Alan Butterfield and Alexander Hitchen, are filing criminal complaints with the with the Beverly Hills Police Department, charging that "hotel security acted unlawfully while the reporters were trying to question the former senator."

For those unaware, the National Enquirer made a splash ealier this week by claiming they had caught John Edwards with Rielle Hunter, whom they claim is Edwards' mistress.

Slate reports today that the LA Times has decided to practice a bit of censorship of their bloggers, by "asking" them not to report about the National Enquirer story, not even to ask legitimate questions about the credibility of the National Enquirer's report.

Many, myself included, have questions about the Enquirers story, including where the photos are and where witness accounts are.

These are questions that the MSM should be asking, which a few are, but the majority are refusing to cover the story at all, to verify or debunk the accuracy of the National Enquirers story.

Now we see that a major media outlet like the LA Times, is trying to limit the amount of exposure to the story, to the point of asking their bloggers to not mention it all, even to question the validity of the accusations against John Edward.

Barack Obama Has Time For Berlin Speech, But Cancels Trip To Meet Troops

[Updated and Bumped] July 25, 2008- The Politico reports that the Pentagon reminded Obama that if he wanted to visit the troops, he could, without his entourage of photographers and reporters...so, no photo op, no media, no visit to the troops.

Chief Pentagon spokesman Geoff Morrell confirmed to Politico that Department of Defense officials cautioned Barack Obama's campaign that his planned visit to wounded American troops in Germany could not be political in nature and that he would be barred from bringing along campaign staff and reporters. He also said that Cindy McCain recently requested to visit sailors aboard the U.S.N.S. Comfort and was denied.

"Sen. Obama is welcome to visit Landstuhl or any military hospital in his official capacity as a United States senator," Morrell said in a brief interview. "But there is a DOD policy which governs campaigning and electioneering at military facilities that would have to be respected if he were to visit. That distinction was relayed and made clear to campaign, and they made a decision on their own based on that guidance."

Morrell, in a subsequent interview, added that military officials told Obama he could only visit the military facility with his Secret Service detail and Senate staff.

"We made it clear to him that campaign staff and press would not be permitted to accompany him," Morrell said of Obama. "We relayed those ground rules. They made a choice based upon the information we relayed to them. It was their choice. We had nothing to do with it."

The other day Brat wrote, here at Wake up America, about Barack Obama snubbing our military in Afghanistan, and today there are reports that while Obama had plenty of time to give his much awaited speech to the people of Germany, he canceled his trip to the Rammstein and Landstuhl US military bases.

Obama has cancelled a planned short visit to the Rammstein and Landstuhl US military bases in the southwest German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. The visits were planned for Friday, yet the a spokesperson for the US military hospital in Landstuhl announced today that "Barack Obama will not be coming to us, I don't know why."

Shortly before that announcement the same spokeswoman had announced a planned visit by Obama.

The Politico points out, this is not good "optics".

The optics here are not good: Obama has time to get in a workout and give a speech to a crowd mostly comprised of Europeans, but can't be bothered to visit American troops wounded in action recovering at a military hospital.

The reasoning from the Obama campaign, via spokesman Robert Gibbs, is "The senator decided out of respect for these servicemen and women that it would be inappropriate to make a stop to visit troops at a U.S. military facility as part of a trip funded by the campaign."

It is also being reported that although Obama's plans are subject to change, he extended his trip to Germany by a couple of hours before heading off to France but not to visit the military bases.

911 Calls Released In Case Of Missing Child Mother Did Not Report For 5 Weeks

The police have released the tapes of 911 calls made to authorities by the grandmother of the missing 2 year-old Caylee Marie Anthony. The child was missing for 5 weeks before it was reported to the police.

In the original article written about this case, early information showed that the grandparents, whom Caylee and her mother lived with, had said that Caylee's mother, Casey, had given them the impression that she was going to work everyday and that Caylee was being cared for by a friend or a nanny.

911 calls recently released show that Cythina Anthony, grandmother to Caylee, said, "No, I'm not giving you another day, I've given you a month."

Casey Anthony claims she dropped her child off at a babysitters, who then absconded with the child, yet the name she gave to authorities was of a woman whom they have spoken to and denies knowing Casey or Caylee.

Casey Anthony is being held on a $500,000 bond while investigators continue to search for the missing child.

At the original bond hearing, the judge was quoted as saying, "You left your 2-year-old child with a person who does not exist at an apartment you cannot identify and you lied to your parents about your child's whereabouts. You cared so little about your child."

The three 911 alls that have been released have been described by some as "chilling" and the first one reported about showed the grandmother, Cynthia, telling the 911 operator:

"I have someone here that needs to be arrested in my home and I have a possibly missing child. I have a 3-year-old that's been missing for a month," a crying Cynthia Anthony tells the dispatcher in the first of two calls to the sheriff's office."

"Have you reported that?" the dispatcher asks Cynthia.

"I'm trying to do that now, ma'am," Cynthia replies.

"What did the person do that you need arrested?" the dispatcher asks.

"My daughter," Cynthia replies. "For stealing an auto and stealing some money."

That call ended and another call was placed by Cynthia to 911, to which she reports Caylee missing, saying "I found out my granddaughter has been taken, she has been missing. My daughter finally admitted that she's been missing. ... My daughter finally admitted that the babysitter stole her. I need to find her."

She goes on to state in that same phone, "There's something wrong. I found my daughter's car today and it smells like there's been a dead body in the damn car."

After Casey's bond hearing, her mother then told reporters that the smell was old rancid pizza with maggots on it, claiming that she wasn't contradicting herself because the pizza had smelled like something died in the car.

