Paul Ryan Speaks In Roanoke, VA, Scene Of Obama's Biggest Gaffe With 'We Did Build It' Signs

By Susan Duclos

Paul Ryan went straight to the scene of the crime, so to speak, Roanoke, Virginia, where Barack Obama committed the biggest gaffe of the 2012 campaign season by uttering the words, (video at link) "If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help.  There was a great teacher somewhere in your life.  Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive.  Somebody invested in roads and bridges.  If you’ve got a business — you didn’t build that.  Somebody else made that happen."

Not only did Ryan go there on Wednesday, but he spoke at a podium with a huge banner that read "We Did Build It'  and a smaller one at the podium in front of him. He spoke of Obama's "imaginary" recovery and he capitalized on the remarks by Obama back in July that offended business owners across the country.

He was introduced by Chris McMurray, owner of the Crumb and Get It Cookie Co., aka "Chris the Baker" a local business owner that caught the national spotlight after having refused to host Joe Biden for a media event on the way to his scheduled speech at Virginia Tech. Chris cited Obama's "you didn't build that" remarks as his reasoning for his refusal and has seen overwhelming support, by way of business, for his principled decision.

[Update] Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan will be campaigning together on Friday at a rally at the Long Family Orchard Farm and Cider Mill in Commerce, Michigan.

Yesterday, a Michigan pollster released results showing the Romney/Ryan ticket moving ahead of the Obama/Biden ticket.
