Lets start with the latest embarrassment for the Democrats and the 12 yr old boy they "used" to make their points about the SCHIP bill that was just vetoed, which after some digging by a Freeper member, turned out to prove the President's points about the badly written bill.
The media jumped all over that 12 yr old and his plight and his plea, but they forgot one very important thing in their desire to further the Democratic politicians agenda.... FACT CHECKING.Rush Limbaugh addresses this issue today.Bonnie Frost works for a medical publishing firm; her husband, Halsey, is a woodworker. They are raising their four children on combined income of about $45,000 a year. Neither gets health insurance through work.
Once again, that was left up to bloggers, in this instance, someone from Free Republic (Hat Tip to The Corner) started digging, something the media as well as the Democrats didn't bother to do, obviously. What the article does not mention is that Halsey Frost has owned his own company "Frostworks",since this marriage announcement in the NY Times in 1992 so he chooses to not give himself insurance. He also employed his wife as "bookkeeper and operations management" prior to her recent 2007 hire at the "medical publishing firm". As her employer, he apparently denied her health insurance as well.
His company, Frostworks, is located at 3701 E BALTIMORE ST. A building that was purchased for $160,000 in 1999. The buildings owner is listed as DIVERSIFIED INDUSTRIAL DESIGN CENTER, LLC whose mailing address is listed as 104 S Collington Ave which is the Frost's home. The commercial property he owns is also listed as the business address for another company called Reillys Designs which leads to the question of whether rental income is included in the above mentioned salary total
The current market value of their improved 3,040 SF home at 104 S Collington Ave is unknown but 113 S COLLINGTON AVE, also an end unit, sold for $485,000 this past March and it was only 2,060 SF. A photo taken in the family's kitchen shows what appears to be a recent remodeling job with granite counter tops and glass front cabinets
One has to wonder that if time and money can be found to remodel a home, send kids to exclusive private schools, purchase commercial property and run your own business... maybe money can be found for other things...maybe Dad should drop his woodworking hobby and get a real job that offers health insurance rather than making people like me (also with 4 kids in a 600sf smaller house and tuition $16,000 less per kid and no commercial property ownership) pay for it in my taxes.
Rush Says:" Why Democrats Have to Lie to Win"
So the bottom line for me is: they can't rely on truth to make their case for their cause. They have to lie. Be it about me, be it about their own voters (such as the Frosts) be it about President Bush, they must lie -- and anybody who stands in the way of their succeeding with that lie becomes an enemy, becomes a target. That's where I and my buddies in talk radio come in. We are a thorn in their side because we represent the truth they are trying to hide, the truth that they are lying about, and they have to do something about it -- and they have to do that by lying. The truth will not help 'em. The truth is inconvenient to today's Democrat Party and today's left. "Fiction" is their byword. Make it up. Make sure people cry about it. Have a lot of emotion attached to the fiction, and have no guilt about it. "Once you get past the lying, the rest is easy," is their philosophy. The kid, Graeme Frost, in one of his radio addresses, asked the question: "Why doesn't President Bush want children to have health care?" They send the kid out to lie. They filled this kid's head with lies just as they have some of these soldiers about me. Put lies in the kid's head or put it on the script that he's reading. He goes out and reads it. He's 12 years old! They will use anybody! They'll corrupt anybody, to get where they're headed. That's who they are, folks.Par for the course for the far left liberals, instead of looking to their own political leaders and smacking them in the head for not doing their homework about the Frost family, they instead perpetuate one lie and distortion, with another, by claiming the right wing is "smearing a 12 yr old kid". (Took them a full day to figure out how to "spin" the facts)
For the record, it isn't the 12 yr olds fault that their parents are scamming the government and taking money from low income families to pay for healthcare THEY could have afforded.
[Update] The Corner has an excellent point about Democrats that hide behind children, then whine like babies when the child's family gets researched.
Sorry, no sale. The Democrats chose to outsource their airtime to a Seventh Grader. If a political party is desperate enough to send a boy to do a man's job, then the boy is fair game. As it is, the Dems do enough cynical and opportunist hiding behind biography and identity, and it's incredibly tedious. And anytime I send my seven-year-old out to argue policy you're welcome to clobber him, too. The alternative is a world in which genuine debate is ended and, as happened with Master Frost, politics dwindles down to professional staffers writing scripts to be mouthed by Equity moppets.Read it all....there is more information about the Frost family there. [End Update]But one thing is clear by now: Whatever the truth about this boy's private school, his family home, his father's commercial property, etc, the Frosts are a very particular situation and do not illustrate any social generality - and certainly not one that makes the case for an expensive expansive all-but universal entitlement.
