Waiting for the Padilla Verdict.:UPDATE GUILTY: Reactions are in

Comments from the Left Field readers, sorry, there was a mixup on Comments From the Left Fields part and I am not, nor have ever been Jules Crittenden, although I consider it a compliment to be confused with him, I have the wrong body parts.

Okay, I thought I was in the big time when Conservative blogger Jules Crittendon had taken to swiping at us on a regular basis.
(That link was to this blog, not Jules')

Thanks for stopping by anyway!!! [End Update]

[Update] Guilty on all three counts. I will bring more as I hear it and links when they come out.[End of first update]

[Update #2]
CNN brings us our first of many links announcing the guilty verdict.

Padilla's two co-defendants, Adham Hassoun and Kifan Jayyousi, were also found guilty on the three counts as charged: conspiracy to murder, kidnap, and maim people in a foreign country, conspiracy to provide material support for terrorists, and providing material support for terrorists.

The verdict came after less than two days of deliberations, according to a U.S. District Court official.

Sentencing is set for December 5. He faces life in prison.

AP is also reporting the verdict.

We will update with reactions from around the blogosphere about the verdict, below the post as they come in.

[End 2nd Update]

While we wait for the verdict, due at 2pm, you can catch up on who Jose Padilla is, right here. (It will open in a new window)

The head on over to Stop the ACLU, who has reactions of those waiting with us for this verdict.

I have expressed doubt before that our court system is capable or competent in dealing with "terror" cases which is why we have the military Commission, and I guess this will help guide us here one way or another.

Check back, we will bring you the verdict when it comes out.

Keep track of the expected buzzzzzzzz.

[Update with reactions] Stop the ACLU with:

We’ve all been waiting…and now the verdict has been told. Guilty, guilty, and guilty! All three counts get slammed on him, including the terrorist charge at the top. It won’t be long before we hear the cries of injustice from left field.

More reactions coming in:

A Blog For All:

The Left is going through the motions of outrage in the usual locations (DKos, Huffpo, DU, etc.), whining and seething over the conduct and treatment against Padilla, without once noting the possibility that he was indeed guilty as charged.

On example of that shows A Blog For All's point perfectly comes from Firedoglake:

The evidence presented by the prosecution was sparse at best – taped wiretaps of Hassoun and Jayyousi captured discussions of vegetables and family life – discussions the prosecutors claimed were code for terrorist activities rather than humanitarian aid work as claimed by the defense. For Padilla, the hyped charges that initially presented this “jomoke” (to quote Lew) as a “star recruit” for Al Qaeda amounted to a supposed “application” to AQ with seven Padilla fingerprints on it. Blocked from the trial was evidence of the torture of Padilla during the 3 1/2 years he was held as an enemy combatant.

Hint to Siun (Writer of that Firedoglake piece) PERHAPS because that does not speak to his CRIMES.

From Jammie Wearing Fools:

The unindicted terrorist co-conspirators from CAIR immediately began seething.

I bet!!!

Comments from the Left Field, as we see with many on the left, cannot just address the "issue" but has to let their Bush Derangement Syndrome and their obsession with Bush seep into everything they say:

I’ll be interested to see if Bush himself remarks on this. On one hand, I would expect him to start bleating from the rafters how great his anti-terrorism policies are (hmmm… Rudy might join in). On the other hand, it’s very possible he might shut up and just be grateful this wasn’t completely thrown out (as opposed to the dirty bomb charges which really demonized Padilla in the first place) showing how complete a failure Bush’s anti-terrorism policies really are.

Little Green Footballs shows us the Kos kids expected reactions with a screen shot.

Remember to keep up with the buzz yourself, because it is coming out faster than I can update...LOL.

The Not So Moderate Voice's writer Shaun BDS Mullen, is another one that cannot address this mans guilt or innocence but insists on trying to distract with more Bush obsession.

BDS is addressed by a professional for those that wish to understand more about this irrational syndrome many members of the left have contracted:

This disease is complex and Dr. Sanity does a good job explaining it.

Right Truth says:

I guess the jury didn't buy the argument that "his extended detention and interrogation at the US Naval Consolidated Brig in Charleston, S.C., left him with severe mental disabilities."

More disappointment from the left that a criminal was actually convicted.

I can't say I'm surprised, but I'm really disappointed that the jury found Padilla guilty. I suppose they were constrained by the rules of evidence and probably didn't have much of a choice since Padilla is far too damaged from three years of torture while in US custody to meaningfully assist in his own defense, but in no way was justice served by this verdict.