In previous reports the investigation had brought authorities to search the backyard of the grandparent's home, to no avail, other reports showed that there was recent work done in that backyard which included a cement slap being laid after the child went missing, but no word on whether that was relevant to the case nor if authorities have looked into it.

According to the arrest affidavit for Casey Anthony, the original charges were neglect of a child, false official statements and obstructing a criminal investigation, although her attorney asserts that Casey has been cooperating with the police, the police contradict that statement.

Let Freedom Ring Puts "Both Ways Barack" On MTV

For the first time in 27 years according to MTV, a political ad will be running on their station, geared toward the youthful watchers of that station.

Let Freedom Ring is a conservative non-profit advocacy group that announced last week that they would be spending several hundred thousands dollars on their own advertising campaign which attacks Barack Obama for taking what it calls, opposing positions on the same issue, which they show via video.

The text of the ad states:

“People are saying that Senator Obama’s recent changes of position have made him a flip-flopper. He’s not! Flip-floppers only hold one position at a time. Senator Obama is different: he holds two positions at the same time. Both ways on banning handguns. Both ways on public campaign financing. And now, both ways on withdrawing from Iraq. He’s ‘Both Ways Barack.’ Worse than a flip-flopper!”

Let Freedom Ring bought advertising for their "Both Ways Barack" on MTV and those ads started airing on Wednesday night, July 23, 2008.

According to the article from MTV the ad will run approximately 100 times between Tuesday and Friday on MTV, VH1, MSNBC, CNN and Fox News, with MTV the one place it started on Wednesday and the others started on Tuesday.

Let Freedom Ring's founder and president, Colin Hanna, these ads are geared to reach a different audience, a younger audience and he states, "If I were to criticize my own buy, I'd say I would like to see more MTV and less Fox News than we wound up buying. We want to go after people who are in the political middle and are not fully committed on this race."

Outside groups, those not directly related to either campaign, have no limit on what they can spend advertising for the candidate of their choice as long as they do not coordinate their ads and efforts with the candidate they are trying to help.

MTV had decided this season to accept political ads for both candidates but ads from independent outside groups would be decided on a case-by-case basis.

The McCain campaign spokesperson said they had no response to the Let Freedom Ring ad and the Obama campaign could not be reached for comment.

The truth will not effect him anymore than the truth effected the outcome of the OJ Simpson trial. We didn't understand it then, but we do now: the trial had nothing to do with truth.

Truth is actually irrelevant here, too. What we are dealing with here is faith. For so many of these self-perceived victims of white racism, Obama will be their champion, and they have faith in their champion, almost a religious faith, and that kind of faith is immune to truth and unmoved by reason.

It is time for change. It is OUR time now. This is their mantra, this is the banner behind which they are rallying. But, all one has to do is watch this pernicious video to realize that there is another force at work here. A dark, clandestine force much more dangerous and powerful than any combination of racial resentments or cultural envy. It is that same dark force that has been working against the Western World of light and reason for fourteen hundred years, our historically relentless and malicious foe: Islam.

Whether Barack Hussein Obama is himself actually a Muslim, or whether he is a Muslim sympathizer is completely irrelevant. Either way we lose.

We are at war with the Muslims. Consider this statement carefully. I know how controversial this statement is, how open to debate this whole touchy subject is, but -- and this is extremely important -- it is only a controversial question for us here in the West. There is little controversy about the nature of this war within Islam itself. Read their own words. They are crystal clear in their characterization of this war: it is a war between Islam and the infidel. Not between Islam and some infidels, not between Islam and America, or between Islam and Bush, but simply war between Islam and the infidels. And who are these infidels?

How many times must we read these open declarations of intent in the enemies own words before we begin to accept their import? No matter how hard we might try to avoid this uncomfortable truth, it remains untouched by our futile and cowardly rationalizations.

Our enemies are ruthless and cynical and manipulative. No other American presidential candidate in history has ever garnered such international adoration. No, not even JFK.

At one point During World War Two, Adolf Hitler found it expedient to make common cause with people who, according to the unequivocal laws of Aryan Supremacy, upon which the Third Reich was founded, were to be considered Untermenschen, not really full-fledged human beings, inferiors who were to be subjagated or just exteriminated. But, because it served his immediate needs, Eastern Europeans, Slavs, even Arabs, because of their common hatred of the Jews, were admitted into the Nazi fold. However, if anyone for one moment actually believes that, if Hitler had won the war, these supposedly inferior races, whom he had, by force of circumstance, made temporary common cause with, would have survived to celebrate their victories, then they don't know much about Nazis.

And if anyone actually believes that, if this ruthless and virulently racist form of Arabic Islam were ever to take the reins of power in this country, these eager black activist recruits wold survive to celebrate their victories, then they don't know much about Islam.

Our Islamic enemies have ingeniously and successfully redefined this war, their war. Rather than calling it what it most assuredly is, a war between Islam and the infidel, they have reshaped it into a courageous battle between the oppressed peoples of this country and this world against all of their supposed oppressors. And, God help us, it's working. People are lining up behind this enormous wanton lie in droves, they are committing themselves body and soul to this seemingly obvious righteous cause. It is their time now, they say. And he is to be their salvation and their hope. And nothing we can say about him will ever change that; because we are the enemy and we are not to be believed. But he, Barack Hussein Obama, is one of them, and he is to be believed. He is to be trusted.

No enemy of this nation has ever made greater inroads into our system and our culture. No other enemy has ever become so malignantly infested into our body politic. No other enemy has ever been so eagerly welcomed or awaited by their intended victims. They are already halfway there, my friends. All they need is for their Manchurian Candidate to take the oath of office and they will have won. And we will have lost. Make no mistake about it, we will have lost our nation. And, what is worse, we will have willingly voted it away.