Moving right along, Rush pulls up a speech made in 1995 and shows us how it applies to the left of today:
Rush says:
RUSH: I want to read a quote to you from a speech, just a couple lines, a couple paragraphs. I want to ask you to think about, as you're listening to this, who said this.
"How dare you suggest that we, in the freest nation on earth, live in tyranny? How dare you call yourselves patriots and heroes? I say to you, all of you, there is nothing patriotic about hating your country or pretending that you can love your country but despise your government. There is nothing heroic about turning your back on America or ignoring your own responsibilities. If you want to preserve your own freedom, you must stand up for the freedom of others with whom you disagree, but you also must stand up for the rule of law. You cannot have one without other."
Who said it? A Republican? A Democrat?
HEH.
Bill Clinton.
Rush Says:
So if members of the kook-fringe left heard Bill Clinton say this, they would be convinced he was talking about us, would they not? But the reason I found this quote fascinating is because it could easily be aimed at his own party today, the people who are invested in the defeat of the US military in Iraq; the people who are intent on destroying the character of the four-star general leading the war; the people who accused him of being a liar before he opened his mouth; the people who ran that fraudulent ad in MoveOn.org in the New York Times.....Read the whole thing...
In another embarrassment for the Democrats, Harry "Baghdad" Reid is still pushing for an apology from Rush for calling phony soldiers, such as Jesse Macbeth....PHONY SOLDIERS.
WASHINGTON -- October 8, 2007: Clear Channel CEO Mark Mays last week declined to apologize for a September 26 on-air remark by Rush Limbaugh -- syndicated by CC-owned Premiere Radio networks -- so now the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee has sent an e-mail, signed by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, to supporters asking them to contact Mays and demand that he make Limbaugh apologize.
"It's one thing to call me 'Dingy Harry,' Reid wrote, "it's another to insult our men and women in uniform, calling those who oppose the war 'phony soldiers' as Rush did during his Sept. 26 broadcast."
I love how Rush has Dingy Harry so flustered he actually uses Rush's name for him in an open email...LOLOLOL
Ok, now that I have stopped laughing we come to the next point which Harry Reid just made for the author of this article.
Rush couldn’t buy the publicity Congressional Liberals are giving him. It seems liberals would learn by now they shouldn’t take on someone who has nothing to fear or lose. Rush Limbaugh is one of the most popular talk show hosts in the country. With each attack his popularity grows. Put that up against a congress with an 11% approval rating or to put it another way an 89% disapproval rating and who do we think will come out ahead, who wins?
Several Democratic congressmen most notably Senate majority leader Harry Reid are fabricating allegations against Rush Limbaugh they are guilty of themselves. The “phony soldier” allegations they’re making against Rush have been used by several congress men and women in the past [except as derogatory allegations.] Perhaps not in those words but their meaning is without question just as demeaning. Harry Reid the little twit from Los Vegas Nevada has more allegations of impropriety against him than can be counted even if we take off both shoes Harry Reid is a demagogue without shame.
I head Rush Limbaugh’s remarks and there’s no way they can be construed as showing the slightest disrespect for our soldiers. This is the Democratic leadership playing politics at its very worst. The public hasn’t seen this much skulduggery in congress since the Joe McCarthy hearings. The 110th congress under the leadership of Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi has spent the entire 9 months on a witch-hunt rather than attending to the nations business. Is it they don’t know how to lead or is it they simply don’t care, are they seeing this as an opportunity to stick it to Republicans, if so they’re sticking it to the voters as well and we don’t like it.
Exactly, the liberals that keep trying to perpetuate the lie that Media Matters started, are simply making Rush Limbaugh more popular.
I am proof of this because as I said, I never had an opinion of Rush Limbaugh, one way or another and I certainly never heard him on the radio or read his webtsite and now, I have even started a " Rush Says" series, because of the lies from Media Matters and the liberals.
That is it for the "Rush Says" segment today folks, but there is quite a bit more on his site, so head on over and read it all.
Please do not forget to go sign the letter going to Harry Reid and cohorts as well as to Clear Channel, then go sign the petition, which in one day has already gotten 13,900+ signatures sending Washington a message.
