Nancy Pelosi Backed Into A Corner On Offshore Drilling

Remember just a couple weeks ago when Nancy Pelosi absolutely refused to consider offshore drilling?

Well after irresponsibly going on a five week vacation without allowing an energy package that included drilling to come up for a vote, and the Republicans stayed behind in chambers to protest and demand a vote and now that polls are showing an overwhelmingly majority of Americans, siding with Republicans, want offshore drilling as part of a larger package.....well well well, looks like Pelosi backed herself into a corner here and now, all of a sudden, she is willing to consider it?

As part of a larger package....just as Republicans had demanded all along.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Monday night dropped her staunch opposition to a vote on offshore oil drilling in the House.

Republicans, reacting to high gas prices, have demanded a vote on additional oil exploration in the Outer Continental Shelf, where drilling is currently blocked by a moratorium. Until now, Pelosi (D-Calif.) has resisted the idea as a “hoax.” But in an interview on CNN’s Larry King Live, she indicated that she was open to a vote.

This is something she indicated before, then changed her fickle mind about and now she is mouthing the words again, but words are not enough.... people need to continue to pound the point home and let her know that her inaction, her refusal to allow a vote that included lifting the congressional ban on offshore drilling and then going away on vacation without addressing the gas prices, was unacceptable.

Then again, maybe she just realizes that when the ban expires, she doesn't have the votes to re-issue it.