Do I really believe all this? Am I just getting carried away with my own little conspiracy theories? Could Barack Obama actually be a Muslim Manchurian Candidate about to take over America? Would things really change that much? After his election would the mosques start rising? Would we begin to start accepting sharia laws into our legal system? Would criticizing Islam or Muslims become a Federal Hate Crime? Has it become this already? Are we already halfway there?

My answer to these questions is simple. Watch the video. Make up your own mind. Listen to the message behind the message.

Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I'm the bumbling amateur here. Maybe I'm just a xenophobic old racist. I'm sure someone will make that suggestion. Maybe this whole idea about Barack Hussein Obama being some kind of a Muslim Manchurian Candidate is utter nonsense.

But, then again, I'm not willing to take that chance. Not with my children's lives. Not with America.

Here's another email about Senator Obama's visit to a base in a combat zone from an impeccable source - the first to paragraphs are redacted to protect the author (a 23 year vet of more than one branch of the military):

This oped is of course subjective and limited, but I will try to present the facts as I saw them. I wasn't able to see much, which makes a point all by itself.

When his plane arrived (also containing Senators Reed and Hagel, but the news has hardly mentioned them), there was a "ramp freeze." This means if you are on the flight line, and not directly involved with the event in question, you stay where you are and don't move. For a combat flight arriving or departing, this takes about ten minutes, and involves the active runway and crossing taxiways only. For Obama's flight, this took 90 minutes, during which time a variety of military missions came grinding to a halt. Obviously, this visit was important, right?

Obama Campaign Uses Berlin Speech To Fundraise, Then Denies It

Immediately after the supposed "non-political" speech that Barack Obama gave in Berlin today, his campaign sent out a fundraising email which solicits donations, via a DONATE button in the email that brings you to the Obama campaign contribution page, then denies that it was a fundraising email.

Jake Tapper reports the content of the email as follows:

"As you may have heard, Barack has been in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia this week," reads the email, with a big red "DONATE" sign. "Today, he spoke in Berlin, Germany. In a city where a wall once divided the free from the oppressed, he talked about tearing down the walls that divide all peoples so we can address our common problems -- the threats of terrorism and nuclear weapons, global warming and genocide, AIDS and poverty. Watch Barack's historic speech and share it with your friends."

The Obama campaign has denied that this trip was a political campaign trip, previously calling it a "fact finding" mission, yet the canceled a trip to visit wounded military members in Germany saying that it would be "inappropriate to make a stop to visit troops at a U.S. military facility as part of a trip funded by the campaign."

To solicit donations using a speech that the Obama campaign claims was not a campaign speech used for political purposes, as a contribution hook, is clearly contrary to the previous claim that this speech in Berlin was of a political nature.

After Tapper reported the email fundraising letter using Obama's political speech to encourage donations, the campaign then emailed to take issue with the piece, claiming that calling an email that solicits donations a "fundraising" email was misleading.

Rasmussen: Less Than A Third Of Voters Think Obama Will Learn From His Iraq Trip

Rasmussen questioned American voters about Barack Obama's trip overseas and 32 percent believe that he will not learn anything in Iraq with 40 percent believing that despite this being a "fact finding" trip, he went there with his mind already made up.

63 percent of Americans do not believe that Barack Obama's "fact finding" trip makes him any more qualified to be the president, which is what Rasmussen headlines with on their Rasmussen Report for July 23, 2008.

Obama on Tuesday at a press conference in Jordan defended his plan to withdraw U.S. troops from Iraq over a 16-month period. Gen. David H. Petraeus, the U.S. commander in Iraq, with whom he met, opposes a timeline of any kind, but Obama said more forces are needed in Afghanistan. He outlined these positions in the days prior to his visit to Iraq.

The partisan divide is clear throughout the new survey. The responses of self-designated Democrats and likely Obama voters generally mirror their candidate’s actions and positions, although at times very narrowly. Republicans and likely voters for John McCain support the GOP candidate much more emphatically.

53 percent of the respondents do not approve of a candidate making statements contrary to government policy while in a war zone with only 29 percent believing it is alright to do so. 18 percent of those questioned were not sure.

When broken down by party affiliation, the release shows that 74 percent of Republicans believe that a candidate should not make statements contrary to government policy while in a war zone and 38 percent of Democrats agree with the Republicans on that issue as does 50 percent of unaffiliated voters. 40 percent of Democrats disagree.

45 percent of Americans believe Obama is not experienced enough to become the president while an equal number believe he is experienced enough.

That 45 percent that believe he is too inexperienced has risen from 41 percent believing that, in just the last week.

A plurality of Americans, 47 percent, believe that a candidate should have military experience to direct a war with 38 percent stating it doesn't matter. 15 percent say they are not sure.

John McCain Ads In Berlin and Paris- In America

While Barack Obama is in Berlin giving his political rallies, John McCain is focusing on American voters, those that can actually cast a ballot and Top of The Ticket shows the new McCain campaign ad that will be airing in Berlin......not Germany, but Berlin, Pennsylvania, Berlin, Wisconsin and Berlin, New Hampshire.

This ad will also be running in Paris.... nope, not France, they cannot vote in the elections, but in Paris, Michigan, Missouri and Maine.

McCain is using the time that Obama is away, making his misstatements in Israel and playing for the crowds in Berlin, to focus on the U.S. voters, the ones that can actually help him win the election.

