Sex and Money Scandals or National Security

[UPDATE]
10/13/06 Andrew McCarthy's article on "The Culture of Obstruction" is a must read.

On October 3, 2006, I wrote a piece called Nuclear Threats or Sex Scandal, where I brought up Iran and North Korea before North Korea's supposed nuclear test. I posed a few elementary questions. I asked what was wrong with the picture of people focusing on the Foley FireStorm instead of the national security situations that faced us globally.

Fast forward to the present, North Korea has tested it's nuclear capabilities, whether it was substantial or not, they have thumbed their nose at the internation community, the slow and sometimes ineffective UN and have helped bring the security of our nation and the stability of the world back into the forefront, where it belongs. Much to the lefts dismay. They are still making threats about more nuclear tests and possibly firing a nuclear tipped misle.

We have also have the situation with Harry Reid , which is not a security issue, but does bring up a very interesting point about casting stones at the whole republican party for Foley's mistake. Does this mean that Harry boys indiscretions should cast a light on the whole Democratic party? In light of how adamantly the Democrats have postured about investigating Hastert for Foley's emails and instant messages, the answer would be yes. Silly isn't it? I HAVE to add this just for the writer of Bullwinkle and because I want my extra 5 points dammit. (Harry Reid is a bitch).

Now we have the Sandy Berger situation.

A group of House Republicans called Wednesday for a congressional investigation into the improper handling of classified documents by President Clinton's national security adviser, Sandy Berger.
Berger admitted last year that he deliberately took classified documents out of the National Archives in 2003 and destroyed some of them at his office. He pleaded guilty in federal court to one charge of unauthorized removal and retention of classified material and was fined $50,000.
Mark Sherman, associated press write, wrote on April 2, 2005:

Sandy Berger, President Clinton's national security adviser, admitted in federal court that he deliberately took classified documents out of the National Archives and destroyed some of them at his office.

Berger pleaded guilty Friday to one charge of unauthorized removal and retention of classified material, a misdemeanor that carries a maximum sentence of a year in prison and up to a $100,000 fine. Under a plea agreement, he would pay a $10,000 fine, surrender his access to classified government materials for three years and cooperate with investigators.

U.S. Magistrate Deborah Robinson set sentencing for July 8.

Rather than the "honest mistake" he described last summer, Berger told Robinson that he intentionally took and deliberately destroyed three copies of the same document dealing with terror threats during the 2000 millennium celebration. He then lied about it to Archives staff when they told him documents were missing.

Robinson did not ask Berger why he cut up the materials and threw them away at the Washington office of his Stonebridge International consulting firm. Berger, accompanied by his wife, Susan, did not offer an explanation when he spoke to reporters outside the federal courthouse.

This last piece about Berger DOES deal with terror issues and the destruction of classified documents. Perhaps the congress should focus on their investigations and leave the War on terror and national security to the president.

One final note for voters to think about before Novemeber elections: Do we desire a government where the Democratic party is going to do everything in their power to hinder the president while he is dealing with national security, or do we want the president to be able to focus on our safety, rather than focus on having to protect himself from the constant investigations, impeachment proceedings that a democratic congress would be instigating?

After all, we all know or should by now, that the Democrats and the left media would much rather divert attention from the battles and issues that they cannot win and they would of course be too focused on the 2008 election to give a damn about us, the American people or our safety. They have proven that once again with the Foley FireStorm. After all, they are STILL trying to keep attention on Hastert instead of the far more serious issues at hand.
