[Update with text of Feingold amendment below]
Again. The Senate rejected Russ Feingold's amendment to redeploy the troops from Iraq. The vote was 68 nays to 28 yeas and 4 not voting.
Roll call can be found here.
Note to Feingold: With the recent progress and success in Iraq, all you are doing is making a complete ass of yourself, over and over again.
Added to that good news we see that an al-Qaeda in Iraq operative has been killed near the Syrian border, which sheds more light on foreign fighters and 19,000 suspected insurgents have been killed in Iraq since 2003.
Not often we see the deaths of the insurgents and terrorists being covered.
The Lindsey Graham amendment, to improve security of the United States borders, passed the Senate with a vote of 95 yeas, 1 nay and 4 not voting.
Roll call on that is here.
That vote was part of the appropriations for the Department of Defense for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2008, and for other purposes.
The senate also passed $459 billion budget for the Pentagon today.
(Additional thought: I may be wrong, but I think they are trying to get this defense bill passed as quickly as possible, without Iraq withdrawal language, because they cannot get it passed the Senate, as to do it fast, deal with the fallout from their supporters quickly, promise to force "change" on the next battle and the whole time actively wishing for more death and more destruction so they can force change in current successful strategies.
They want our troops to fail, they want the current progress to stop, for no other reason that to be able to "win" politically.
If I am right, and I think I am...that is disgusting.)