This ad comes at a time when 51 percent of American voters, a majority, believe we are winning the war on terror and a plurality of Americans, for the first time since 2004, believe that Iraq will continue to improve over the next 6 months.

Unless of course the enemy believes that someone will step up into the presidency and hand all those gains away.

Obama voted against funding our troops in the field, that is the message and it is a powerful one.

Does Barack Obama Even Know What Committees He Serves On?

Either he doesn't know what committees he serves on and needs to check the Senate site before speaking, or Barack Obama just doesn't care that he lies when it suits his purpose.

Responding to an Israeli reporter’s question Wednesday on his commitment to protect the Jewish state, Barack Obama pointed to a bill “we passed” in the U.S. Senate Banking Committee that tightens sanctions and authorizes divestment from Iran. “My committee,” he called it.

Except that he isn’t a member of the Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs.

“Just this past week, we passed out of the out of the U.S. Senate Banking Committee - which is my committee - a bill to call for divestment from Iran as way of ratcheting up the pressure to ensure that they don’t obtain a nuclear weapon,” Obama said at a press conference in Sderot, Israel.

Oooops? Or a deliberate lie?

Hot Air who points out that Obama isn't even on any relevant sub committees, states:

Once again, Obama wants to claim credit for efforts on which he served no role. Either that, or Obama is such a dilettante that he has no idea on which committees he actually belongs. It could even be both. Neither gives any confidence that Obama has any grasp at all of his own job, let alone the one for which he’s campaigning. Maybe he needed a lot more than three years to get acclimated to national politics.

No wonder he prefers having a teleprompter, he cannot be trusted to tell the truth when he is just speaking off the top of his head.

Power Line points out how this would be jumped all over had this been a Republican making statements that have no bearing on the truth.

If committed by a Republican, this would be a gaffe of historic proportions. Even a Senator as inattentive to his duties as Obama certainly knows what committees he serves on. For him to fabricate the claim, out of whole cloth, that the Senate Banking Committee is "[his] committee," strikes me as another sign of Obama's megalomania. That, plus more evidence that he is totally at sea without a teleprompter.

Yes, it isn't only me that sees how lost Obama is without a teleprompter.

I was due to attend Greyfriars Police station today to answer bail regarding my arrest on ‘suspicion of stirring up racial hatred’ through written material on this blog.
I was advised by my solicitor/lawyer yesterday that he had spoken to DC Holden regarding my attendance at the police station today and he told him that a decision still had not been made concerning me and my case so they are going to be bailing me for a further few months.
So the leash is still around my neck, but it’s more of an extendable leash now, like the one you put your dog on so they can run a little further, rather than a chock chain.

I lost everything because of the drug dealing gangs of Pakistani Moslems from Luton, my home, by business, my way of life and over 18 months of my life.And I thank God daily for it because my blog now stands as a testimony for others to read about what is going on in Luton & Dunstable, which is Al Qaeda’s frontline within Great Britain, and the Islamic community that has set up camp there.There are many cowards out there who disrespect me but just remember you’re the one who ran away not me, I’m just taking a rest now.

Majority of Americans See The U.S. And Allies Winning War On Terror

51 percent of American voters believe the U.S. and our allies are winning the War on Terror (WoT), with only 16 percent believing the terrorist are winning and 27 percent believing it is a stalemate.

That 51 percent number has risen from just 36 percent of voters believing the U.S. and it's allies were winning the WoT last July with an equal number believing the terrorists were winning in that last poll.

Rasmussen also shows that a plurality of voters, 42 percent, believe that the situation in Iraq will continue to improve, which is 5 percentage points from last week and 19 percentage points from a year ago.

These results continue a trend noted last week when 48% said the U.S. and its allies were winning versus 20% who saw the terrorists ahead. The 28-point difference was the most favorable margin recorded by Rasmussen Reports since tracking began in January 2004. The previous high was established on September 6, 2004, when 52% thought the U.S. and its allies were winning but 26% thought the terrorists were winning -- a 26-point favorable margin.

In another Rasmussen report they show how the population perceives the candidates.

That shows that 46 percent of voters perceive John McCain as a better leader while 36 percent believe Obama would make a better leader.

44 percent believe McCain's values are closest to their own, with 39 percent thin king Obama's values are closer to their own.

24 percent believe McCain is too old to be the president and 45 percent believe Obama is too inexperienced.

47 percent believe that McCain's policies will be the same as Bushes and 46 percent think that Obama offers big government solutions.

51 percent of the voters think that government spending will go up under Obama while 29 percent believe it would rise under McCain.

Both candidates receive 18 percent when the question is will government spending go down under them.

43 percent believe that taxes will rise under Obama if he is elected and 23 percent believe that taxes will go up under McCain.

Barack Obama is trusted more than John McCain on 9 out of 15 issues, including economy, energy, ethics, environment, trade agreements, Social security, healthcare, education and abortion, with 4 of those issues being within the margin of error for the survey.

McCain is trusted more on national security, Iraq and immigration.

The candidates hold equal trust on balancing the budget and taxes.

These numbers help explain why the race is close in the polls with the potential of staying close up until election day.

McCain: 'Obama would rather lose a war in order to win a political campaign'

Joe Klein thinks that statement from John McCain sounds desperate but in reality it is brilliant because it is the absolute truth.

This is a clear choice that the American people have. I had the courage and the judgment to say I would rather lose a political campaign than lose a war. It seems to me that Obama would rather lose a war in order to win a political campaign.

Klein also says: The reality is that neither Barack Obama nor Nouri al-Maliki nor most anybody else believes that the Iraq war can be "lost" at this point.

Oh REALLY??

