Military Reactions

[UPDATES BELOW]

Before the elections I posted a series about our Military and their opinion on Iraq. These are men on the ground IN Iraq, soldiers that fight there every day. These are the voices that went ignored on elections day. You can read their words at the following links: "The Soldiers Speak up--LOUDLY", "The Soldiers Keep Speaking", "Another Soldier Speaks", "American Soldier Speaks to Anti-War Protesters." and "Confederate Yankee Interviews Soldiers in Iraq".

So, elections are over, what is done is done, the troops who fight and die in Iraq every day obviously don't mean enough to the people here in the US to even listen to. That will not stop me from bringing those words to you whenever I see them. Military blogs folks. Search them and read them and understand how much disrespet we have shown those valiant soldiers by ignoring them.

Now we have our Military's response to the elections, Veterans and active duty troops alike.

First is Black Five, in response to Nancy Pelosi's comment: "not a war to be won but a situation to be solved."

I expect a certain amount of ignorance and naivete about the military and war overall among Democrats, although there are exceptions, but Nancy Pelosi is setting a new standard. In an interview on FOX news she manages to perfectly encapsulate why she and the Dems overall have no idea what we are really doing. From the new Speaker of the House about Iraq (at HotAir w/ video):

Right, and that will really make our troops fighting and dying in this situation feel a whole lot better. Thank you Madame Speaker, for that show of your deep understanding and acknowledgement that you don't even know what color the clue bag is. A situation to be solved, a spot of bother, maybe a sticky wicket, but a war? Certainly not, that would require a win or loss or maybe a tie like Korea. Madame Speaker is neatly sidestepping that whole quagmire and rebranding this as The Iraq Situation.

BlackFive also has a few comments from others in the military.

Yup, it’s Vietnam. They are going to get a lot of good people killed with their complete and utter lack of understanding or concern of what their actions/language is going to bring to this country. Hey lefties, thanks. Get the troops out now. No more blood for cowards.

Hey cal, piglosi is only concerned with the liberal agenda. And that does not include a strong military or national defense. She is a hypocrite.

"As a member of the House Intelligence Committee, I am keenly aware that the proliferation of chemical and biological weapons is an issue of grave importance to all nations. Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process." Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi (Democrat, California)Statement on US Led Military Strike Against IraqDecember 16, 1998

"I come to this debate, Mr. Speaker, as one at the end of 10 years in office on the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, where stopping the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction was one of my top priorities. I applaud the President on focusing on this issue and on taking the lead to disarm Saddam Hussein. ... Others have talked about this threat that is posed by Saddam Hussein. Yes, he has chemical weapons, he has biological weapons, he is trying to get nuclear weapons." Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi (Democrat, California) Addressing the US Senate October 10, 2002

The below website offers more rhetoric and truly amazing comments which the new party in charge was making before they signed the papers so send our troops into war. Funny isn't it how they've all completely changed their tune? Not funny for our dead or maimed servicemen and woman though. Or their families. The new congress is going to take us back to the days of dhimmi carter. Perhaps its appropriate that we go back to what essentially fired up the islamonazis and got us to this point. We've come full circle and Americans and the party they've put into power have learned nothing.

From the Adventures of Chester:

This is the golden window for not only making significant changes, but for also building bipartisan consensus, before the show trials begin in January. If the Democrats are on board with an Iraq plan, even the media will drag themselves kicking and screaming toward slightly better coverage. They know where their bread is buttered.

As to my preacher, I have my differences with his view, but I'll take it. Whatever is necessary to not abandon Iraq.
Read his thoughts here.

Pelosi's words.

“General Casey, the top U.S. commander in Iraq, confirmed this morning that staying the course – no matter what slogan this Administration chooses to attach to it – means it will be another 12 to 18 months before the Iraqis will be able to provide security for their country. With the war in Iraq now more than three and a half years old, Iraq engulfed in chaos, and U.S. casualties continuing to mount, this is simply unacceptable.
“No matter what slogans are used to describe it, the President’s Iraq policy has been a dismal failure. It is long past time for a new direction in Iraq.”

>Miliblogs has this question: General Casey says 12-18 months and we win, but "this is simply unacceptable"?

Hat Tip to Amy Proctor for this wonderfully written piece, which got me thinking about our soldiers and how THEIR opinions seem to mean less to everyone than our politicians. Their opinions mean less than those that sit on their asses and watch CNN and think they know more than the Military.

They fight for us, they die for us and yet when they speak, we ignore them. Does that sound right to you?

Those of you that will say they care about our soldiers and they just do not want them to be fighting in Iraq, READ these: "
The Soldiers Speak up--LOUDLY", "The Soldiers Keep Speaking", "Another Soldier Speaks", "American Soldier Speaks to Anti-War Protesters." and "Confederate Yankee Interviews Soldiers in Iraq".

THEN tell me that why you choose to ignore them when they love you enough to die for you.

China is also expecting a bumpy road.

With the 66-year-old Pelosi now in a more powerful public pulpit, China is expecting more critical treatment.

"This old woman has a great bias against China, possibly creating some static in China-U.S. relations," Jin Canrong, an America watcher at Renmin University in Beijing, said in a report Wednesday on Sina.com, one of China's most popular Internet portals.

Macsmind is already amused at the trouble Pelosi still has on the horizon.Read the whole piece here.
As I said before Democrats couldn’t win based on who they are - liberals - so they recruited candidates who except for the “D” next their name are basically conservatives in every part of their being. Make no mistake, there is going to be a clash coming when the two worlds come together in January and it’s going to be fun to watch.

Meanwhile these are the kinds of Democrats that Bush worked with so successfully in Texas while Governor and why he is looking for such “cooperation”. Except for the war, they basically see eye to eye with Bush on many issues. Pelosi - if she becomes speaker and that is a big MURTHA if - will not be able to get squat done unless she can caucus the Blue Dogs - most of whom despised the ideology she walks on.

[UPDATE] 11/10/06- From Times Online- Media finally giving our soldiers a voice.

Half of America and the upper echelons of the US military may be cheering Donald Rumsfeld’s resignation from the post of Defence Secretary, but there was no rejoicing yesterday among those most directly affected by his decisions: the frontline soldiers in Iraq.

Troops expressed little pleasure at the departure of the man responsible for their protracted deployment to a hostile country where 2,839 of their comrades have died.

Indeed, some members of the 101st Airborne Division and other troops approached by The Times as they prepared to fly home from Baghdad airport yesterday expressed concern that Robert Gates, Mr Rumsfeld’s successor, and the Democrat-controlled Congress, might seek to wind down their mission before it was finished.

Mr Rumsfeld “made decisions, he stuck with them and he did what he thought was right, whether people agreed with it, liked it, or not”, Staff Sergeant Frank Notaro said. He insisted that Iraq was better off now than before the war.

Staff Sergeant Michael Howard said: “It’s a blow to the military. He was a good Secretary of Defence. He kept us focused. He kept the leaders focused. It’s going to be hard to fill his shoes.”
