Musharraf's election win has been delayed while the Pakistan makes a determination on whether was eligible to run while he was still the army chief.
Musharraf already had stated that should he win this election he would step down from his powerful army post and before the election a nine member panel from the Supreme court had already determined he was eligible to run in the election.
Musharraf's right to stand for re-election was endorsed by a nine-member panel of Supreme Court judges last week, rejecting applications by lawyers and opposition leaders seeking his disqualification. A 10-member panel of judges from the same court yesterday allowed presidential elections to go ahead and said the winner won't be announced until the judges rule on a legal challenge to Musharraf's candidacy.
Despite the controversy, it is doubtful that the Supreme court will overturn these elections results.
To not show up to vote at all, in my mind, means they simply handed the election to him so that they could later say it wasn't fair.
Once again, we see a case where just because people do not like the results they claim those results shouldn't count.