Perhaps we should ask Mr. "The war is lost" Reid? Or maybe get Pelosi to actually say the words "the surge worked", or Murtha, or Kerry and the list goes on.

The problem Klein is showing is he doesn't like hearing John McCain state the truth publicly.

This Washington Post editorial makes some good points as well.

Yet Mr. Obama's account of his strategic vision remains eccentric. He insists that Afghanistan is "the central front" for the United States, along with the border areas of Pakistan. But there are no known al-Qaeda bases in Afghanistan, and any additional U.S. forces sent there would not be able to operate in the Pakistani territories where Osama bin Laden is headquartered. While the United States has an interest in preventing the resurgence of the Afghan Taliban, the country's strategic importance pales beside that of Iraq, which lies at the geopolitical center of the Middle East and contains some of the world's largest oil reserves. If Mr. Obama's antiwar stance has blinded him to those realities, that could prove far more debilitating to him as president than any particular timetable.

Obama does care more about the election than he does the country and John McCain would do well to remember that and use it as often as possible.

Althouse tears Klein a new one.

If Klein wants to get all outraged about something, he should get outraged retrospectively about how Obama and many Democrats were ready and even eager to embrace defeat. If Klein wants to worry about who is unsuited for the presidency, he ought to recognize that if Obama had been President two years ago, we would have suffered a humiliating defeat in Iraq that would have repercussions for decades.

Couldn't have said it better myself, but she rips him more, so please go check it out.

The left is having a hissy fit that John McCain dared speak the truth, so I hope he continues to pound home on that. America needs to know exactly how invested in defeat Barack Obama truly is.

The Man Who Could Topple Jack Murtha

I am sure you all remember my most recent column on Murtha. You know, the one I titled

If you read that (and I know at least eight of you did!...lol) you may remember I introduced you to William Russell, as a real alternative to Murtha. Today, Michelle Malkin has a column up on Family Security Matters, which addresses this contender.:

A jaw-dropping political miracle may be on the horizon. No, I'm not talking about the second coming of the Obamessiah. I'm talking about the long-deserved comeuppance of troop-smearing, pork-feasting, scandal-tainted Democratic Rep. Jack Murtha of Pennsylvania.

The 18-term congressman's challenger, staunch conservative Republican newcomer William Russell, raised nearly $670,000 in the second fundraising quarter. Earmark king Murtha scraped together a measly $119,000. Russell's underdog campaign bested Murtha without the perks of incumbency, national name recognition, big PAC donations or mainstream media support.

Even more amazing: The 45-year-old Russell, a Desert Storm veteran, former Army lieutenant colonel and Army reservist who survived the Sept. 11 terrorist attack on the Pentagon, was not even publicly campaigning during the quarter. He is on active duty with the Army until after Aug. 1 and is barred from actively campaigning until then.

If all that didn't make this enough of an inspiring David and Goliath story: In February, a Pennsylvania judge ruled that Russell had failed to collect enough signatures to make the primary ballot. But Russell refused to give up on his goal of permanently redeploying Murtha from his entrenched seat of power in Washington. The GOP neophyte persevered on a shoestring budget and won more than 4,000 write-in votes in the spring to earn a spot on the general election ballot. According to Russell's campaign manager and veteran GOP activist Peg Luksik, the bulk of contributions from about 16,000 donors in the second quarter were less than $50...

The Way We See: Our Little Civil Wars

We all have them, these little civil wars. These almost always very civil little civil wars. All you have to do is leave the house. Some poor souls don't even have to leave the house; they can have them right there in their own kitchens. Generally, they start off innocently enough. You can get into one by just talking to someone about something as innocuous as the weather. I got into one today, when I went to the local optometrist to replace a broken nose pad on my glasses.

The woman ahead of me -- an attractive, middle-aged, gray-haired lady -- was having her glasses adjusted and I was waiting my turn. When the optometrist left the room for a few minutes, she turned to me and smiled and started up the conversation. It went something like this:

"This is such a beautiful little town. Do you live here?"
"Yes, it is a beautiful town; and yes, I do live here. Where are you from?"

The woman, and her absent husband -- both teachers, both getting ready to retire -- were from North Carolina, and were up here visiting their son. We talked about teaching and about what a difficult profession it is, and about how much it had changed over the years, about how so many things had changed. And I guess that's how it got started, talking about changes. About how the whole world had changed. Then at some point she said the word "Bush".

Now, I don't know about you, but I've developed a special set of antennae over these last few years that react to that particular word "Bush". Especially when it's said that special way, like a challenge and an indictment all rolled into one. Maybe black people have learned to react to that N-word this same way: The word's been said and now you know the war's begun.

"But, don't you think BUSH has been responsible for a lot of the way people feel about us now? His policies, I mean -- with the war and everything?"

"No, actually, I think if President Bush had never been born our enemies would still be trying to kill us. It's got nothing to do with our foreign policies. They see us as the enemy, the infidels. We're the Great Satan. They want to either destroy us or conquer us."

She just smiled, one of those clever little subtle smiles that says she doesn't believe a word I've just said. We'd reached that point of mutual recognition: we were on opposite sides. I talked for a while about the Koran and the Islamists; but I knew it wasn't doing any good, it wasn't going to change anything. Nothing I could possible say would change anything. She knew it and I knew it. It has gone too far. We are too far apart. The only thing we have in common anymore is our politeness, our civility. But how much longer would that last?

"Sometimes, I think this country's headed for another Civil War," she said, rather matter-of-factly, as though it wasn't all that big a deal, as though she was talking about the possibility of another recession.

My glasses were fixed and it was time to leave; I said goodbye and headed for the door.

