The Backfiring Of The 3 AM "Ad War" Between Clinton and Obama--UPDATE- McCain's New Ad

In an amazing twist in the ongoing battle between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, Rasmussen reports that the benefactor of the now infamous 3 AM "ad war" that both Clinton and Obama participated in, has been John McCain.

It started with the ad above, short, to the point and asking "It's 3:00am and your children are asleep. There's a phone in the White House, and it's ringing. Something is happening in the world. Your vote will decide who answers that call. Whether someone knows the world's leaders, knows the military, someone tested and ready to lead. It's 3am and your children are safe and asleep. Who do you want answering the phone?"

Almost immediately, ripples across the Internet started and media, blogs and forums started saying, " Hillary Cuts an Ad ... for McCain".

That very same day, Barack Obama responded with an ad of his own (scroll down at that link for the video) questioning not who should answer the phone, but what judgment would people rather the person answering have.

Well, that was last week. Today we see a report in Rasmussen which confirms what many said about John McCain being the one to benefit from that particular ad war.

The commercial was credited as one factor enabling Clinton to turn her campaign around in Texas last week. But, 42% of all voters said the person they’d most want to answer the phone was John McCain. Among all voters, 25% picked Clinton and another 25% named Obama as the person they’d want in the White House when a foreign policy crisis call arrived.

46 percent of Democrats picked Hillary Clinton, 36 percent of Democrats picked Barack Obama and 79 percent of Republicans chose John McCain with Obama and Clinton never hitting double digits among Republican voters.

The most interesting data though was about unaffiliated voters, 39 percent chose John McCain, 27 percent picked Obama and Clinton came out below both with 18 percent.

An Obama foreign policy advisor said that neither Democrat was prepared to take that call (see video), a comment that John McCain was quite happy to endorse.

It would seem that this constant war between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination for presidency, John Mccain is the biggest benefactor of all.

Ironic.

McCain should probably send them both a gift basket as thanks.

[Update] (H/T Hot Air) OMG.. better than McCain benefiting from Hillary and Obama's 3am ad war....is number one, he didn't have to do a thing and number 2, he is now taking full advantage of their stupidity with his OWN ad:

It is 2 minutes and 6 seconds and one has to expect when the two democratic candidates open the door wide... the Republican candidate has no problem walking through it....LOL

McCain really needs to send these two a gift basket with a thank you note.
