John McCain: Obama Seems To Be Running For A Second Carter Term

[Update] Video added below, H/T Hot Air

As Barack Obama and John McCain go back and forth on the issue of the economy, Obama insists that voting for McCain would be like having a third Bush term and McCain speaks about Obama, saying, "It seems to me he's running for Jimmy Carter's second."
John McCain said this in an interview with Brian Williams, which will air on NBC's Nightly News, tonight.

They need a little break from-- from their gasoline taxes, and they -- and they know that -- we've got to get spending under control. And we've got to become independent of foreign oil. Sen. Obama says that I'm running for a Bush's third terms. It seems to me he's running for Jimmy Carter's second. (LAUGHTER)

Obama gave a speech today in Raleigh, North Carolina on the economy and the GOP responded to that speech on a conference call as well as published a new fact sheet on Barack Obama and his "tax platform," that they say will weaken the economy, and this comment from John McCain is the latest volley in the back and forth between Obama and McCain, in what promises to be a very interesting presidential campaign season.

(Additional note)- Jimmy Carter was a Democratic President from 1977 to 1981, then in 1981 Republican Ronald Reagan, won the election from the incumbent Carter, and served two terms (8 years) and then in 1989 George H.W. Bush, held the office until 1993.