"Well, I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree," she said.
"I guess so," I said.

Now, dammit, I had just written something the day before about how I would no longer just agree to disagree with these people, about how these people were the enemy, perhaps a more dangerous enemy than al Qaeda. And here I was 'agreeing to disagree' with them again. It was that damn politeness. That damn civility of this civil civil war.

Well, we both had our glasses fixed now. We could both see clearly once again. But what do we see? How differently do we see this world around us? And how much longer will these little civil wars remain so civil? How much longer will that inate civility still hold us all together?

John Edwards Caught Meeting His Lover

[Update]8/8/08- John Edwards Admits To Sexual Affair Reported By National Enquirer

[Update] 8/6/08- National Enquirer produces photos.

Disclaimer- I have never particularly trusted stories in the NATIONAL ENQUIRER but once in a while they do get things right and there is so much detail to this story that it should be easy to prove or disprove.

So, with a grain of salt added, here is the run down.

The NATIONAL ENQUIRER got wind of a meeting that was going to occur, watched Edwards enter the Beverly Hilton hotel where blonde divorcée Rielle Hunter was staying on July 21, 2008,then saw the couple leave, return, and the reporters waited for Edwards to depart and greeted him.

They say he actually hid in the bathroom until hotel security helped escort him out.

They produce pictures and there will be no way he can get out of this one.

The NATIONAL ENQUIRER learned ahead of time that one such meeting was set for yesterday.

At 9:45 p.m. (PST) Monday, Edwards appeared at the hotel, and was dropped off at a side entrance. NATIONAL ENQUIRER reporter Alan Butterfield witnessed the ex-senator get out of a BMW driven by a male companion and stroll into the hotel.

Said Butterfield: "Edwards was not carrying anything. He walked in alone. He was wearing a blue dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up. He was looking around nervously before he entered the hotel.

"Once inside, he interestingly bypassed the lobby and ducked down a side stairs to go to the bottom floor to catch the elevator up - rather than taking the elevator in the main lobby. He went out of his way not to be seen."

Meanwhile, Rielle had reserved rooms 246 and 252 under the name of the friend who had accompanied her from Santa Barbara, Bob McGovern. Rielle was in one room and McGovern was in another with her baby. This allowed her and Edwards to spend time alone, a source revealed.

Edwards went out of the hotel briefly with Rielle, they were observed by the NATIONAL ENQUIRER and then went back to her room, where he stayed until attempting to sneak out of the hotel unseen at 2:40 a.m. (PST). But when he emerged alone from an elevator into the hotel basement he was greeted by several reporters from the NATIONAL ENQUIRER.

Senior NATIONAL ENQUIRER Reporter Alexander Hitchen asked Edwards why he was visiting Rielle and whether he was ready to confirm that he was the father of her baby.

Shocked to see a reporter, and without saying anything, Edwards ran up the stairs leading from the hotel basement to the lobby. But, spotting a photographer, he doubled back into the basement. As he emerged from the stairwell, reporter Butterfield questioned him about his hookup with Rielle.

Edwards did not answer and then ran into a nearby restroom. He stayed inside for about 15 minutes, refusing to answer questions from the NATIONAL ENQUIRER about what he was doing in the hotel. A group of hotel security men eventually escorted him from the men's room, while preventing the NATIONAL ENQUIRER reporters from following him out of the hotel.

I am waiting for picture proof or witnesses to speak up, but if this can be proven, or if they have photo evidence, then that rumor that he is on the Obama VP short list, just blew up and that list just got shorter.

Pajamas Media says they also had wind of the story but didn't have proof enough to publish, then they make this point.

Oh, one last thing, for those of you who says it’s The National Enquirer, how do we know it’s true? I suggest you Google the “National Enquirer and OJ Simpson.” They broke most of the important stories on that case. In general, these days they’re vastly more reliable than The New York Times.

That is a good point.

Gathering of Eagles Is Calling All Patriots!!!

A call to action by the Gathering of Eagles for a show of solidarity with an Air National Guard member, Master Sgt. Denise James, who is being sued by her condo association because on Memorial Day she put up small American flags in her yard to honor past and present veterans.

Because her yard is considered a common area and she refused to take down the flags, which as you can see from the photo, are very small, the McKenzie Place Condominium Association is suing her for $1,000 plus court costs.

James said she was given a way out last week when the association offered to settle the matter if she removed the flags and paid a $250 fine. She refused that, too.

I received an email from The Gathering of Eagles and they are asking that patriots, Eagles, veterans, active military and friends and family show up and support James.

We are asking everyone to attend this hearing in her support and to support the flying of the American Flag. How long are we going to put up with these pukes? Wear your VVA/AVVA T shirts, ball hats, vest. I am also asking the Patriot Guards and Rolling Thunder to attend.

Denise is being fined $10.00 a day in the suit everyday she flies her small American Flags in front of her condo. Someone tell me, is this still AMERICA?

Veterans Affairs Partners With Monster Government Solutions To Find Jobs For Veterans

In a new plan to help veterans obtain employment the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has partnered with Monster Government Solutions to help veterans gain employment.

Monster Government Solutions is a division of Monster Worldwide, Inc., which is a company that markets online employment services to employers and job seekers.

They will partner with the VA to provide veteran-owned small businesses with opportunity to list job openings for veterans, which will include service-disabled veterans. These businesses will be given a large discount and Monster will list these jobs for twice as long as they do for other employers.

According to the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, Dr. James B. Peake, "This government-corporate partnership represents the best kind of effort to help those who gave up time in their lives to serve their country and return to an economic community that may not recognize their skills. The program should make it easier for employers to find qualified job candidates as well as veteran suppliers and service contractors."

Veteran business owners must be listed in the VA's online Vendor Information Pages, found at http://www.vetbiz.gov/.

This partnership between the VA and Monster Government Solutions will initially be for two years and provides for extensions. The VetBiz Registry is a service of the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Center for Veterans Enterprise.

John McCain, Barack Obama Star in Biographical Comic Books

IDW Publishing will be publishing two comic books, 28 pages each, showing the biography of both presumptive presidential candidates, John McCain and Barack Obama.

The two biographical comic books will go on sale October 1, 2008 in comic book stores around the nation and will be available at nationwide, and will be available at presidentialcomics.com.

The one featuring the history of John McCain will be written by Mr. Helfer who is a veteran writer and editor for the comic book industry and he says he has to figure out a way to sum up John McCain's career in 28 pages, so he states, "To get the amount of information that’s covered in the McCain comic, you have to read at least two of his books. It’s the fastest way to get an understanding of who he is.”

The comic book featuring the life of Barack Obama will be written by Jeff Mariotte who is a novelist of supernatural thrillers and has written for previous comics as well as television and he states that he started reading everything he could get his hands on and his computer to and concludes by saying, "I just read everything I could find that looked authentic. I kept away from the crazy sites.”

Barack Obama Strongly Condemns Terror Attack Near Jerusalem Hotel

In an attack that injured anywhere from 5 to 16 people, depending on what reports your read, a man took a backhoe and went on a rampage in central Jerusalem Tuesday before being shot and killed.

CNN reports that 5 were injured when a 22 year-old Palestinian man from east Jerusalem went on a rampage that is reminiscent of the attack earlier this month which killed three and wounded about 45 others.

In this latest attack, the 22 year-old took a backhoe from a construction site, drove it about 160 meters, crashing into a city bus and four other vehicles.

According to an Associated press article published in JPost, there were 16 injured while the CNN report only listed 5.

The injured were taken to hospitals in the capital.

The attack took place near the luxury hotel where Barack Obama is scheduled to stay on Tuesday night.

Obama commented on the attack from Jordan, saying, "I strongly condemn this attack and will always support Israel in confronting terrorism and pursuing lasting peace and security. Right now, my thoughts and prayers go out to all who were injured and their families."


The bus driver, who was not identified, described the scene for Channel 10 TV, stating, "I was driving on the main road when the (construction vehicle) hit me in the rear, on the right hand side. After I passed him he turned round, made a U-turn and rammed the windows twice with the shovel. The third time he aimed for my head, he came up to my window and I swerved to the right, otherwise I would have gone to meet my maker."

Witness Moshe Shimshi said that the bulldozer driver, who was wearing a large, white skullcap commonly worn by religious Muslims, slammed into the side of the bus, then sped away and went for a car.

"He didn't yell anything, he just kept ramming into cars," Shimshi said.

The driver then headed for cars waiting at a red light "and rammed into them with all his might," he added.

Two of those wounded were a mother and a baby and one other man had his leg partially severed, according to Israeli rescue services. That man had been in the car that was overturned by the backhoe.

An Israeli spokesman, Mark Regev, states, "This was another attempt to murder innocent people in a senseless act of terrorism. All people who believe in peace and reconciliation must unequivocally condemn this attack. Unfortunately, it is clear that we as a society will have to remain vigilant against terrorism."

Barack Obama and Fake Interviews

The video below is of Hardball with Chris Matthews and Andrea Mitchell from NBC, speaking to Matthews from Iraq. although she is what many would call a liberal reporter, it looks like her ethics overrule her party preference and she doesn't seem all that happy with Barack Obama's message managing.

He didn't have reporters with him, he didn't have a press pool, he didn't do a press conference while he was on the ground in either Afghanistan or Iraq. What you're seeing is not reporters brought in. You're seeing selected pictures taken by the military, questions by the military, and what some would call fake interviews, because they're not interviews from a journalist. So, there's a real press issue here. Politically it's smart as can be. But we've not seen a presidential candidate do this, in my recollection, ever before.


MATTHEWS: Let me ask you about access to the troops, Andrea. A lot of African-American faces over there, very happy, delighted faces. Is that a representation of the percentage of servicepeople who are African-American, or did they all choose to join someone they like, apparently? What's the story?

MITCHELL: I can't really say that. Being a reporter who was not present in any of those situations, I just cannot report on what was edited out, what was, you know, on the sidelines. That's my issue. We don't know what we are seeing.

Good for Mitchell for standing on principle.

Americans are only seeing what the Obama campaign wants them to see.

John Mccain's Vice President To Be Named Soon?

The blogosphere and the media is buzzing with news that John McCain might, maybe, possibly, "could" be getting ready to announce his VP pick by Tuesday or Wednesday.

Top of the Ticket points out that John McCain will just happen to be pretty close to Massachusetts this week, where Mitt Romney just happens to be and on Wednesday, McCain will be in Louisiana, where Bobby Jindal is.

Speculation is high right now and it seems as if McCain is enjoying it because when reporters asked him if he was going to announce his VP choice tomorrow, it is said that he "grinned and walked away."

Then again, Malcolm does make another good point when he says:

Then again, the whole thing with the nonanswers could be a perfectly timed feint -- no one in McCain's camp has said anything they'd have to take back -- that would still serve for a day or two to draw some attention back from the freshman Illinois senator on his foreign political field trip. Witness, this item.

(Worth noting: Conservative columnist Bob Novak is reporting -- and Matt Drudge is touting -- that McCain will make his vice presidential pick known by the end of this week.)

The Politico says "plugged-in" sources think it is unlikely that McCain would announce his VP pick this week.

Personally, I think if McCain has already made the decision, then he should announce it this week and this was he and his pick can make the rounds, doubling the network coverage leading up to the Democratic convention and then on to the Republican convention.

Shay's Rebellion and Foreclosures in 2008

From Shay's Rebellion to Fight Club, sometimes the tree of liberty has to be refreshed with a little blood. Sometimes bleeding is the only way to remind people that they are alive.

1 in 501 homes in America are in some state of foreclosure. The 1 in 501 homes are only the newest set of foreclosures that have happened over the past two years. Millions of Americans are becoming homeless, poor, and riddled with bad credit, because of predatory lending and a failing economy.

The federal government has not noticed the trials and tribulations faced by the majority of their constituents. The concern in the federal government seems to extend is to the banks that have fleeced and raped the American people. Bear Stearns was bailed out with billions of dollars, now Indy Mac has been taken over by the government. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are in major trouble. Money is being thrown at these institutions that acted in not only an immoral way, but now it seems in illegal ways as well. 150 banks may go under and again more money is thrown at these banks. Yet, people are still facing homelessness.

This is our America, this is our government, awarding the wicked and punishing the victim. If we lived in a young America the people would have not put up with this type of corporate back scratching and blatant disregard for the real problems of the people. People would have exercised two rights that make sure we the people can keep our government in check; the right to bear arms, and the right of freedom of expression. In other words there would have been a rebellion.

Let us go back to January 1787 when Daniel Shay, an ex-Revolutionary War soldier decided that the abuses of the Massachusetts government which led to foreclosures of farms were not to be tolerated. Shay’s Rebellion attempted to stop foreclosures by preventing courts from sitting by force. Although the attempt failed after a private militia group broke up the rebellion, it brought much attention to the failings of the government at the time. That same year American Constitution was written to replace the weak Articles of Confederation.

It can be amusing to see the responses of the founding fathers had to Shay’s Rebellion. George Washington is quoted as saying, “For God’s sake, if they have real grievances, redress them; if they have not, employ the force of government against them at once.” Obviously the governor of Massachusetts did not feel that the ex-Revolutionary war soldiers that went in debt from fighting in the war for independence have any reason to complain. Thomas Jefferson wrote a famous reply that many subverts and dissidents cling to for justification of their views. “A little rebellion now and then is a good thing. The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.” The question that remains is that did Thomas Jefferson believe these men were patriots, or tyrants?

Many people facing foreclosures today, some soldiers who have lost everything fighting in Iraq, would say that the rebels had the right idea. Will the government today have the same response if there were mass protests across the country? Would the American people who have been suppressed, held down, and trampled on by power hungry government officials be dispersed and forced to flee to neighboring countries?

When news reporters bring up the subject of the personal suffering of homeowners, talking heads discount them as either uneducated and poor, or irresponsible. They say the economy is fine, although we have consistently lost jobs in the recent economy, although home equity is almost destroyed, although underemployment has risen significantly. How these men and women can appear on national television and insult hardworking men and women without reproach shows just how out of touch the upper class is with the majority of America; and how powerless people are to even challenge so-called experts let alone the power wielding bureaucrats.

It is time for the tree of liberty to be refreshed, perhaps not in blood, but with the sweat, tears, and shame of the out of touch representatives, the elite who hold the rest of America by the strings. It is time for the suits on the hill to be reminded that there are real people, and real constituents; with lives, families, children, and concerns that must be taken into account. Despite the spin of the media and the talking heads, the majority of people who are in foreclosure did not make an idiotic choice. They lost their jobs, or were manipulated by loan sharks. Many did not have adjustable rates and were caught in a scam, or rising taxes, or the addition of forceplaced private mortgage insurance because they did not have 20 percent of their house already paid for. Yes, somehow charging upwards of $100 dollars or more a month for insurance the bank takes out on your loan is supposed to help you pay for it a bit easier or make your payments more secure. Now the FDIC has placed restriction on lending that will make it impossible for anyone to own their own house again.

In the late 1990’s when credit card companies were being scrutinized as people began to feel the crunch of heavy credit card interest rates. Hollywood tackled the credit card problem in response to this new found dissatisfaction. The move Fight Club was at first appeared as a simple psychological drama. The ending though was inspiring for people who wanted to “stick it to the man,” without extreme violence. In the middle of the night the Fight Club bombed major credit card buildings, wiping out information on the debt of many.

The first rule of Fight Club, do not talk about Fight Club. Anyone who is planning on taking on the Feds whether it is by the violent means of the movie, but preferably through protest, would do well not to let the plans slip out till everything is set. If Americans were to unite against the government officials, many of who are American royalty with family trees branching within the government for generations, they would meet opposition that is clearly sophisticated, well funded, and backed by the most powerful military in the world. That is unless the grassroots organization could convince the military that it is in their best interest to support those trying to subvert the corrupt government.

My Ancestry and Claim to America

The other day I was involved in a passionate debate with my very liberal and very Italian family. We discussed the state of America from education to immigration. It has always been important to me to see things from the point of view of another, but with my family I also seem to have that feeling reciprocated. This is why an independent like me and old world style Democrats can be in the same family and still be on speaking terms.

I am not of the mind that I have anymore claim to the land I live on than the millions of Americans that have been born and raised on this soil from men and women who were American citizens before them. The fact of the matter is all people who are on American soil were immigrants at one time. So when arguments are put forth that the Spanish, the English, or the French were encroaching on territory of natives I usually correct them and say they were encroaching on the land of Asian immigrants.
